Color Practice

Working off of what I did with the Supergirl and Darkseid picture previously, I decided to do something fairly quick and simple, focusing on the coloring.  

I paid particular attention to the greyscale rendering, but still needed to experiment with the various layers on top of it that actually add the color. 

Suffice it to say, I think it turned out pretty well, and now I can think about what I want to do next.

The more I looked at yesterday's picture, the more I felt I needed to ...push it.  It was too dark.  I'd always felt that way, but convinced myself that it was the first try with this style, and it was okay to not be great.

Meh.  I wanted it to look better, and after trying some things, came up with this, and I really like it.  Even if I don't it's a huge improvement from the last one.  Much more colorful, yet still moody.

I hope this new coloring style suits you guys.  Keep in mind, this is the first time I tried this particular method, and I think the image came out a bit dark.  I'd probably add a second light source right at the penetration point, too.  But all in all, I think it's a great first picture to add some much needed mood and improved values.

I have no clue what I'll draw next.  ...

I didn't get to spend much time on this today, but I enlarged Supergirl's tits, fixed the positioning of her pussy, updated her expression, adjusted Darkseid's funky eyes, and the hand of her's that's on his head, along with where her hip and her right thigh meet/bend.  That was weird.

So not a LOT, but since this is a redraw, I definitely had to fix some stuff, because I want it to be a great picture.  Not one of those that I stop because I hate it - like this one used to be.

I have no idea where this one came from, and it sure as heck wasn't finished.  Not to mention, I don't think it's all that good.  

I also don't want it to go to waste.  Since I have the PSD, I'm going to actually finish it - with improvements!  This one could be pretty good, but I wasn't in the mood, and it looks like I was aiming for a no-ink painted style, which I just don't care for when it comes to comic stuff.  It works for a lot of guys, but not for me.

Here is the final, large, no-watermark version.  I thought about putting one up without the glow as well.  That was just an experiment to brighten it up and make it more interesting, but I probably over did it.  :P

I'm pretty happy with this one, and I appreciate you guys being here throughout the process.

Unfortunate news - while cleaning up my desktop, I deleted Page 01 of the comic I was working on.  That was almost a week ago, and I felt frustrated to lose so much work.  

Good news - I think this pinup is going to be awesome (if you like futa, that is).  Seeing how popular the Wonder Woman and Powergirl picture was on H-F, I thought I'd give that genre another shot, and see what happens!  :P

I'm going to get back to that comic, but I'm going to go straight to pencil...

Injustice Page 01 Update 06

Here is the latest update on the page.  I decided to work a bit on the fourth panel, just because I was getting tired of all the buildings!  Ack!

Well, they're not too far from being done.   That's the good news.  The not good news is that panel 1 is more buildings!!! 

It's a race against time, due to the short month!  But what else are days off for, but the ol' side hustle?  :D

Well, this panel is going to take a while!  Yes, I plan to do a full background, but that's part of the plan.  

I may change Harley's pose a little.  It's a cool pose, but I don't really think it works for what I'm drawing.  Perhaps I'll straighten her left leg, and turn her head to our right.

Injustice Page 01 Update 02

I wanted to show this, because not only do you get to see what style I'm using, but you also get an idea of what the characters are looking like.

Hey...Harley's face was skin-colored in Injustice.  At least for a good bit of it.  And I'm putting my own take on her costume, but you'll need to wait until a different panel to have a better look.

Speed lines will be added, as well as some color to make the characters pop a little.

Anyway...the last panel is coming together, though honestly, why does Peter Parker look shocked?  He's standing behind Black Widow, so he's not seeing her tits!  Ugh!  Such poor planning on my part. 

I'll have to figure out the best way to "fix" this.  I'm not quite liking the two images of Natasha being so close to one another, either.

I had today off.  Tomorrow too.  Then, I work Mon & Tue, and have Wed & Thursday off.  Do you know what that means?

I'll finish this page!!!  At least, I think so.  

Since the last update, I actually did a lot of repainting on Hulk, in both panels 1 & 2.  I also pretty much finished the rock work to the right side of Peter in panel 2.

I have some more color tweaking to do here and there, but it's likely that by tomorrow ...

Here is what I've been able to accomplish so far on this page.  It's certainly more time consuming and more difficult to "paint" the page, rather than the whole "cut & fade" style, but it's simply a different technique, and feels more artistic.

Panel 1 is coming along.  It's looking good, as far as I'm concerned.  :)  I always have to remind myself to make Hulk's hands really big!  Probably, they're still too small, but it's a tricky line to walk.  ;)

I'm back, time permitting.  I will probably be really slow, but I should have enough time for weekly updates, and I thought I'd share what I'm going to be working on for December.

Speaking of December, I am going to start this thing again on the 2nd of the month, so that charges should reappear in January.  You won't be charged in December, as this is a free post, just to show you what's on deck art-wise.

Quick Update

First, I'm not back.  Lol.  I changed back to Pay Per Creation because that means you won't be charged come November.

The picture you're looking at is actually what I did BEFORE I came back to the States.  It's not entirely new, but it's something to show.  :|

Also, it looks like I'm having problems with Photoshop.  I pencil/ink in Painter, and can color in Painter - just a different, more painterly style - but there are things I do in Photoshop that I never do i...

I'm writing this from the Hong Kong airport - I'm flying to Seattle in the morning (yes, I'm sleeping in the actual airport), but will try putting down roots in Portland, where my brother Richard Marx lives.
