As soon as I hear his voice, I recognize him.
“Hey, wait,” I say. “You’re that annoying vegan influencer dude!”
He blinks a few times, still smiling, then his face morphs into an expression of shock.
“You’re from Earth?!” he exclaims.
“Yeah, I’m from– Spatial Slice!”
Before he can react, ten miniature cat heads appear around me, though only three start spitting spells. Apparently three is the limit for the number of things I ca...

Abby, that’s a ghost, right?
“It certainly seems that way.”
“Hey, are you a ghost?” I call.
“Well, I certainly appear to be one right now, yes,” says the man jovially. “But no, I am no ghost. I have simply shed my mortal form, ascending to a higher plane. You can do the same, if you wish.”
“What kinds of foods do ghosts eat?”
“Food?! Oh, heavens no. We don’t eat f...

Erin looked more or less like Elise remembered her, though her tails were hidden, of course. She was dressed more casually as well, though still in a more eastern-looking style. Elise had learned at some point with Oberon that “eastern-looking” was actually quite accurate, as the style was native to another continent situated to the east of her current one.
Elise sense that Erin had a lot of aether, but interestingly enough, she had much more mana. And she didn’t seem to hav...

The guard starts charging his spear up with mana, but before he can actually strike with it, I Snatch the spear from him. He looks down at his empty hands, confused, and as he does, Lauren moves like a shadow, slipping behind him and putting him in a chokehold. A few seconds later, he’s unconscious again. Usually, that would only put him out for a few seconds, but he’s not waking up, so I think his body is so malnourished that it’s just accepting it.
“What happened?” asks Chad...

Very minor thing, but I noticed the other day when I was going through my notes that Elise actually has three classes in the mornings, not two as has been shown in the recent few chapters. It's not hugely important to the story, but I will be going through and making some minor edits/retcons to those chapters on Wednesday at some point.

Abby, is it normal for dungeons to be buried like this?
“No, but it really depends on where the core spawns. In this case, it seems to have spawned in a place where a burrowing animal lived, and the animal took it into its burrow before eating it.”
I see. Is it safe to go in?
“Most likely, yes. The strength of a Dungeon depends on the strength of the creature that eats the core, and how many Enlightened creatures have died within it, and given ...

I let the catmobile stay outside for a little bit longer, then eat it again and try to sleep. But I can’t sleep. Now that I’ve done that, I’m really curious. I still have Flarn’s and B’s spells in my Stomach. Are they any use to me right now? What other spells can I eat? Can I have infinite mana if I just store a bunch of my own spells ahead of time? Or if I just store balls of concentrated mana that I can absorb back into my body at any time? The possibilities are endless!
I ...

After Aetheric Illusions, the next class for both Elise and Sophie was A Mage’s Guide to Defensive Gardening, and both of them were excited. The first class had been an unfortunately boring syllabus day, but that day came with the promise of something much more exciting: hands-on experience. From today onward, every day would be a practical class, and the teacher would bring in sample plants for them to work with.
The class was held in an enormous greenhouse about halfway to the west ...

I forgot to mention this, but a couple of you guys commented about the Infiltrator Quest starting at 10 days, but then being 5 days in the next chapter. 5 days is correct. Elise stared into Jesse’s face, half-comprehending what was going on. He—or rather, she—was disguised so well that the thought hasn’t even crossed Elise’s mind that Jesse might be anything but what he looked.
“I don’t remember,” said Elise, not wanting to let the silence drag on too long.
“Who said it?” asked Jesse.
“Just someone from another class. Why? Do you know the place?”

When we return to the campsite, Chad isn’t there, and Lauren isn’t making eye contact. I can sense Chad a little ways away gathering firewood or something, but it’s very suspicious. My food isn’t quite ready yet, but I can see a covered pot sitting on a fire, and it smells heavenly, so I suppose it’s acceptable. I am not a ruthless tyrant who cannot see that good food takes time.
There are some freshly chopped logs in a circle around the fire—probably the work of Chad—and ...

We stand on opposite sides of the clearing, and for a few seconds, none of us move. Then, A raises her staff and a projectile of volatile mana launches itself at me. I jump to the side to avoid it, but when it reaches where I just was, it explodes, and I’m forced to Blink to get out of the radius. When I reappear, another projectile is already on its way to me. I dodge that as well, and when I reappear, I see A and B rising into the air on a shield made by B.

You can download the full, professionally edited ebook right now for free if you'd like, or you can wait and snag it on Amazon. If you want the ebook, check the other post I made last night.
Audio is on its way, but won't be done until January 2026 at the absolute earliest. Most likely, it will be later than that. B...

That means it's stubbing soon, and it's a little bit last-minute, but here's the .epub if you're interested. I will have to take this down when it comes stubbing time in about a week, so grab it while you can!
No major changes happened in editing compared to what you read serially, but this version is professionally line-edited, so it should be a smoother readin...

The place we pick for the practice duel is a few hundred meters from the campsite on the side of the road. There aren’t really any great places, since there are trees everywhere, but the twins in their infinite creativity come up with a fun solution.

Since it was no longer orientation day, Sophie was back to attending the Academy in the mornings, leaving Elise to go to her morning classes alone. She was glad for this because it left her much more time to think about how she would go about finding the Saintess. Maggie had given her a lot to work with, so it would hopefully just be some simple deductive work to find out who it was.
The Saintess was in at least one class with Elise, so she wouldn’t need to go out of her way ...

At first, the twins seem pretty normal. They’re identical girls—well, women, since they’re 21, but they’re younger than me, so that makes them girls—and they wear big billowy robes with big witch hats. They’re pretty, I guess (though not as pretty as me), and with natural platinum blonde hair and gray eyes so pale they look silver, they make a pretty strong first impression.

Lauren’s “house” is a mansion. I now see that when I acted surprised that she had a house, that was truly the peak of ignorance. Apparently, Gold ranked Adventurers in places like this where Gold is one of the highest ranks live very well. Her house is almost as big as mine was in my first life, and it has a huge yard. Everything in it is nice, and she even has live-in maids.
And of course, included in the house is a very large, very nice kitchen. There are a bunch ...

“Yes. And she knows… a lot. Most of my secrets. You can let her in.”
Nick nodded, then stepped aside, allowing Maggie to step in. She looked completely different than she had in Everspring, and much closer to the version of her in her soul realm. The armor wasn’t identical, and from what Elise could tell it looked like it was missing a few pieces, likely for comfort and ease of movement. Still, she looked hale and hear...

As they progressed through the fifth floor of the Dungeon, Guildmaster Pike grew steadily more nervous. The beastwoman was obviously… different… but she was clearly competent, and he hoped that would be enough. Now, he wasn’t so sure.
Technically, she was passing the teamwork test with flying colors. Electing herself as leader was unorthodox, but picking someone to call the shots in a Dungeon was essential for smooth teamwork, so she got full points there. He might have h...

While most of her other classes were in the main central circle, Aetheric Illusions took place on a part of the campus that Elise had never seen before. In fact, it looked like most students hadn’t seen that part of campus before. It was down a somewhat overgrown side road branching off one of the less-used main roads, and it was hidden by an aetheric illusion that made it so most students likely didn’t even notice it existed. And even if they did notice it existed, they wouldn’t see th...

Elise had never been good at sleeping on the nights before big days, and the night before classes started was no different. She had a hard time falling asleep in the first place, then woke up once in the middle of the night, and again half an hour before she was supposed to get up. Her dreams were disjointed and nonsensical, but all featured an odd medley of her best and worst memories from her days in school on Earth. The only upside to her restlessness is that she felt mostly wide awake whe...
