J'ai décidé de vous montrer les colorisations que j'ai récemment terminées sur différentes illustrations. Deux d'entre elles deviendront des ex-libris pour la Y/con, puis seront disponibles dans ma boutique en ligne (je vous en parlerai un autre jour, car rien n'est encore fait, mais j'y travaille...).

Pornomicon - First encounter - the last pages and the cover illustration - HD

Fortunately, I managed to finish this comic before the deadline! It went to print yesterday and (if the printing gods are with me...) I'll have my copies ready for the convention on November 15-16.

So here are the last few pages and the cover (with a few sketches that won't remain unfinished, that's for sure).

I won't have had time to work on coloring the vacation drawings and turning them into a mini art book as I had planned... but I will at least make three beautiful ex-libris, which I am currently finishing...

I will add the Pornomicon - First Encounter - Silent Edition to the comic book collection after the convention, and it is highly likely that the paper version will be available for purchase online after the convention.

Heureusement, j'ai réussit a terminer ce comics avant la date fatidique ! C'est parti hier à l'impression et (si les dieux de l'impression sont avec moi…) J'aurai mes exemplaires prêt pour la convention du 15 au 16 novembre.

Voici donc les dernières planches et la couverture (avec quelques croquis qui ne resteront pas inachevés, ça c'est sûr).

Je n'aurai pas eu le temps de travailler sur la colorisation des dessins de vacances et d'en faire un mini-artbook comme j'en avais eu le projet... mais je vais au moins en tiré 3 beaux ex-libris que je suis en train de finir actuellement...

J'ajouterais à la collection de comics le Pornomicon - First Encounter - Silent Edition après la convention et ils est fort probable que la version papier soit disponible à l'achat en ligne, après la convention.

It's been a while but here I am with 4 new pages finished in ink wash version.

I have some personal issues and also a few professional setbacks... The printer I hired for my comics returned my 75 copies of The Three Stooges with three printing errors inside... 😟Unusable! 😓 As usual in these cases, by the time they realized they were responsible, offered to reprint at their expense, and understood where the problem came from, a whole week had gone by...

I really hope I'll be ready for the Y/con convention... Let's cross fingers. 🤞

Cela fait longtemps, mais me voici avec 4 nouvelles pages terminées en version lavis d'encre.

J'ai quelques problèmes personnels et aussi quelques revers professionnels... L'imprimeur que j'ai engagé pour mes comics m'a rendu mes 75 exemplaires des 3 Nigaudss avec trois erreurs d'impression à l'intérieur... 😟Inutilisables ! 😓 Comme d'habitude dans ce genre de cas, le temps qu'ils réalisent leur responsabilité, proposent de réimprimer à leurs frais et comprennent d'où venait le problème, une semaine entière s'était écoulée...

J'espère vraiment être prêt pour la convention Y/con... Croisons les doigts. 🤞

Another page of advanced sketches that will be part of the printed book (before the real thing) for which I finally found a name:

The PORNOMICON - First Encounter : Silent Edition.

Since it's exactly what it is... A version without dialogue that makes the atmosphere more important than the meaning.

I really hope to be ready for the convention. 😅

You'll be interested to know that the 3 Stooges comic book has gone to print, along with an exclusive Ex-Libris.

2 new illustrations in HD

Two new illustrations to complete the french publication of the comic book series “Les 3 Nigauds dans l'ère Edo.” One more proofread and I'll send it to the printer.

Sorry for being a bit laconic, but I still have a lot to do and my deadlines are approaching!! 😅😘

A few changes - Un peu de changement

A few changes to the schedule and the new items I will be selling at the Y/con 11 convention in Paris Montreuil from November 15 to 16.

Despite my best efforts, I won't be able to finish coloring Pornomicon - First Encounter🐙 in time. I'm more than halfway through the inking, but I still have a lot of work to do on the sketches for the remaining pages, which are less finished than the previous ones...

Initially, I had planned to publish the final version with the entire ink wash drawings as a bonus. I will still be able to publish this layouts version without dialogue because I believe it works on its own and the atmosphere it creates is very interesting.

Here is a page of sketches I just finished in ink wash to give you an idea of the difference between the two... I think that justifies publishing it, don't you?

I have three color illustrations left (which I will show you as soon as they are finished) to complete the layout of the Three Stooges. I will be working on them this weekend.

