Rise of the Influencer - Pandora's Box Preview

Hey all, here is a preview of the next episode.

A little bit about this video before you watch: In this one we cover the history of the rise of the influencer, and social media in general. We also talk a bit about its consuming nature, parasocial relationships, addiction, influence, and obsession.

I have to emphasize the intro warning in the beginning of the video - this one you will find is dark and disturbing in some parts because social media is unfortunately dark and disturbing in some aspects.

I don't hold anything back. My aim is to entertain, but more importantly warn both viewer and creator the dangers of social media, and my hope is that the information contained within will be used to navigate the world of social media more guardedly.

Anyways, just thought I'd throw that warning out there because I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

There are some things I'll be changing before final release, so don't consider it a final product. Hopefully I'll have it fully finished soon and ready to post on the channel, then onto the next episode.

Pandora's Box - The Rise of the Influencer Previews

Hey all. I know it's been a good while. Apologies - I've just been working away at episode 2 and didn't have any meaningful updates until now. It's quite the project. Luckily though it's near completion and I wanted to post some previews of the work I have. Like with episode 1, I have the intro segment of the video mostly ready(subject to change).

As discussed, the topic of this video will be about Youtube, Twitch, parasocial relationships and social media in general. The first draft of the video was looking to be about ~an hour, but I trimmed the fat down a bit and now it's looking to be just over 30 minutes.

The editing has been....time consuming to say the least. I picked up some new tricks since episode 1, both in editing and general filmography. I think you will be pleased with the results, and hopefully it'll be worth all of the extra elbow grease.

Just a warning, I would like to emphasize the little "viewer discretion is advised" intro for this one. This is not what I would consider a pleasant video. We will discuss subjects that are dark and disturbing because the unfortunate truth is social media is a dark and disturbing place sometimes(a lot of the times, actually). Still, for me, it's an extremely important video because it's largely educational in its design. I want it to be a video that everyone would benefit from viewing in order to navigate the world of social media more guardedly.

Apologies again for how long it has taken, but I think the increased quality will be worth the wait. I'm really going all out in this one. Big breaks like this I'm hoping won't be the norm though, and as it turns out I already have some work done on episode 3, but I'll save that until we finish #2 here.

Progress Update!

Hey all

I know it's been a WHILE since I've posted on here. No worries - payments have been paused for the past several months. The reason for this is due to personal events and being caught in limbo in deciding the topic of the next MadSeasonShow video, I felt that my progress wasn't enough to warrant charging.

After much thought though, I'm happy to announce progress resumes at a great pace. I have the subject of the next video down, and the script mostly done. It's looking to be another long one - about 1.5 hours long.

As for the subject matter, it relates to Youtube, Twitch, social media, and parasocial relationships. In essence, subjects I am intimately familiar with. With this being my first non-WoW video who knows how well it will do, but one thing I am confident about is this: for those who do watch it, they will look at Youtube, Twitch, and all social media differently. To me, it's a critically important subject and I'm taking great care to do it right.

As of right now, I have the script in a near-finished form. It's at ~13k words, but I could add or subtract to that before it reaches its final draft form. And from there, onto editing! Overall, I'm very excited.

Apologies for the long wait, but due to the scope of the channel these days, big breaks in between videos like this will unfortunately be common. If you are looking for a fix until then, check out my BadSeasonShow channel as I do upload on there much more frequently.

Anyways, just wanted to post this to keep you all in the loop, and also to let you know ahead of time that because I'm back on a pace I'm happy with, I will be resuming charges for June.

I have also removed one of my planned perks on MadSeasonShow, which are those commentaries on my Pandora's Box series - after some thought I'd rather have those available for everyone, and most likely they will be posted on BadSeasonShow.

Pause in payments for the time being

Just wanted to post a general update. Work on videos continues, but I've had a bit of a streak of personal matters crop up in the past few weeks that have limited my productivity. I'm still making progress, but definitely not at a pace I'm happy with. Because of this, I'll be pausing payments for Patreon for the time being. Next MadSeasonShow Video Previews + General Update

Hey all

I've begun work on the next video. Well, videos actually - I'm running a few in tandem at the moment. First up, I wanted to make a video about Youtube's recent removal of the visibility of dislikes as this affects me greatly as a channel. I've been meaning to get around to it, but with Pandora and everything I'm definitely getting to it later than I wanted to. It's still an important video though.

Aside from that, I also have some scriptwork done for the next Pandora's Box episode. I'm still in the research phase, but I'm feeling pretty confident about it - hope to have the previews for you soon. My focus for now is this commentary on the dislike situation though.

