Unreleased Song #11: Home Is Where You Are

This month's unreleased song is here!

The message of "Home is Where You Are" really resonates with me right now (more on that in a minute), but the only recording I had of it was a rough iPhone recording. Not to mention, it was played on an out of tune piano. So I only wanted to share this song if I could re-record it...

This morning I set up my home studio equipment & hit record - - RIGHT AFTER the neighborhoo...

A Sneak Peek Video of our Wedding Day

Our wedding month (yep, we streeeeeetched the festivities out a good long while) is sadly coming to an end. These have been the best days of my life. My heart has never felt so full. Stuffed. Maybe it's all the eating and drinking we've been doing in our celebrations. ;) But really it's the feeling of doubling the amount of family I have overnight.

We spent last weekend with Patryk's parents, siblings, nieces &am...

Unreleased Song #10: It Could Have Been Me

I'm jam-packing your Patreon inbox this weekend because the latest unreleased song is here...

This song is actually related to marriage a bit, in that I wrote it after realizing I could have almost married someone who wasn't right for me

"All your talk about a diamond ring, like a band of gold could change anything."

It was weird to think "it could have been me" if I hadn't trusted my gut... if I didn't share my truth & end a seemin...

Cover Song #5: Never Saw Blue Like That

You may not know this song - yet - but it is a love song like no other.

I remember when my friends first shared Shawn Colvin's recording of Never Saw Blue Like That with me. It completely stopped me in my tracks.

The patience.

The timing.

The phrasing.

The guitar chords are a player's dream, familiar but somehow new again wheh set to these lyrics. Did I mention the stunning lyrics?! &nbs...

We tied the knot!

Hey Lizards!!!

Yours truly is officially Mrs. Liz Larney!!!

(I’ll keep my stage name, so you won’t find me at lizlarney.com haha)

Our wedding was the best day of my life. I didn’t think I could love Patryk any more than I do, but there is something so spiritual about choosing to spend the rest of our lives together.

We had the most romantic rain sprinkled ceremony, under a gigantic tree at Springton Manor. I grew up going to this farm with my family so it had sp...

Unreleased Song #9: Ain't Nothing Wrong

This song is about finding peace in making hard, life-changing decisions.

Ten years ago, I wrote Ain't Nothing Wrong with a writer/producer in Nashville named Seth Jones.

When I first moved to Nashville, I had a manager who was entrenched in the film/tv synchronization* side of the music industry. This manager was connected to a network of songwriters who wrote music for tv & film. I was definitely interested in learning how to write songs suited for the...

Cover Song #4: ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY

In September 2018, I was lucky enough to be invited to a GRAMMY event here in Nashville called 'Up Close & Personal with John Prine & Bill Murray'. Yep. It was as incredible as it sounds. There were no more than 75 people in the studio to witness an intimate conversation between Prine & Murray. The room was filled with laughter, and grounded in the calm, gentle nature of John Prine. He played a few songs, shared stories and imparted the wisdom that only he could. I'll never forget...

Unreleased Song #8: Those Who Follow After

Spring Break of 2010. There were 100 of us Berklee students on the "Nashville trip" where we spent a week learning the ways of Music City. Our days were filled with panels from some of Nashville's greatest musicians, engineers, producers, music publishers and more... It was what lead so many of us to flock to TN after graduating. One of the songwriters who sat and shared his story with us was Gary Burr.

I'm Writing Songs + I'm on TikTok?

I'm officially getting old... because I have officially hired a TikTok coach!! Who am I? Learning and creating content for all the social media platforms can feel like a full time job... so I needed a youngen to show me the ropes. Much to my chagrin (word choice = proof of aging), I am enjoying it. It's surprisingly fun to "duet" with anyone around the world.

Cover Song #3: Case Of You

Most of you know that Joni Mitchell is a huge part of why I ended up becoming a singer/songwriter. Blue is my number one all time favorite album. It might be a bit cliche to cover this song, but I couldn't help myself. I love this song so much.

Hope you enjoy the latest cover. I certainly enjoyed making it for you at Smith Lake. As you can tell, the view didn't hurt!!

Unreleased Song #7: Wake You Up

Here's something TOTALLY different from what you've heard me share here before!

Wake You Up was written in 2018 during my pop writing phase. It was a BLAST.  I wrote with a super talented new wave of writers (pictured) in Nashville, who were either still in college at Belmont, new to town or newly signed to a publishing deal. I met so many unique, bold and expressive people. They really inspired me & taught me a ...

Poll: the next online show

I have been missing you guys more than ever.

For several reasons (which I won't get into right here, right now), 2021 has been heavy on my heart.

Not knowing when I'll see you all again, and not having had a show in awhile has taken a toll on my sense of drive and purpose. Making music for you, and feeling your energy is sure to be the remedy... but right now I've got 0 online shows on the calendar.

The First Song I Ever Wrote

My parents were away on vacation.

My sweet grandmother was babysitting me and my brother for a few days.

I was 14 years old with 6 years of piano playing under my belt. I was just discovering how much I loved singing while playing. Thick piano books full of songs from Broadway to the Beatles could entertain me for hours.

I'm not sure why... but while my parents were out of town, the house was quiet, and I closed the songbooks to write a song of my own. Perhaps it wa...

Little update for you... Scott Mulvahill had to reschedule the 1/23 show. It will now be happening in February. Specifics TBA!  My apologies for any inconvenience.

January is typically a slow touring month, where I take the time to reflect on the year past and decide what I want to do creatively with the year ahead. As you know, I'm focusing on learning new songs to share with you for the Cover Songs video series...

Unreleased Song #6: Let Me Tell You

Here's another song I co-wrote with Isaac Fox. It's a love song called Let Me Tell You.

This recording: We made this release-ready "demo" on music row with some great studio musicians in early 2018. Isaac's music publisher arranged the recording session so they could then pitch this to any country artists looking for songs to use for their next albums. The band had finished this entire track by the time I arrived at the studio. I just got to walk in and s...

Unreleased Song #5: Start It Over

The last Unreleased Song of the year! Thank you for proving to be a safe space for me to share these songs with you.

This is Start It Over, the result of my first co-write with Nashville based artist Isaac Fox. We'd never met, and didn't have any pre-conceived notions of each others' music. For me, that's hugely helpful in creating something unique. I love ANY time I walk out of a co-write with a song that sounds differen...
