Middle part of my recent shoot with Sienna, sunbathing in the back yard of the House of Boudoir. Sienna is well into training for her bikini competition, so she is looking really toned (see especially the last two shots). Returning to the miner’s cabin, I had Tenere pose in front of the window and table of knick-knacks. Starting off in bra and jeans, with the setting and the look I thought I would try an aged photo look in post processing. I think it fits the scene.

Finishing off this shoot we did in a really tiny town house in Heidelberg. Fortunately I am getting used to shooting in small spaces. The theme was playing with her orange sequinned jumper.
There was a staircase lading to the upper floor where we were working, and we tried shooting on that from above - but the lighting and framing was very difficult, and in the end there was only one shot I was happy with.

Continuing in the miner’s cabin, as the evening cooled down I placed Cynthia in front for the fire. Fortunately she had changed into her lingerie so she did not overheat.
Still using my small space lens and portable Godox AD200pro flashes, the main challenge was placing the lighting so it had a good effect without being blocked by the furniture in the room.

This was our first 1-on-1 shoot, so we wanted to explore a number of themes including fashion. And I ask you, how can you be a photographer in Melbourne if you can’t get photographs of black clothing. Shooting in the studio let me use a longer lens and stand back which is more flattering. Brittney and I met on Instagram, but I had not had a chance to shoot her. Then my friend Peter organised a workshop with her at Tall Dark and Art, so I took the opportunity to meet and shoot her.
Workshop settings are always difficult, I have less say over the lighting (although I can make suggestions), and I always feel a bit rushed so I can let others have a go. But we got on well, and she is keen to shoot again.

Last Sunday morning in the miner's cabin where I had shot Cynthia the night before, I did an early morning shoot with Tenere.
The cabin had no mains power (just some 12 Volt for lighting) and the only heating was two fires, so I had to get up extra early, go looking for kindling in the dark, and get the fires going so that it was warm enough to shoot nudes with Tenere.

This set was shot at an abandoned railway carriage in a field South-East of Melbourne. Shot with natural light, and towards the end of the day.
In the second half of this set the Sun came in through a crack in the side of the carriage, making a thin orange line - it looks like Holly is being scanned! The light was just incredible, and Holly’s ability to pose with the light - they are honestly breathtaking.

Tenere told me this was the first time she had shot in artistic style. Shot with a strip soft box on one side to create deep shadows. Half way through the set a second soft box was added on the other side. The last shot was an experiment to see if I could bring out the colour of her hair by placing a light behind her.

It has been almost a decade since I worked with Lilly Rae. She has relocated overseas now and rarely visits Australia. So I was a bit surprised when she called me up for a shoot, but welcomed the chance to catch up and booked a studio.
