VRCDN Allowed Content Changes

Hey everyone.

Due to the Online Safety Act 2023, we can no longer allow pornographic content on our network unless we can perform age verification and content filtering based on age. We are assessing if this is required and potential ways of implementing such a feature securely and in the least intrusive way while still being in compliance with the law, but it will take some time. At this time we believe this change isn't going to effect almost any of our users.

Progress report, fire update, etc

It's almost April already and oh boy what a year it's been already! From a fire in the EU datacenter, to huge leaps in development for the 1.0 build, to many of you switching to a full VRCDN solution instead of other streaming providers! I thought now would be a good time to sit and have a chat.

OVH Fire Thoughts

The fire in the OVH datacenter got me thinking about the way VRCDN is structured and made me realise that the aim to be 100% non profit is impossible. Due to some unexpected bills I was unable to buy a replacement server quickly to keep projects and services (hosted OBS, Unity Sync, EU Live, etc) on track and had to fall back to an older, slower one which has cut EU capacity by 3/4 and completely halted the projects and other services I was working on. Pricing Structure Feedback

I wanted to spend some time expanding on the tiers and what you would get for each of them as right now it's rather confusing. Creating and operating a global CDN is not cheap, so I have come up with viewer caps which might better explain how much viewers cost to host. This is a rough idea so far to gain feedback and is not being enforced.  

Lowest tier, £1 = 5 viewers

This tier is more of a "try before you buy" or for watching videos with friends.

£5 = 30 viewers

It Finally Happened! Server Crash Update

Hi all!

It finally happened, the EU Edge server crashed during 6 events running on VRCDN last Sunday morning at around 5:30AM GMT. Luckily I was online and saw it as it happened and was able to quickly resolve the issue but I thought it would be best to write out exactly what happened and what I'm doing to prevent this from happening in the future.

Domain Change Update

Hi all!

So you may of noticed that we have now fully moved over to VRCDN.Live! this is a huge milestone as it now means we are ready to apply to be added to the whitelist on VRChat!

What does this mean to you? your old URLs will still work but please update them to the new ones as soon as possible as they won't stick around for long. You can find your new URLs on the VRCDN website.

Project update - New Ingest and VOD Streaming

Holy wow here we are! VRCDN is being used by Slyfest, Virtual Bass, Shelter Club, VRCon, VKet, and probably more I've missed! None of this would of been possible without your help! I know VRCDN isnt perfect and I REALLY appreciate you all believing in the project! 

I was going to wait till January to announce the big plans but I'm too excited!
