I am on my painting training arc. I always wanted to be better at it but I've shied away from it out of fear of a bad outcome. I've watch Devin Korwin's Light and material lecture and it helped me a lot to understand more how light works. I want to create more meaningful and impactful work, whether it be more useful concept art, or to make all the half-life fan art paintings I have sitting in my head. hl2 scribblings

haven't had much time to do proper fan art but I was just itching to do something. one day ill do a nice illustration. this comic panel style kinda organically came out, I wanted to focus on composition as well as stronger black value shapes. got me thinking about my next animatic based on certain scenes in hl2 chapters.

was digging through some old sketches to revisit. this wasn't an old sketch per se but it was spun off while redrawing some old stuff. lately i feel like just taking any idea i have and seeing it through, not trying to think about it too much and get some volume going while still maintaining a quality i like.

WIP - (Exchange) - HLA short animatic

Been roughing out a 1min HLA animatic/limited animation short. I've always wanted to shorts to music I love as I find a lot of inspiration from music and try to insert it into my work. I'm starting out slow with something short and to a slow song, (Exchange) from Massive Attack. I have to give thanks to my friend RudeJack for pushing me to do something like this.

Forgot to post the most recent pencils I did for this! Pretty happy with how the drawing looks. I usually do a new drawing from scratch when I have a rough drawing like the second pic but I decide to just draw over it. I figured I was going to loose the energy and shapes from the rough if I didn't.

WIP Dr. Xing tentacle animation (NSFW)

wip of Dr. Xing just doing some science of course. working on the clean up and giving Procreate Dreams a second shot. this kinda helped me get the wiggles out and brush the animation rust off so i have more confidence doing a short Half-life alyx animatic (its sfw :) )
