I got a little verklempt when I drew this! Cutter is one of the oldest characters in the story, and he had nothing but hatred for humans, but it was a weird hatred tinged with pity from what he knew their (and his) fate was in death. He could have done a lot of things to rid himself of his human soul, but instead he was faithful to Ilganyag and faithful to his "friends," working towards their salvation.

Two pages today! The script read: "And then the gargantuan creature's mouth parted like a pair of labia, and there crowned a newborn's face, distorted in a rictus grin." But I toned that down just a little, ahahaha...

Seems like Cutter got thrown off the Silver earlier, but he's looking pretty savaged there. All his plans and his struggle were for naught.

Duane was actually quite difficult to pin down in this scene. He has so much warring inside of him, from his recent revelation about Lemuel, to his nasty fight with Ilganyag, to the little Sette clone ripping into him, to Sette herself being DEAD - he's gone a bit numb. He's in some ways as scattered and confused as First Sette was on the last page, and in a bit of a daze.

I have an exceptional liking for this page. The kids in this comic repeatedly redeem the adults and justify their own existences by being better than they are. That's the answer to the question, you know.

But First Sette never got to answer that question. Like so many of the khert's wailing dead, she died in ignorance, and her parents didn't respect her in death any more than they did in life. Sucks, man. And here comes another eel.

In the game, it was always ammo or health or cover or something goofy, and it got panned at the time for this lack of creativity.
