Odaiba Day 25th Anniversary - Complete breakdown

Odaiba Memorial 25th Anniversary

Technically it's August 1st in Japan right now - I made it just in time!

August 1st is the day when the characters of Digimon first went to the Digital World, and it ended up becoming an important day to both the characters and the fans. Since this year is also Digimon's 25th anniversary I wanted to do something special, an idea that I've had on the backburner for several years now. Sora & Biyomon (& Yokomon!)

I'm not sure what happened but Sora ended up being really hard to draw despite being a relatively simple pose, so this one took a while for me to get motivated again. This is mostly a reference to the first episode where the kids see their Digimon digivolve for the first time, but Sora's pose is a bit of a reference to a scene in episode 4 as well. This is one of three sketches that I've brought back from the initial sketch pages I started several years ago!

This ended up being a complicated pose so I wanted to try a second pass at it along with a couple other changes - they're ready to go now!

Managed to knock out one more of these! I'm definitely going to have to move these two around a bit, but I'll get a better idea of what that looks like when I finish Sora - I might at least end up moving Gato's tail a bit out of the way, but we'll see. Only two more groups to go!