For those of you interested in my alt channel, BadSeasonShow, the Dark Souls 1 playthrough is wrapping up soon, and after that I was going to record and upload Elden Ring, which is set for release later this month.

I also still need to knock out that commentary track for Pandora #1, which I know a few of you have been waiting on.

If you do listen to the voiceover preview, let me know how I sound - I've adjusted some mic settings to where I sound a bit more clear than usual. I've been doing lots of research lately to up my audio game, so I'm definitely looking for feedback on that to see if I'm on the right track or not.

Dark Souls 1 Playthrough Early Access

For those subbed to BadSeasonShow, you may have seen I started a Dark Souls 1 playthrough. I'll be trying to maintain a daily schedule on this channel, so I'll be releasing one ~20-30 minute part a day. Current projects in the works

Hey all

Pandora #1 is done! See the early access 1 post below - otherwise it should be on the channel within a few days.

I've begun work on some other projects that I wanted to share with you also including:

• A MadSeasonShow video

Now that episode 1 is out, I was thinking of an update on the future/direction of the channel. It wouldn't be a super-edited video, more of a casual "here's what to expect" since after moving on from WoW many are asking what's next.

I also wanted to talk about the removal of dislikes on Youtube. I know this one is a little late to the party, but it's something that affects me greatly, and as you'd imagine I have a lot to say about it. This video is in outline form atm, and I should be able to script it soon.

• A BadSeasonShow series

I mentioned this a while ago, but in anticipation for Elden Ring I thought it would be ceremonious to play through the Dark Souls trilogy. On a whim I decided to record it(mainly because I haven't posted on Bad in forever). I've begun editing all of that together, so you can expect to see those posted soon. I'm including BadSeasonShow content on this Patreon as well, so you will see early access to those as well. Right now, my plan is to post 1 ~20 minute part a day to the channel, and on here give you a link to a playlist that I'll populate immediately as I finish/upload the parts so you can binge the series, if you wish.

• A new channel?(ChadSeasonShow)

I haven't worked out the logistics of this one yet, but inspired from a recent q&a episode I was thinking of potentially starting a 3rd channel, dedicated to fitness/lifting. If it were to be a thing, it would be a mixed bag: exercise guides, memes, PRs, powerlifting/bodybuilding history, etc.. It's another one of my passions so I'd like to be able to share it, but I haven't decided fully yet as that would be 3 channels, and I'm already struggling to keep pace with the 2 I already have. Just wanted to keep you in the loop of what I'm thinking though - will keep you updated if I decide to go through with it.

• A Patreon Video

Now that episode #1 is out, I want to go ahead and get that commentary track done(one of the Patreon perks). With it being a 2 hr video I'm sure it'll be a decent sized video depending on how much I pause.

It's been a long time coming! Sorry it took so long - I was unhappy with the voiceover, so I went ahead and redid it. Patreon Changes, Vidya Stuff, More

Greetings mortals

I mentioned in a previous post that I plan on switching around perks. Specifically, I'm replacing the q&a series with commentaries/react videos(mostly Pandora's Box, but possibly others). The entire q&a series will still be available to you should you ever want to watch old episodes. For those who like the series though I plan on making more - they'll just be in a public space, most likely on BadSeasonShow. We also still have 1 more episode to go, so if you have any questions leave them here or on the q&a post a couple weeks ago and I'll add them!

As for the video, I just finished the latest draft(up to 13th), and it's pretty much done on my end. We are also nearly finished with that animation(more previews soon), and right now it's looking like the video will see its release early December, and of course you guys will get early access to it.

It feels kind of weird to have taken so long, I wonder how many people will remember me! It's nice to finally finish it though, feels like I'm moving on in a lot of ways.

Since I don't have a whole lot to do on my end at this point, I went ahead and started work on some other videos. One is an edited project for MadSeasonShow(script almost done), and another is a playthrough series of Dark Souls, which will be uploaded to BadSeasonShow.

Being a fan of From Software games, I've kept an eye on development on their new one, Elden Ring. I wanted to play through Dark Souls 1-3 to sort of hype myself for release, and on a whim decided to record a playthrough with some monotone commentary. So no real fancy editing or anything - just casual content for my casual channel. Hopefully I can finish all 3 before its release in Feb!

November Q&A Questions Needed + Perk Changes

I mentioned in the last Q&A that I paused charges for the month of November. I still wanted to do the q&a though! Speaking of which, I also wanted to take the time to change perks around a bit.