There will also be a reissue of the Vargas/Cannon double feature, as I only have three copies left. I'm going to republish them with perfect binding, as it gives a more professional finish (my little Christmas Special artbook 🎅is proof of that).

And finally, a new little artbook will also be making an appearance at the convention... 🌀😉

Un peu de changement dans le planning et dans les nouveautés que je proposerais à la convention Y/con 11 de Paris Montreuil du 15 au 16 novembre.

Malgré mes efforts, je ne pourrais pas humainement terminer à la fois les couleurs sur le Pornomicon - First Encounter🐙. J'en suis à plus de la moitié de l'encrage mais j'ai pas mal de travail sur les croquis des pages restantes qui sont moins abouties que les précédentes...

Initialement j'avais prévu de publier la version finale avec en bonus l'intégralité des dessins en lavis d'encre.

Je vais tout de même pouvoir publier cette version sans dialogues car je crois qu'elle fonctionne par elle-même et que l'atmosphère qui s'en dégage est très intéressante.

Je vous montre ici une page de croquis que je viens de terminer en lavis d'encre pour vous donner une idée de la différence entre les deux... je pense que cela justifie une publication, non?

Il me reste trois illustrations couleurs (que je vous montrerais dès qu'elles seront finies) pour boucler la maquette des 3 Nigauds. Je m'y attelle cette fin de semaine.

Il y aura aussi une réedition du double feature Vargas/Cannon car il ne me reste plus que 3 exemplaires. Je vais les republier en dos carré collé car le rendu est plus professionnel (mon petit artbook Chrismas Special 🎅en est la preuve).

Et enfin, un nouveau petit artbook fera aussi sont apparition à la convention... 🌀😉

Pornomicon - First encounter - Pages 11 to 13 inked...

Hello guys!

This time it will be quick because, well you already know what it is about, and I have to make up for lost time from the last three days when I was sick (nothing serious, just a cold).

The good news is that there are only two pages left before the end of this scene, and then I'll stop inking to color the first half of the comic and add the first dialogues.

As you can see, I take the "Lovecraft factor" more seriously now and finally the look matches the intention.

Pornomicon - First encounter - Pages 7 to 10 inked...

It's been a while but, as you can see, things are moving forward. Those are pages 7 to 10 inked and in HD.

The areas left blank where the underground lake is located will require special attention when it comes to coloring... I will do some tests to find the best solution between inking and coloring... Given that the lake is black, I am still hesitating between treating it as pure inking...

It is extremely rare for me to question my graphic skills, particularly when it comes to equipment or digital tools. That's why I think it's appropriate to tell you about a small revolution that took place a while ago in my Clip Paint Studio brushes...

A few weeks ago, I retired my old brush called Logan sk, which had served me faithfully since the beginning for my pre-inking sketches... So goodbye Berthe (as we say in France), and welcome Logan New sk, which is actually a watercolor brush. And for some reason, it's perfect for sketches. I feel like it boosts my sketches without me having to go back over the lines several times to make them effective. In short, I love it!

And now, as I try out new brushes, I've discovered a tool that is revolutionizing the way I ink my work.

I spent some time adapting my current inking brush, which I called Logan Ink. I was completely satisfied with it and it has been with me for a long time in my work. I really liked the way it imitated the thick and thin lines of my real brush...

But then I came across a brush called デジー丸ペン (Digi-Maru pen) N° 1719810 that a mangaka ぐよもも (GyoMomo) published on the Clip Paint library... And something clicked inside me, a letting go of the aspect of my inking that I hadn't dared to allow before, but which, through this brush, makes my inking work just as emotional but above all less time-consuming.

It was also while watching videos by renowned mangaka such as Naoki Urasawa that I realized that striving for the perfect line didn't make my comic strips more effective, but rather distracted the eye from the reading.

That's why some of you may have noticed a noticeable difference in my style in the Pornomicon - First Encounter comic strips.

The other reason for this change in style is that I've always had one regret about the first Pornomicon. I originally wanted to create a darker story, but my very comic-book-like and colorful style, where shadows are completely absent, while contributing to the “success” of the comic, also betrayed my original intentions, which I intend to honor here. (Plus, digital ink is cheap, so I can use as much as I want!)

And I don't even talk about my new brushes I use for the rocks and backgrounds...

