That’s gotta hurt.
FIXED pain. These are boards, I think—-my final clean ups over (I’m pretty sure) Genndy’s storyboard roughs. I don’t know if these scenes actually made it into the final film or not!

2025-08-20 16:01:05 +0000 UTC View PostFor those who’ve purchased access to my POP-ART webinar series, please be aware that I will be canceling this evening’s lecture (this being Aug. 19th). Sadly, I’ve come down with some very strong virus and I’m not feeling like I’ll be able to deliver my best self this evening. Rather than muscling through the event, half-assing it, I’ve chosen to postpone this event.
Next week’s webinar, intended to be lecture #3, will now be lecture #2, and in the following week’s lecture #4, the final lecture, will now be given on Sept. 9.
For those waiting for last week’s recorded lecture to be posted, a link has been established, I just need to get around to posting it. For this, I do humbly ask for your patience.
Thanks all!
2025-08-19 16:56:24 +0000 UTC View PostThanks to everyone who tuned into my POP-ART lecture last night!
Newer and bigger things happen for Popeye in our next lecture, so be sure to tune in then as well! You can still sign up here on Patreon (see my “shoppe”) at a level that’s most comfortable for you. See you next Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 8:30PM, EST. Arf arf arf!

If you purchased a sticky-note sketch from me last week, they’ve all been mailed out! Please let me know if and when you receive the sketch! I like to know they’ve arrived….and if they haven’t arrived (that’s not good). I’d say, if you haven’t gotten it in a week to ten days from now, something happened. Not cool! I will get another out to you asap.
Thanks kids.

For those of you that don’t know, Frank Giacoia was one of the great comic book inkers of all time. An exceptional artist, he did full drawing duties on some great stuff, including the Sherlock Holmes newspaper strip. But he’s perhaps best known as an inker on work ranging from
a
golden age titles to the height of Marvel-mania. For my money, he’s one of the very best, if not THE best inker to have worked over Jack Kirby’s pencils.
This strip hits home for me a bit,...

Don’t know which character to choose? I’ll do it. I can make one up, even (see images above.)
Don’t know where to send it? Can’t help you there.
Don’t know who I should sign it to? That’s…weird. You don’t know your name? The hel...

Although there ain’t no Zoom links yet (wait for ‘em), you can enter my shop here on Patreon and root around for the pricing tier that suits you best. Each lecture has been priced singly (all four, count ‘em four of ‘em), but if you buy the series it’s kind of a bargain. But beyond that, if you buy it as a series at the higher price? You get a drawing from me. For serious. Yuh-huh.

Don’t worry, this gig drawing Classics Illustrated never happened for me anyhow. I think after a few weeks the editor who offered me Sleepy Hollow figured out they’d made a mistake, and asked me what classic would I want to draw. I told them Gogol’s THE NOSE, and never heard from them again.
