This page was an atrocity to create. WAY too many layers/effects... bleh. Not my usual jam. Glad it's over, but glad it exists, haha.

Welcome to the first of the Yesterdaybound After Dark content, the shamelessly crafted excuse i've come up with to do some smutty little extra content.
Little mini comics, additional pages, whatever - i'm sure you can piece it together :)

Just gotta say, it feels reeeal good to be drawing Jay and Alice on the same page again.
Never again shall I separate them for so long.
Plus, i've missed drawing Tara's shit-eating little expressions, haha.

Side note : this whole page exists as an excuse to draw Anna and Alice's expressions in the last panel.
Gotta love those cartoony expressions... which i'm not too great at, i'll admit - but it's fun to try from time to time, haha.

I needed to design two practical, believable combat outfits for Tara and Jay to show up in.
One outfit turned out slightly more practical than the other. I'll leave it to you to decide which one.
Attached some concept art for Jay's outfit. Went through a bunch of drafts, trying to decide how modern-soldier he'd look, vs a more superhero jam. I even tried to make him a helmet - but it just didn't work right.
In the end, I went with what my teenage self would have gone with - ru...
Add "Eyeball getting pulled out of socket" to the list of serial-killer-implying search history on my computer.
Seriously, some references are more fun to look up than others!
But on a cuter little topic, i've been waiting a while for Anna and Alice to drop the L word to each other properly. I always get close... and then my wife -wisely- dissuades me from pushing it / getting too sappy with the dialogue.
Turns out it makes sense to build towards stuff instead of jump right in...
Any time I have to draw a bunch of characters on a single panel, I groan a bit inside.
It always ends up being worth the effort, and really adds to a scene (in my opinion) but daaaaamn does it take forever, haha. Especially the colouring.
Anyways, I set out to create a gory panel of Alice flinging her raygun at Don Sunseri - and while I don't feel like it quite captures the "OMG" moment I wanted (they never do :P) i'm still pretty content :)

Been wanting to draw up a pinup of Anna on her bike (which met an inglorious end under the treads of a tank many pages ago) for a while now - so here ya go! Enjoy the riveting thought of so much horsepower strapped into such an illogically designed piece of transportation hardware!!

To be honest, I feel like this page, and recent ones of a similar nature, are a little too busy.
The lightning/energy effects, while cool, kind of create a calamity.
Not that i'm really complaining, as i'm still very much happy with the way they're turning out (and these would have BLOWN my mind a few years back, haha)
Plus, with the nature of raygun vs hologram stuff going on, taking place in a flashy light-effect filled club, it's a little harder to avoid.
But still - always som...
I always struggle with 'action scenes'. When I first got into comic-art, I was really attracted to how forceful some art could look (think Wolverine/hulk images where you can just FEEL the power in the art) and ever since, i've tried to replicate that 'feel'
Always feels like it's just out of reach, haha. Not that i'm complaining about where i'm currently at, as I do like this page / etc :D
