Blitz Bowl Zombie

A warm welcome to all new Patrons 🙇🏻🙇🏻🙇🏻 I‘m still in Tokyo for this week, but I‘ll get back to you next week. in the meantime, here is the final model I painted before my vacation. A Zombie for my Blitz Bowl team. I went with subtle hues of purple for his skin, think it gies really nicely with the red and crimson gear. Hipe you‘re having a good one!

This week on Tale of Painters

Sorry for the delay, I‘m still struggling with the time difference 😅 I arrived in Tokyo safe & sound, and visited the new Warhammer Cafe flagship store in Akihabara. Very nice place, very spacious, and amaaazing displays. I‘m gonna do a video when I‘m home!

Anyways, this week, I updated my „one coat“ paint swatches post, Garfy will share his Lord of Hubris today, and for the weekend there‘ll be a look at Green Stuff World‘s Basic tools starter set.

This week on Tale of Painters

Yesterday I shared a post about my Fell Bats, which also includes all the paint recipes I used. For Thursday, Garfy will share a showcase post for one of his latest painting endeavours, and for the weekend, I planned a tutorial for painting pale purple daemonic skin, taken from my Alpha Legion Anointed. This post was originally planned for last week, but since the Boarding Patrols arrived just in time, I had to postpone the tutorial to this week.

Next week I'll be travelling to Tokyo, a...

Blitz Bowl Skellies

So, last week I spent on painting two more Skellies for my Blitz Bowl team, and now I'm making a start on a Zombie. These were quite fun to paint, combining zenithal highlights and "slapchop" techniques with additional highlights and glazes. I recorded all steps for a future Patreon exclusive tutorials, so stay tuned :)

A lot of people seem to like my hand-painted colour swatches, and also asked me to combine them all into a single graphic covering all "one coat" paint ranges. So this is what I'll do! The graphic will feature ALL Contrast, Xpress Color, Dipping Inks, and the 49 colours from the Speedpaint 2.0 Mega Set, and come to Patreon as next month's Aspect Warrior freebie in an ultra high-res uncompressed 5000x6000 px image file.

Bit of a slow week on the blog as I'm still recovering from all the work of the Speedpaint 2.0 video (check it out here: https://youtu.be/kTIRVX74u0g, it's pulling good numbers but really thought it would perform better) and have to prepare content for my two weeks vacation in April. I'll be visiting Tokyo and I plan to film my favourite hobby places and spots for a future video, should be fun!

Video script: Speedpaint 2.0 review

Hey guys, I'm still working on my Speedpaint 2.0 video (this will be one of my most laborious videos ever!) so I can't give you a sneak peek yet, but I thought it would be nice to put my video script on Patreon early, for those that are toying with the thought of preordering. Here are my thoughts:

Speedpaints are loved by some for their unique blending properties, while others hate that the paints reactivate and bleed through subsequent layers of paint. The Army Painter were fa...

Blitz Bowl & Horus assembly

This week I finished painting my Moroch terrain, and started two new projects. I assembled the remaining six models of my Undead Blitz Bowl team (I mounted them on temporary bases for painting). They are meant to compliment the test model for the Xpress Color review which you can see on the right. I also finally made some progress on cleaning Horus. This will be a a slowburn project, I want to spend a couple of days each month on him and see how long it takes.

Painting Fell Bats

Hope all is well! Last week I started work on the Fell Bats, quite fun to paint actually, different to what I usually paint. I want to keep them fairly black, with only a few subtle shades of grey, so I started by drybrushing them with Dark Reaper, Thunderhawk Blue and Warpaints Uniform Grey. Now I need to fill in all the details and add a few edge highlights as well, the model in the front is my test model, quite happy with how the face turned out. I added a few subtle glazes of Carroburg Cr...

Tale of Painters is finally back up and running. It seemed we outgrow our old server, which resulted in downtime and slow loading times. Over the last weekend, I had to download a backup (about 8 GB, over 12 years of content!) and reinstall it on a new server. After a few mishaps along the way I'm very happy to see everything back to normal so I can focus on creating content again!

Yesterday my review of Redgrass' Everlasting Wet Palette went online, I had written this quite a while ago...

I noticed I haven't painted anything for my Soulblight/Nighthaunt collection in ages, and I though the bats would make a fun little project.
