Hey everyone.
Due to the Online Safety Act 2023, we can no longer allow pornographic content on our network unless we can perform age verification and content filtering based on age. We are assessing if this is required and potential ways of implementing such a feature securely and in the least intrusive way while still being in compliance with the law, but it will take some time. At this time we believe this change isn't going to effect almost any of our users.
We will post more...

Hey everyone! In a previous announcement we mentioned we had a lot to share with you about the current and future development of VRCDN. Sadly, we have had to delay this post due to our schedules being busier than we expected. We will be bringing it to you as soon as possible!
We have two large changes we would like to share with you now to make sure you’re all prepared for them. In Q1 of 2023 we plan on deprecating relays and the old API endpoints.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to start this announcement by saying that we are deeply saddened by the ongoing conflict happening in the Ukraine right now. It's un-ethical and we hope everyone affected by it is staying safe.
We receive a lot of comments about how cheap VRCDN is and many ask if the £1 tier is sustainable. For the longest time we have been able to keep it up thanks to our many generous people joining higher tiers, but sadly the growth rate of users jo...

Hey everyone, happy 2022! We've been planning what we should be focusing on this year and we thought it would be best to give you all a quick rundown on the things we want to make happen this year.
First of all our websites could really use a refresh. The current design was built very quickly so that you had something to use instead of relying on us to share keys over DMs etc. We already have a design in mind and hopefully we will get this done early to mid this year.

VRCDN News, Change of Goals, Network Changes, and more!
Hey hey! We've been busy behind the scenes working on a TON of new stuff, and with this weekend being the first showcase of some of it we thought this would be a good time to give a quick overview of the network, what we've been doing, what to expect, and anything else I can think of.
First of all I'd like to address some concerns that were raised over this weekend's Slyfest potentially overwhelming our network, do not worry we have already discussed this internally and we wo...

I can FINALLY drop the news I've been teasing for what feels like forever! but first, since we are half way through the year that I called "year of VRCDN" at the beginning, lets have a quick overview about what we went through!
VRCDN's original app stack that I designed many years ago always failed to gain traction, until Sly of Slyfest trusted it with his event. Since then the network blew up in popularity and I knew my janky code wouldn't be good enough. In comes k...

Hi all you wonderful people!
It's almost April already and oh boy what a year it's been already! From a fire in the EU datacenter, to huge leaps in development for the 1.0 build, to many of you switching to a full VRCDN solution instead of other streaming providers! I thought now would be a good time to sit and have a chat.
So, lets talk about the fire in the EU datacenter. For those of you who don't know we rent a lot of our machines from OVH, and sadly their SBG facil...
2021-03-29 16:34:59 +0000 UTC View PostOVH Fire Thoughts
The fire in the OVH datacenter got me thinking about the way VRCDN is structured and made me realise that the aim to be 100% non profit is impossible. Due to some unexpected bills I was unable to buy a replacement server quickly to keep projects and services (hosted OBS, Unity Sync, EU Live, etc) on track and had to fall back to an older, slower one which has cut EU capacity by 3/4 and completely halted the projects and other services I was working on. Although we are stable and handling the ...

I wanted to spend some time expanding on the tiers and what you would get for each of them as right now it's rather confusing. Creating and operating a global CDN is not cheap, so I have come up with viewer caps which might better explain how much viewers cost to host. This is a rough idea so far to gain feedback and is not being enforced.
Lowest tier, £1 = 5 viewers
This tier is more of a "try before you buy" or for watching videos with friends.
£5 = 30 viewers

It finally happened, the EU Edge server crashed during 6 events running on VRCDN last Sunday morning at around 5:30AM GMT. Luckily I was online and saw it as it happened and was able to quickly resolve the issue but I thought it would be best to write out exactly what happened and what I'm doing to prevent this from happening in the future.
The specific issue was actually out of VRCDN's control as it was with the route between the US based ingest server and the EU based ed...
