The Ruby of Ruin
The first historical mention of the gem that became known as the Ruby of Ruin occurs in 1415 when Antipope John XXIII passes it to Cosimo Medici in return for enough coin to buy himself the office of Cardinal. Before that, the gem had been held in the Vatican archives for an unknown amount of time.

Our Sable Sentinel is decked out in a futuristic material that can look like shiny latex or rubber, gleaming or matte leather. It's bulletproof, but Black Tiger isn't! Kinetic force transmits through the uniform to some degree, so while a high-caliber round won't put a hole through him, it can still bruise and batter, and break bones; he might not die but he'll certainly be hurting. Fortunately, ya boy heals fast.
