It was the end of our shoot, the setting Sun was chasing us out of the valley and we went to the top of the hill to catch the last bit of golden light. Looking back down into the valley provides a majestic setting.

One part of the Tall Dark and Art House of Boudoir studio is a 70’s themed room that includes this period record player that we thought had a lot of posing and prop possibilities. Aim’s outfit is probably not quite so period, but is very playful and accentuates her body well. So many keepers from this part of the shoot, so will probably make for 3 sets.

Another one from the archives, shot almost 15 years ago on a Nikon D80 - my first DSLR. Jessi was a popular model of the time, being a dance instructor she was lithe and beautiful, had great presence and the darkest brunette hair I think I have seen. To prevent the bra leaving marks on Rachelle's skin, we actually shot these ones first, then Rachelle put the bra on. But I think it tells a better story to present the shots with the bra first.

Aurora and Monika are both of Polish heritage. I have worked with Monika a few times now, and when I met Aurora for the first time last year I thought (and several other photographers had suggested) that they might like to meet. So what else to do but arrange a duo shoot?

It is the season of the travelling model - this was my first shot with Ciara, aka The Model Adventurer, who spends at least half the year travelling the world. Since we had a good forecast (which has been unreliable this Summer in Melbourne), I opted for an outdoor shoot in Warrandyte State Park.
Since we were heading into the bush, I thought I would equip Ciara with traditional Australian bush clothing: a Driza-Bone and an Akubra. Sadly I forgot to give her anything else. :-)

A few days before the shoot, I passed a pop-up sunglasses shop in my local shopping centre and spotted these strange wrap-around reflective sunnies. Since I knew I was shooting Rachelle at the House of Boudoir, I thought they would work really well in the back yard.

I travelled to Adelaide because May and Aurora were going to be there at the same time. Then I trekked North to the Clare Valley to get to the location - fortunately it was early in the day and all the excellent wineries had not opened, so I made it to the location on time.

Anoush Anou is a very well known model in the art scene. Originally from NZ, she was based in Australia but now lives in the US. Reaching back into the archive, this set was taken in 2012 - the end of a long shoot in a large hotel room.

Working our way back from the end of Organ Pipes National Park to the entrance, the Sun is getting low and the light golden. By the rocky cliff we have to walk under, Belle shows me the silver swimsuit she has brought, and I am intrigued by the possibilities of specular highlights in the reflections off the suit.

When we went back in side we scouted out locations around the house that we would use during the afternoon. I had in mind using this bay window for a dramatically lit scene (which we did later), but the Sun was on that side of the building and was too bright, it would have interfered with my lighting. We moved to the far extreme of Organ Pipes National Park to shoot nudes in the long grass with the bushland background. We were careful as we went in to avoid snakes - we didn’t see any and hopefully they were avoiding us. Then we had to position ourselves to as to get the fabulous hair light and halo effect on Belle from the setting Sun.

Aim was in Melbourne again, and so of course we arranged another shoot. Aim and I were approaching the studio from opposite directions, so I drove and she caught the train, and she arrived dressed like this.
“That’s a bit daring for public transport, isn’t it?” I said.
“What do you mean? It’s not that sheer.”
“Come out to the back yard and I’ll show you.”
Aim told me after that at least no one was staring on the train.

Continuing on the horse drawn tram, but in reverse order - since the light was already set for inside the tram, we continued there with Jullie removing her lingerie, then returned to the steps on the tram’s exterior.

We continued the fashion shoot on the Tessellated Pavement in the Organ Pipes National Park. Belle changed into this very slinky red dress. Now obviously she could not wear a bra under it, but her knickers also caused a distinct visible pantie line - so they came off as well. Leaving a very appealing figure hugging shape.

After shooting at Rhyll we returned to Woolamai Surf Beach near The Pinnacles, where both the crowds and the March flies had subsided, so we could shoot some sexier stuff.
Britt started with this blue mesh set in a rocky alcove at the top of the beach. By this stage there was no one about except some surfers nearby. At one point Brittney flashed at the surfers, and since I had my back to them I asked if she got a wave or any acknowledgement at all. Not a sausage!
After the museum closed we had a bit more freedom with what we could shoot, so Jullie changed into her lingerie and hopped aboard the double decker horse drawn tram that dates from 1887, one of the first trams to operate in Ballarat.
Lighting was a bit of a challenge - I was using my Godox AD200 pro pocket flashes combined with available light in the museum for the shots on the stairs, but inside the tram was a bit darker, and I ended up using a single flash in a soft box in the door at...

Belle is a Brisbane based model who visits Melbourne occasionally. It took two attempts to arrange a shoot because the first time she contacted me my calendar was already full for her Melbourne dates.
She was staying on the North side of town, and the weather was reasonable, so we went out to Organ Pipes National Park. That used to be a regular haunt of mine for shoots, but it’s been a few years since I have been there.

Continuing from last week, Elli is wearing the bejewelled bra top and improvised golden skirt. This outfit is quite revealing to start with, but as we go on we became less concerned about how much it was covering.

A friend of mine (also a photographer) who follows me on Instagram is the manager of the Ballarat Tramway Museum. When I saw him a few months ago he suggested I come and take photos of the trams there, and jokingly added that I should bring one of my models to hang off them. This shoot was done at Tall Dark and Art Studios, where the owner keeps a couple of racks of wardrobe. We saw this bejewelled top and thought it would be an interesting piece to start with, and Elli paired it with her lace panties with a golden strap.