I also pitched in the last q&a the idea of commentary tracks released with some of my videos(mainly thinking pandora's box). I decided to go ahead with that, and sometime following release I'll be uploading that here on Patreon as an exclusive video for you all. Considering the base video is 2 hrs long, it'll be pretty lengthy I imagine!

I'm not really sure how to describe it - the goal is to be educational(editing tricks, video structure), but also lots of behind the scene stuff I'm sure. I guess I'll only really know when I sit down and record it.

So that will be added as an official perk, and just like the rest of the perks every tier will have access to it.

In exchange though, I was thinking of pausing the Q&A sessions or transitioning them to BadSeasonShow. Mainly because we've kind of done a lot, and we're running out of questions! We always have good questions, but quantity-wise I think we're starting to run out! I think q&a series like this will shine in a more public space where we simply have more to work with.

That being said, all of the q&a's exclusive to Patreon will remain exclusive, and viewable whenever you please.

So Q&As would return in the future - they would just be public on BadSeasonShow.

I don't like making decisions without feedback first though, so by all means let me know what you think of this! I haven't fully decided, but my thought process is that I think it will result in more interesting episodes at the end of the day. Of course if I do make this change, I will let you know ahead of time before the charge for December goes through(these happen at the 1st of every month).

A: Outside of gaming my main hobbies are lifting weights, gardening, woodcarving and some piano here and there.

Patreon Pause in Effect for November!

An update with the video: It's been a long road, but I should be finished on my end by the end of this week! There is a catch though! In the last q&a I mentioned that I was thinking of capping off the video with an animation commission. I decided to go ahead with it, so that will take some extra time, most likely pushing it to November if things go as planned and nothing gets in the way for us.

Because of this and missing my target of October, I will be pausing payments for Patreon for the month of November! I'll still be working on videos(mainly BadSeasonShow stuff) but considering it's taking longer than I expected I wanted to give a free month as a thanks for being patient with me. I'll also be sharing some teasers leading up to the full early access to hopefully tide you over while work on the animation continues.

Progress Update On Next Video

Hey all

Work continues on the next video. I've had some health issues recently, which have kept me from being as productive as I want to be, but outside of that things are shaping up nicely. I went ahead and purchased a new, higher quality mic that you'll first hear in this month's Q&A video(remember to post your questions! It's 1 post below). I'm pretty happy with it overall but will definitely be looking for feedback on how I sound. I'll have to do lots of rerecording with the new mic or else the VO will sound really jarring. Considering how much time I'm putting into it anyways though, I may as well.

I've also begun the process of getting some commission work scheduled - this video might have a lot of it depending on how I want to do the ending. Additionally, I've purchased some more equipment(crt tvs, vcrs - you'll know what that's all about when you see the video).

All of this was purchased using Patreon funds for this month, so thanks for the support with that. I support a few people on Patreon myself, and it's always a cool feeling to know when I'm directly helping improve someone's content, so I just thought I'd share that!

My goal is to be ~75-80% finished by the end of September for the rough cut, then October is finishing touches. If I'm uninterrupted I should be able to make it, I do have some personal things going on in October though, so I'll just have to play it by ear. Will try my best!

Q&A - August 2021

Q&A for August! Thanks for the support all. In the video I said the script for the next video is attached, but I'm going to hold off on that for now as there are some changes I want to make. Progress on the video is slow and steady though, and overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Early Access: SWG Nostalgia(BadSeasonShow Premiere)

In the last channel update I mentioned that I was going to start posting to my alternate channel, BadSeasonShow. This channel will be home for more "off the cuff"/less edited videos that don't fit my main channel, and I finished the first video for that last night. I thought I may as well add all of the patreon perks for that channel as well. Although, this one in particular will just have a 1 day EA as I wanted to post this and my channel update to my channels tomorrow!

Regarding the upcoming videos, I have the update/"what's next" video pretty much done - just need to polish a few things and I'll post the EA for you guys. Hoping tomorrow?

The video itself answers questions and goes into more details of what's actually coming up next with the channel, my mindset going into them, as well as details on some side projects I have planned.

The series will be named Pandora's Box, and WoW will be the subject of the first episode. As mentioned in the previous Q&A, I'm still on the script portion. I've given it several revisions at this point and it's pretty close to a final draft. Sorry it's taking so long - due to its length and the fact that it's the premiere episode of my main series, I'm taking it very seriously and giving it lots of extra care. It's paramount that this very first episode nails 100% the atmosphere and theme of what I want the series to be, which has led to lots of second guessing and revisions of its scope and the nature of which I cover it.

