Moving House

I wanted to apologize for putzing out on the Cartoon History of Iceland pages, the last couple Saturdays. Story is, I've been moving the contents of a house into another house, using only a hand truck. Oh, and there was the rebuilding a bathroom wall thing, too.

But this exhausting work is finally done, so things should be getting better in the next few, knockonwood.

Ooooo....angry witch. SOMEthing drastic gonna happen....

Any comix or movies featuring tech gets dated so fast, these days. The tube monitors and 10-pin connectors may have been state-of-the-art back when this was drawn, but now, the young whipper-snappers barely know what they even are.

Woke up at 4:30 in the morning, and couldn't get back to sleep. So I'm chawing on cookies and posting Monday's Mink.

Sheesh. I have about 3 days' worth of work to get done this Monday. Mass mailings, house repairs, hauling a crapton of stuff outa my studio. So I'd better have gotten plenty of rest before I embark on such a strenuous day, yes? So my brain keeps me awake worrying about it. Typical!

The size of Henry's predicament starts to become clear to him. I'd want a stiff drink, too.

Poles in holes, already. These young people today, they have no patience.

Which reminds me, I want to apologize for crapping out on the Saturday cartoons, these last couple weeks. I've been busy moving the contents of a house into another, already occupied, house. But it's almost done, now, so by next week I should have time to sit around and draw again.

"Booby trap", heh.....I had no shame, back then. Don't know that I do now, either.

Enter Hündrat. I'm definitely gonna do more with this character....

You think culture shock from moving between countries is bad? Try moving between universes.

I'd kinda like to spend a couple more pages on character-building and such, but the instant gratification of the Internet has shortened people's attention spans. So here's the throbbin' bobbin' organs, already.

Doing the superhero thang.

And while I'm writing, my apologies again for how long it's taking to get my $3-up Patrons' rewards in the mail. The pile of books and envelopes has been sitting here for weeks, staring at me accusingly while I work on so much other stuff.

But this weekend looks to have a few hours open, so knock on wood!

Genetic engineering is a rabbit hole that goes down a long, long way.

Science is getting to the point where it will be possible to both modify the human genome, and mass-produce the results. I think this is a stunningly bad idea.

When things get weird, the weird go pro. "Don't panic!" is good advice in most any situation. Using your head to think things thru will usually serve you better in a crisis than running in little circles, while flapping your arms and screaming incoherently.

Been so busy lately (as in hauling heavy objects around), that I'm amazed this page got done at all. But here it is. Yay!

With freedom come many responsibilities. Poor lil' Toy has a lot of learning to do.

I was gonna whine about how busy I am, but then it occurred to me that it beat sitting around, waiting to starve. There's worse lives than mine.

In other news, my kind patrons have voted unanimously for boobies, so that'll be the theme for this month's Patreon perk. Ah, I love fan feedback. Makes many, if not most, creative decisions easier.

The line between affection and addiction can be a thin one. And yes, freeing slaves is exhilarating. But THEN what?

Hah! Made it - it is technically still Sunday.

Eeesh. This working for a living bit is killing me. But I'm gonna keep right on doing it, 'cause starving in the gutter does not appeal. And at least I like working on these pages.

Augh! What a day this has been. It's 3:30 already, and I only just now got enough of a break to turn on the computer. So anyway, here's Sunday's Program Switch page. Massive Mice will follow, once I've cut my way a little further out of this thicket.

What is Justice? Kudos to humanity for having come up with the concept - but making it real is a messy business.

The month's crop of looter 'bots has been cleaned out (the credit card numbers being fake is a dead giveaway), so now it's time to mail off the Patron Perks. How about a mildly naughty one, this month? Which sounds better to you-all, "Tantric Tomfoolery" (whangs!) or "Tammy grows on the job"? (Boooobies!)

Here's the Icelandic history page that should have been posted last Saturday. Sorry to be late, but I must steal art time where I can. Casa Karno is very busy, these days.

Patreon tells me this month's haul is $900. THANK YOU, my grand Patrons! Believe me, I appreciate it. The take's dropped below the $1000 I stipulated for animation work, but maybe that's just as well. Decent animation takes one's full time and attention, and I got too many things going on right now to do it properly.<...

Was it Abe Lincoln who said "If you really want to test a man's character, give him power"? I tend to think it amplifies what's already there. Give a jerk power, you get a tyrant. Give a good person power, and you get a superhero?

The "long way down" panel took more work than the rest of the page combined. Creating a world with your hands is not as easy as it looks.

And yes, the Mink is kinda standing on the brink of an abyss of her own. A moral one - and those go down further than most people can imagine.

Like I said in the previous posting, you now get two pages every Sunday. Isn't that nice of me? Ahhhh, I get a little tear in my eye, just thinking of my warm generosity. What a great guy I am! (chokes back a manful sniffle).

So I'm starting another story in the spirit of "The Size of it!". Naturally, I wanted to share it with my Patrons. More than anyone (because y'all pay me), they deserve the freshest, ridiculously exaggerated Karno porno. But the Sunday slot was already occupied by Program Switch. What to do?

In the end I decided to run 'em both, with Massive Mice in the "pay" slot, and Program Switch posted for free while MM runs it's course. Howzat sound to you, my dear...Karnoans? Karnites? Karn...

Yeah...if the person in question CAN float through the air with the greatest of ease, some deference in your attitude is probably a good idea.

If a being is sentient, if they can talk, they're people. The way you came into the world does not determine how "real" you are.

That is some fantastic luck. For both Toy and his owner.
