We've seen a few Gefendur graves in the comic, most notably the one belonging to Rahm and Iori's son, who was buried at home. Most Gefendur graves are temporary affairs. A corpse is buried upright in a little gibbet so nature can take its course. Eventually the gibbet's exhumed, any remaining bones are pounded down into the soil, and a new body gets the grave. As Miracle Max would tell you, he's only mostly dead.

Some TMI, but when my grandma had a stroke and was essentially braindead, it took her body a few days to die. Fluid ran endlessly from her nose, and her eyes and lips got scabby and dark. I based poor Roger's look on that image burned indelibly into my memory.

But that Maha never lets a braindead boy go to waste. So tidy, so economical.

It was fun to finally tell this story. It's a straightforward way to show the foundation Cresce was built on, even if it's a foundation it doesn't live up to all the time. Sonorie isn't really about all this though, right? She has never leaned on populism. But she's finally going whole hog here and, I think, doing a pretty good job.

Her ultimate ambition and what she's done all this for is the Coppers' plan and a final solution to Alderode, but she's not gonna go in dry. Foreplay first....