I wanted to share all this with you because, for me, it's quite an important event that I hope will allow me to work faster.

Hello buddies! Here's some freshly inked pages (but you don't have to worry about the wet ink 😉) , in HD for your eyes only! I'm still a little unsure about how certain parts will turn out, such as the tunnel leading to the underground vault... But overall, I'm happy with the look of those pages so far.

Pornomicon - First encounter - First pages inked...

Things are getting serious for Pornomicon - First Encounter. Here are four pages inked in HD (I know that without color it's much less exciting, but unfortunately I do the coloring at the end, after inserting the dialogues)... 🐙

In the meantime, I'm also working on the layout for the comicbook about the Three Stooges in the Edo era so that everything will be ready for the next Y/Con... If all goes well, I'll have 3 new releases for the occasion. 👍

I am well aware that the next pages I am about to present, once inked, are also those you have already seen in the form of advanced sketches/storyboards, but this reflects the sometimes repetitive nature of the work of a comic book artist. 😅🙏

I'll try to insert from time to time new colored illustrations whenever I'll find the time. 🤞⏳

Sorry I can't give you more content right now but someone in my neighborhood burned a fiber connection box and the neighborhood is without internet for 2 days. Unfortunately my computer doesn't have a Wi-Fi card. My operator gave me a spare airbox but it's not much use. But I've started inking the Pornomicon pages. Little by little, illustration by illustration, the world of Spiralboy 🌀 is expanding. At some point, I'll have to consolidate all this by writing a lore. But I prefer to let things happen at their own pace, and in any case I've got my hands full with the existing series.
But the references to and a certain form of naive science fiction from the 50s and 60s is more than obvious.
P.S. I'll do proper scans of all those illustrations back at home and I'll probably add some coloring too. All the previous publication concerning Spiralboy 🌀 will be updated when the new stuff is added (and you'll be noticed everytime of course). 😘

A little sketch I started this morning.
In the Spiralboy world, you can only travel by sleeping. While you sleep you dream about the place you want to go. When you wake up, you are at the place you dreamed about. When you travel awake, you just go nowhere, you travel in circle.
I know , I know... Even the concept is very Moebius but I like it.

Last commission of the summer.

So, before I go on vacation, here is the last commission from the previous session. The new session will likely be in mid-November/early December...

I really enjoyed working on this illustration, especially the background and the inking, which went very well. While I found the color palette fairly quickly, the skin tones for the bodies were more difficult to find. I made two propositions.

So here are the results and a few steps, with the commissioner's blessing, and as usual in standard resolution.

A Commission before vacation.

Like every summer, I'm getting ready to go on vacation to the beach ⛱🌊🐷🍆💦(from August 9 to 30). But like last year, I'm taking a sketchbook with me (I have storyboards to do for a common project with Patrick Fillion... but shhh, it's a secret!🤫😁 ), so I won't let you without new drawings during this period. (Remember the Spiralboy drawings that still need some coloring?..😜😅 )

But before that, I will make an ultimate commission (The next session will probably start after Y/con 11 at the end of November). Here's the sketch, that helped me flesh out the idea and stage the scene, and the inking of the background. It's the third illustration of a series that I called The PigSlut and El Culto Satánico.

I joined the two other illustrations so you can have the context. I really love the color palettes (I's not very often that I'm satisfied of my coloring).

As always, since it's a commission the art is in low-res.

P.S. I borrowed the representation of the Aztec god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, from Aztec culture. Firstly, because he perfectly matched the look I was going for, and secondly, because his posture allowed me to add the sacrificial penis in just the right place... Of course, I don't associate Mictlantecuhtli with any kind of satanic cult. Aztec mythology is much richer and older than that. I just borrowed his look.

With this publication, I reveal the ending of the sequel to The Pornomicon. Tthe last page echoing the first page of the precedent story. Horror and sex always dance a wild dance, one wrapping around the other like a Lovecraftian Ouroboros. Somewhere in this prequel, I recreate what I consider to have been “missing” in the Pornomicon. A more direct look at the Grotesque (as an art form).

One day, I would like to delve deeper into this psychotic mix (probably for a more horrifying story, most likely in black and white, with this kind of rendering...). We'll see...

But, for now, here the last pages of Pornomicon Legacy : First Encounter, the story-board/layouts.

And don't ask me if I have other stories in the Pornomicon Legacy... because, you know I do!!