Ultimately it's a good thing as it'll lead to a better final product - just frustrating at times. It feels like a giant tangled mess of Christmas lights that I have to meticulously unravel. I'm feeling pretty confident about it now though, and will be ready to move on with the actual voice over in the coming days. Will keep you updated on that. Slow and steady!

Next Video Previews + Progress Update

Hello everyone

I've finished the script for the next couple videos. I've kept you guys in the loop on what's to come on the channel, but I've sort of unintentionally left non-patrons in the dark on what's to come. So, I figured it would be a good idea to make an update/my plans video to and get everyone up to speed with what I've got planned for the channel from now on, including more details on what I have in mind for side projects and the overall mindset in which I'll be approaching my channel from now on. I'll start editing away at that in the coming days - early access should be in a few days if things go as planned.

As for the next big video, I finished the rough draft of the script. I still need to give it some re-reads and polish things up a bit, but the skeleton is pretty much done. I'll be doing that over the weekend, then it's onto the actual voice over and finally the editing! Due to its length, it will take a very long time to make, but I'll keep you posted on its progress. It's very ambitious, but I think you'll like it!

World of Warcraft, MadSeasonShow, and the Future

Hey all

So I posted a pretty big video today - I'm moving on from WoW. The reasons why you can find in the video itself. It's been an extremely difficult decision for me, one that most of my friends have called me crazy for, but I know in my heart that it's the right choice. From the beginning on Youtube my objective was to combine two hobbies of which I held great passion for: Video editing and World of Warcraft. It's been a perfect match and the last 6 years have been the highlight of my life. Being able to share it with so many people is something I'm very grateful for, and I want nothing more to continue it, but as described in the video due to the direction of the game my interest in World of Warcraft is waning.

What I used to look forward to I was beginning to dread. "Eh it's been a while since I've done a video, I HAVE to make one soon". I want my life to be filled with "Want to's", not "Have to's", and you've seen that reflected in the slowed pace of videos on the channel. I'm averaging about 1 a month at this point because I no longer have that passion to fuel productivity(among things going on in my personal life that I've been struggling with). It's hurting the channel, and it's hurting me personally. I know this news will disappoint many of you, but as stated in the video I follow my heart in all things in life, and this is what my heart is telling me, knowing full well that it means I may not be able to do it as a living anymore, and no one is more heartbroken about that than me.

Typically on Youtube/Twitch, when a channel focuses on one thing and one thing only, anything out of the norm is usually meant with disinterest. I know - it's happened to me with a few other channels I've watched. Even though I told myself I'd stick with them, I just ended up not having an interest in the new stuff they provided. I will be trying my best and will maintain the quality standard that you are used to, but even still at the end of the day I know what I will be making will not be everyone's cup of tea, and that is fine. I appreciate the support you've given me up until this point, regardless.

I want it to be very clear that I know full well what this could mean for the channel. It very would could mean I have to turn Youtube back into a hobby, but I've prepared myself for that if it is indeed the case.

As for specifics, right now it's pretty open ended. Over time I've found that I've preferred making long, documentary-style videos(quality over quantity). The first thing I will be trying will be episode 1 of a new series of this format, and the first episode will be about World of Warcraft as I think it's the most appropriate topic given the circumstances, and I want to send it off right.

It's a full history of the game, and it's impact on the world, the gaming industry, and the people playing it. As of this post, I have over 26 pages written in script form. It will be well over an hour long video that will take a long time to make, but I will keep you updated on its progress.

For episode 2, although nothing is concrete, I was thinking of sharing my experience with Youtube/content creation and some of the darker sides that most people don't see.

I have episodes for my favorite games of all time planned(zelda series, resident evil, final fantasy, etc), and even episodes about Youtubers, Streamers, and other people.

All this is to say, it's very open ended and ambitious, and I'm excited/a bit scared to see how it's all received.

I know this will be goodbye to many of you - I wish you nothing but the best in life and thanks for the support you've given me, it means more than you know.

Big video coming!

Hey all

I've been working away on the next video and wanted to give you a quick update on my progress and plans.

It's a big one, probably one of the most important videos on the channel to date. I want to be vague though and reveal it when I'm ready, and to that end there won't be any early access for this one as it's news-related.

Sorry to be so vague, but once it's done and posted I'll post a followup here and elaborate a bit more. Realistically, it's probably ~1 week away. Excited to share it with you.

Early Access: Memories Series Returns!

A while ago I started the "memories" series, where I detail some of the more memorable moments of my time playing the original launch of vanilla. I had originally ended the series when vanilla came to a close, but now that BC is out I figured it would be timely to return to it. In this one I go over the launch of the expansion, some of the difficulties my guild and I faced during the transition, and more. Enjoy!
