The Cartoon History of Iceland, chapter 2, page 1.

I always count the women, myself. They're what distinguishes a viable colony from an extended fishing trip.

Yup, I'm back in the ole homestead. Ho boy, is there a lot to catch up on! But I don't regret going - travel broadens the mind, and allows you to meet interesting people.

OK, while I have Net connection, I'll upload Sunday's Program Switch page. Then, when I get back home on Sunday, knockonwood, I'll upload the free Iceland History page that usually goes up on Saturdays. Slightly out of normal sequence, but all will be delivered to your screens in the end. Really, what do you expect from a wandering cartoonist?

This page is a day late - sorry 'bout that. I'm traveling, and the computer access I rented on Friday turned out not to allow any uploading.

And yes, your life must be pretty horrible if the few seconds of freedom as you fall to your death seem worth it.

Power may or may not cause assholism. We don't pay attention to raving jerks until after they gain power, so there's the "sampling error" problem. But there's also the fact that being a good person while wielding great power is ....complicated.

Reality is under no obligation to be plausible. You can tell the literal truth, and still sound like a raving nut-job.

Iceland was first settled by fiercely independent people, and we are still disinclined to take orders from jerks.

You did nothing bad, kid. There just wasn't enough to go around. A problem increasingly affecting the "real" world as well.

Building needs planning, organization, materials, labor, maintenance....whereas destroying just takes enough muscle to swing a sledgehammer. Still, I like to think us builders are winning in the long run.

I should do more with the Mink's healing abilities. Makes a nice change-up from the standard find-the-villain-and-punch-him-in-the-face story....

Lo, thy wish is granted, kind patrons! I'll be working on new Program Switch pages while these previous ones run their course, so you-all should be seeing the story all the way to the end without interruption. Knockonwood!

The faster the healing, the more power it takes. But that's modern people for you, always in a hurry.

Anybody know how to get a Mac Mini to admit that the Mustek scanner plugged into it actually exists? The new Macs seem to be real snobs when it comes to peripherals. But I got art to scan, so I gotta find a way to get 'em to talk to each other.

Today's page is mostly wish fulfillment. I have often wished for the power to heal my loved ones. It sure would beat my present option: Just standing there, watching them suffer.

A time of endings. My doughty old Powermac (my main work machine) gave up the ghost last night. Augh! Thank the mad, blind gods of chance that I'd backed up everything to the end of August, for transfer to the machine I'm typing this very missive on. Means September's work is lost, though. Any advice on what to replace the Powermac with?

Cleared out some 'bots from the patron roster. I'd like to replace them with real readers. As ever, I implore my fans to spread the word about th...

Last month, Patreon's CC money-handling service charged me $40 to deposit $1000 and change. This month, they're charging me $120 to deposit $600. Triple the fee in actual numbers, and five times the fee, percentage-wise. What goes on here? My good Patrons are paying their hard-earned money to support me, not some corporate greedhead.

So where would you go, if you had the power to heal the wounded?

Oh! It's October already?! Time flies when you don't know what you're doing. I'm gonna try to get my good Patrons' comix perks packed up (and PDeFfed, for you netheads) this weekend. And I gotta get this month's crop of 'bots cleared off the roster. Seriously, why do people do that? Does it violate some principle for them to contribute even one lousy dollar a month???

Super-powers do paint a line between you and "normal" people. Avoid making it any thicker than it has to be - If only to avoid going nutso from loneliness.

Yep, that's nice. Unfortunately, out here in reality, we DO need to save the world. Have you seem the state of it, lately?

A happy ending! And that "end" in the last panel looks like it's smiling to me. One more page of Size of it, and then we can go on to a story that specualtes about the nature of reality, and the underpinnings of morality.

Of course, it also contains tight twats assailed by huge, raging hardons, for why else would anyone read it?

"Program Switch" seems the most popular choice to replace "The Size of it" as the Sunday strip. But I wanna do "The Cartoon history of Iceland", too. So as a compromise, I'm gonna run the Iceland History pages in the Saturday "free" slot, at least for the time being. Maybe it'll move up to Sunday, once Program Switch is done. We shall see....

If I had super-powers, I would use them to get laid. So would any "superhero" with a functioning glandular system. The lack of this is one of the superhero comics genre's worst flaws. Being able to fly by clenching your buttocks isn't as unrealistic as NOT using your super-gifts to get lucky.

Sorry to post so late in the day, but for once, I have a halfway good excuse: I was lickin' envelope flaps, getting my sweet Patrons' perks ready for mailing. I'll be sending out the PDF version soon, too.

Foof. Why couldn't I have been so popular/busy back in my 20's, when I had the energy for it? Age versus career feels bass-ackward, sometimes.

Sorry to post so late in the day - I was battling the DMV in the morning, and Cox cable about now. Gad, Cox sucks! I'm convinced they only survive because of their monopoly in many markets - nobody would put up with their godawful service if they had any better choices.

Hoboy! Been a heckuva day. But I got a Size of it page finished, and even posted. Yay! And now I think on it, since the end of this story is coming up in a couple of weeks, it's not too early to start thinking about what will replace it in the Sunday slot.

I've been thinking either the Cartoon History of Iceland (I swear, I started it BEFORE Larry Gonick's excellent "Cartoon History of the World"), or "Program Switch", the hardcase in the cutesy Saturday-morning-cartoon world.

So Saturday postings are mostly about what I'm up to at that point in time. So, this morning, me and the good wife cleaned the garage. This was not easy, but we got it done, and I'm proud of that.

Next is a photo of the old Ford Escort I learned to drive on. Now that I have access to a newer car with AC, I'm selling off the old Ford. If you know anyone in the general Tucson area in the market for an ol' beater for around a grand, pass 'em the word!

If you want to put your power in service to something, pick an ideal to serve. Justice, eco-cleanup, exploration, progress, something like that. Putting it in the service of power-hungry bureaucrats will not end well.

Sorry to post this so late in the day. It's been a little crazy, this last week. This last month, really. Anybody else suffering from this? The Chores You Must Do chart going up, while the Available Time chart seems to somehow be going down?

Why can't the world slow down for a couple days while I catch my breath and collect my senses? That's not too much to ask, surely?
