Long time no painting update

I haven't posted a painting update for quite a while, but I haven't been idle. Since the Proteus is finished (post coming soon to Tale of Painters), I assembled The Headman's Curse (the new Nighthaunt Underworlds warband) and also this little chap, a limited Edition Space Marine Captain. Last year I found a big lot of the former Citadel paints in a Facebook group, and as I plan to make a retro review about them, this model was the perfect project to paint for the video.

As I start...

Sorry for the late update. On Tuesday, I shared my repainted Kill Team Combat Gauges inc. the paint recipes, and today, Garfy will post his painted Jerrion's Delegation Dawnbringers box. For Saturday, I prepared a review of Green Stuff World's Liquid Pigments range.

PS: If you haven't watched my Tokyo documentary video yet, make sure to give it a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jWaO82i65o I'm cov...

Welcome to all new patrons :) This week is a bit slower on the blog. Garfy posted his Cursling yesterday, while I'm busy to finish editing my Tokyo hobby video for the weekend. I'll also try to cram in a short review of the new Age of Sigmar Harbingers box sets.

I've also started to preparing next month's Patreon exclusive. Since my Contrast chart was such a hit, I'll follow up with a hand-painted chart of ALL acrylic washes from ALL major miniature paint ranges. This will be available ...

Next video teaser

Hi guys, hope you're all well! While I wasn't able to do much lobbying over the weekend, I can proudly present you a teaser trailer for my next YouTube video. It'll be a top 7 list of my favourite Warhammer, GUNPLA & scale modeling spots I found on my Tokyo trips.

This video will be my most "cinematic" video yet, and the amount of work I put into it is brain-melting, easily 30+ hours of editing already... for example, the intro, which you can see above, took me almost a whole day of...

Welcome to all new patrons :) Yesterday I shared a few pictures of the two Termagant test models I painted from Leviathan. The step-by-step tutorial, free for all, will be up on Saturday. Tomorrow, there'll also be an unboxing of the Warhammer stamp series from Royal Mail UK.

I'm also working really hard on my next video, which will be my favourite seven hobby spots in Tokyo I discovered on my visit in April. So something a bit different from my usual videos, and I can't wait for you to...

Painting Termagants

Welcome to all new patrons. Hope anyone who wanted a copy of Leviathan got one  yesterday! Last week I painted two of the new Termagant models for an upcoming tutorial. I chose Kraken, but with a twist of my own, with more purple-greyish skin and a more salmon-like colours for the gun and carapace highlights. Can't wait to finish these today and share the tutorial with you!

How to paint Shambling Undead (masterclass tutorial)

This month's Patreon exclusive masterclass PDF tutorial covers a wide range of topics - zenithal airbrushing / slapchop techniques, painting Zombie skin with bruises and gore, painting blueish Ghoul Skin, painting dungeon bases, and, of course, painting a Skeleton Wight player from start to finish. So there is something for everyone, and you can easily adapt this scheme to Soulblight Gravelords or even Ossiarch Bonereapers models. So make sure to check out the PDF in the attachments :)

Of combat gauges & Proteus tanks

This weekend I didn't get any painting done at all, since I was visiting Prague und checking out the hobby stores there. Last week I experimented with some new oil-based weathering techniques on this Kill Team combat gauge. I wanted to repaint my gauges since I wasn't super happy with my first scheme. I also added a few more details to the Proteus' black areas, such as the passenger compartment. Need to pick up some steam this week!

So this weekend I took a break from preparing some secret projects for June (hint, hint), and spent some time on the Proteus, did the panel lining and sponge weathering. Now I need to fill in all the details :)

Yesterday I shared the Zombies I painted for my Shambling Undead Blitz Bowl team, and for the weekend you can look forward to a review of Kill Team: Ashes of Faith PLUS a video review of Warcolour's Nostalgia 94 range. This range is designed to replicate the Citadel Colours range from the 90s, so a really interesting product.

Garfy is quite busy painting his copy of Warcry: Nightmare Quest, and next week he'll share some nice photos of the finished models over on the blog.

Proteus painting

Hope you had a nice weekend! Since I've finally finished my Blitz Bowl Undead team, I started with a new project. I had the Land Raider Proteus assembled for my review, but never got around painting it, which I'm going to change now. I just wonder if I can manage to finish it before Leviathan hits, but I'm confident. This weekend I did all the basecoating with the new airbrush I bought in Japan, feels good to finally have an airbrush that is not a 30 Euro Chinese knock-off :D

Bit of a slow week. Yesterday, Garfy shared both warbands from the Wyrdhollow set, and for the weekend, there'll be a review of Warcry: Nightmare Quest.

This week I'm also working on the Nostalgia 94 paints review, which will be my next video. Not sure if I'll be able to finish it for Saturday, most likely it will go live Saturday next week. If so, I'll share the video script here on Patreon as a little teaser.

Have a nice rest of the week!

Shambling Undead almost finished!

So, I got a good amount of painting done this weekend, and I'm happy to say  that my Shambling Undead Blitz Bowl team is pretty much complete. Just need to blend the transfers in, give them a final check up, and apply some varnish. Really happy with them, and I guess a tutorial for them will end up as next month's Aspect Warrior tier freebie, as they cover quite a few interesting painting techniques.

How to paint Killzone Moroch terrain (masterclass tutorial)

Here comes May's Aspect Warrior exclusive: a new masterclass PDF tutorial for painting my Killzone Moroch Sector Fronteris terrain. This tutorial contains my favorite techniques for getting a lot of terrain done quickly. My trick is to establish a lot of depth and volume with easy techniques such as drybrushing and weathering, and only pick out a handful of details to add some more visual interest without spending an endless amount of time. After all, terrain should only be a backdrop and not...

Wow, I'm still recovering from all those Warhammerfest reveals... anyways, here is a little teaser of the next paint reviews coming up. I got the new Nostalgia 94 paints from Warcolours, which are modelled after the late 90s Citadel Colour range in the hexagonal white lid fliptop pots, the Speedpaint 2.0 Complete Set so I can complete my one coat paint swatch, plus a few interesting liquid pigment sets from Green Stuff World :)

Finally some painting!

I finally made some painting progress since I arrived back home. I'm currently working on the final three models for my Blitz Bowl Undead team. Enjoying them very much, I'm using a zenithal approach plus Contrast and additional glazes and highlights, a bit like Slapchop but with some extra work on the details. Works very well, especially for the Zombies. I recorded all the painting stages for a future tutorial, so these might very well end up as a Patreon exclusive for June :)

Back home!

I'm back home! And I brought a lot of loot with me. Here is all the hobby related stuff I bought (I spare you the heaps of candy I bought). I went heavy on the Gundam kits and Japanese brands, as with the weak yen and some clever tax-free shopping, these are so cheap compared to what you pay for them here, about half of what I would pay here. Oh, and I also bought a new airbrush, so I can finally progress from cheap Chinese knockoff airbrushes to a proper Japanese airbrush :)

How is it going? A warm welcome to all new patrons 🙇🏻 It‘s my final week in Japan, and I visited the Gundam Factory in Yokohama today. Really awesome place, even if you‘re not into Gundam. It has an enormous life-size Gundam, 18m high, and it‘s moving!

So for the blog we had my showcase for the Sons of Horus Praetor yesterday, tomorrow, Garfy will share his latest models, and for the weekend, there will be a review featuring a certain Primarch…

Until then, happy hobb...
