Here comes the completely revised version 2.0 of the first part of my ultimate miniature paint guide.
In this ten-page document you will find the quintessence of over 1000 miniature paints that I have tested and tried out so far. You will find the pros & cons of the most popular brands like Citadel Colour, Two Thin Coats, Vallejo Game Color (old & new range), Vallejo Model Color, and The Army Painter Warpaints, as well as my favourite colours from each, and which better to avoid...

This week we'll go with the flow. Garfy has a lot of painted models from Imperium to share, as well as something we can't yet talk about, so stay tuned for that. I'll do a short review for the Citadel Sub-Assembly Holder I picked up, and photograph my Silver Skulls Impulsor so I can share it next week. Happy hobbying!

So I finally took the plunge and invested in a new camera, thanks to your support here on Patreon!
I found this used Canon M50 in great condition on ebay. I'm upgrading from a 14 MP DSLR to this 24 MP mirrorless model. The jump in mega pixels will enhance the picture quality of my tutorials, allowing me to zoom in more so you will be able to better see what I'm doing. It also has much better video capabilities than my old camera. In 2022, I want to make more video content for YouT...

Today I share my Necron Warriors Fire Team on the blog, which I posted a while ago on Patreon, I finished these before my vacation. Garfy is busy working through all the terrain from Warcry: Red Harvest, so he can start doing tutorials for the warbands next week.
For the weekend, I try to prepare a follow-up to my Warpaints Air review (https://taleofpainters.com/2021/10/re...

So, my first video was a cinematic showcase video, but I also want to make video tutorials. Thanks to your Patreon support, I was able to invest in the necessary camera accessoires and lights, so here you can see a snapshot of my first tutorial filming session. It‘ll be about enamel washes made easy, and hopefully be completed in a couple of weeks 😊

I'm on vacation at the moment, so I haven't been able to paint for the last couple of days. To make sure you don't get bored here on Patreon, I've created a cool scenic shot for my Necron Warrior Fire Team I painted for the new edition of Kill Team, which included the three Easy to Build Necron Warriors from issue 2 of Imperium. Hope you like them, and if so, check out my Patreon exclusive Necron Warrior tutorial :)

I teased this one a couple of times, but here it is. My first ever YouTube video, in time for our ten year anniversary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgX2pdRl2pY
It's a cinematic showcase video inspired by Games Workshop's new releases trailers, and it was a fun project to learn video editing and animation.
I'll definitely want to make more video content, and also video tutorials and review...

We've planned a lot of cool stuff for October. There'll be a retrospective. The Army Painter will sponsor the anniversary with loads of prizes for us to give away. There'll be a little something for both Guardian Defender tier patrons an...

The fantastic chaps at The Army Painter sent me a bucket load of samples of their product lineup for this year. I've got Gamemaster terrain kits, the new Skin Tones paint set, and the Warpaints Air sets.
So far I was only able to take a closer look at the Skin Tones paint set and was very impressed with the selection and especially the opacity of the paints included, much better than GW's skin tones. I was also to test the prototypes of their Airbrush paint range, so I'm curious t...

This week is all about Kill Team. Check out my unboxing post, where I share a few of my initial impressions. I think the changes to Kill Team will be polarising, while it's great that Kill Team has been redesigned from the ground up and feels more like a proper skirmish game than 40k with some extra rules, there are a few game design choices that are quite baffling. At least the models leave nothing to be desired.
On Wednesday, we'll have a tutorial for 2 quick & easy ways to paint ...

I thought it would be nice if I'd share the photo backdrops I use for my scenic pictures. These are meant to be printed in A3 format (your local copy shop might help), then folded at the white space, so you can slide them underneath a gaming board and mount them on a wall with some blue-tac or a strip of tape. The PDF includes 7 different backgrounds to choose from.
Would you like to learn more about the way I do my photographs?
