Base or no base?
I scale all of my miniatures to 28mm foot to eye level, and stick a 25mm base onto them.
Would you prefer the models to be base-less?
If I did this I would make sure their feet (or paws and what not) flat on the bottom still.

Coming along nicely!
My main method of making this was masking off an area, then going to deformation -> inflate by 3 or 4 -> dynamesh+polish.

I know that the vast majority of you are plenty content with the subscription service offered through Patreon.
That said, I noticed that the majority of my Patrons that delete their pledge indicated in the exit survey that they only intended to pledge for a limited time anyway.
So I figured I would set up a one time donation option :)
That way no one has to go through the hassle of setting up a Patreon account and then having to deleting their pledge just for a simple ...
So recently I've had a handful of sci-fi commissions which is very different than my usual. Here is another WIP of a sci-fi character coming up.
I'm curious if you guys like sci-fi as well?
I can pick and choose what commissions I accept so I'm curious what you'd like to see more of.
I just started blocking at the armor so he looks pretty funny.

Thanks to Douglas Rector for pointing me to the proper categories! Looks much better now. I included a photo catalog at the top too!
Enjoy,

For all of my artists out there, I have organized and packaged up all my ZBrush files on DropBox. It is over 30 GB of files! I have messaged all $3+ patrons with the link.
It includes

It is getting a bit out of hand as I approach 100 models so just alphabetical order may not be sufficient.
I'd love comments suggesting how it should be organized if that's what you'd like. Lots of options. Could be by class, weapon type, race, etc.
Available on DropBox! Will be uploaded to Thingiverse later tonight or tomorrow.
I've been able to release an TEN MODELS this month already! Shooting for 20. Go big or go home right? Thanks for all the support <3 I know I gush about you guys all the time, but really. This community is unbelievably sweet and constructive.
Much love,
Mia
P.S. The way I planned to pose it totally failed lol I just decimated it to 25k and used ZSphe...
To all my fellow artists out there...
You ever have a moment where it just clicks and suddenly you are a little bit better? This sculpt had one of those moments for me. When I was sculpting the chest armor I had a few realizations of "OH. This is a WAY better way to do this!"
(In a nut shell, try masking something off. Then go to the Tool palette. Then go to the deformation tab. MAGIC can be done there I tell ya.)
Pretty thrilled. This fella is going to be
Fun commission I just finished~ Not sure what this little guy is. Some sort of desert alien creature.

Fun commission I did recently! This will be released soon.
For creature sculpts I always start with basic shapes. Then I slowly manipulate those shapes in their lowest subdivision until the general form is correct. Finally I add detail. Usually I go between dam standard brush and clay build up when I start detail work.
I recommend getting the general form "perfect" before adding detail. I noticed I get pretty frustrated otherwise haha I get caught up in the detail work, and I ...

Here are 2 orders I am sending out today! Just in case you were curious what the minis looked like :) These have been primed and are ready for paint!
The $20 includes 2 primed minis, and covers all packing/shipping fees. It is only available in the USA. You get to pick which 2 minis you want! Pretty much all of my models can be printed at 28mm scale.

Armor
I made the armor by using Dynamesh + Polish. I used dam standard to crease the armor, and then alt+dam standard to build up the ridges. This combined with Dynamesh + Polish worked pretty nicely!
The armor lines don't look deep in the render, but they would definitely show up on a print. This method of sculpting armor is more like the quick and dirty way to get it done, but it works! I will be adding fabric creases once the model is posed.
So when I printed it on a 25mm base, the teeth were too small to show up.
I made an alternate version :D
Enjoy!
This is how I scale and measure my minis in MeshMixer. Feel free to ask questions :)

Thanks David Burdess for the awesome request!
Instead of a sculpting tip for this guy, I wanted to share some info with you guys. You've probably noticed that I've been going all out this month. Here is a list of the models I've released just this month.
That's seven different models in 10 days!&...

Thanks to Mark Gladman for the awesome request! He requested this last month, so now I can move on to the $5 patron requests!
I also do commission work, so if you see me posting things other than requests that would be why.

Before posing I keep the detail pretty low because when you use ZSpheres you need it to be very low poly. Otherwise it moves terribly slow. For the Aaraockra I sculpted all of the details twice because of this. Not smart, don't be like me haha
You can totally sculpt in high detail, pose, and then project the details back on. But I haven't taken the 5 minutes to learn that so. Here we are.
Also, I did not make that awesome gun. 2019-02-09 17:40:05 +0000 UTC

I went back to one of my oldest models and improved it.
About time I added a base to it. I could just stick the tail to the base, but there is probably a better way to do it.

After the ZSpheres and adaptive mesh, I very loosely sculpted the general form out using the clay build up brush.
He looks pretty funny at this point. His weird little body needs clothes for sure.
...I haven't modeled the hands with talons because. Well. Hands. haha I hate em'.
2019-02-08 16:18:33 +0000 UTC View Post*Edit* Thanks for the overwhelming support. Many of you have increased your pledge! I am so appreciative, and I will be moving through with this.
I want to share my models for free.
Why?
Well, I love sculpting. But really, I love my models possibly making someone's game that much better.
Why be a Patron then?
$1 tier
I'm starting my Aarakocra model! Here is my first step. I create a skeleton with ZSpheres. Then I will construct the adaptive skin simply by pressing 'A'.
From here I will sculpt the main features in symmetry. Once the T-Pose is finished and gorgeous, I will use ZSpheres again to rig and pose.
