The CZ 806 "BREN 2" is the latest and final (so far) iteration of the Czech Military's formally adapted weapon system. Greatly improving up on ergonomics and decreasing more than 1lb of weight, the BREN 2 has a nickname as the "SCAR killer".
So did the weight loss come at a price with accuracy or usability? How would an ideal setup for a mid-distance range be like for the rifle? What type of practical accuracy could we expect from it? Ammunition used: Magte...

NEW RECORD HOLDER!!!
The HK 416 was an amalgamation of the M4 and G36 (AR18) gas system. The current standard issue for the Norweigian Armed Forces, and soon to be for the French Army.
Developed for the express purpose of supplying a reliable and accurate firearm for US Special Operations Forces, the HK416 is also known for taking down Bin Laden. Later adapted by the USMC as the M27 (with modifications), the HK416 serves as a main weapon for many forces around th...

In this PA Session, we take a monster of a shotgun onto the close range course. The VEPR 12 on it's own is an awesome shotgun, but this version has been worked over by Dissident Arms, and renamed, the KL12. So how well does this competition shotgun do on our course? Pretty dang well!

The Dragunov SVD is one of the most iconic Sniper/DMR rifles to exist, but is it good?
What makes it tick? What are the differences between the Chinese and Russian variants? We take a deep dive into the history, theory and implementation behind the SVD, and look at why the Soviets had one of the world's most advanced sniper weapon systems... in the 1960's.
**This film was researched heavily with Chinese-text and English sources**

Tomorrow, we will explore the Dragunov SVD (Chinese Type 85/ NDM86) in great detail. We think this was the best semi-auto cold-war era DMR or "Eastern Bloc Sniper" rifle.

It’s hard to believe that the iconic Steyr AUG has been around since the 70’s and still in military service around the world. It wasn’t just the amalgamation of polymer and steel that caught the world’s attention, but also the operating system.
For those in the Austrian, Australian, Irish and New Zealand military, the AUG had been hailed as the king of bull pups. How well does it perform at distance in 22mph wind gusts with a Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS reticle? ...

The Russian Makarov PM was a symbol of the Soviet Union. Everything from the cartridge to the pistol design was an overhaul in the 50's for a newer, more robust, easily maintained pistol with a safety. The straight blow-back action used the 9x18mm makarov cartridge, similar to the Walther PP in 9mm Kurz.
We've shot the PPK in 9mm Kurz in the past and it had horrible ergonomics, high recoil... and performed poorly on the course. What about the Soviet take on the direct-b...

Every year during hunting season, men sit around campfires and talk about how far they can hit a deer with their hunting rifle. Well... what is the combat effectiveness of the hunting rifle? What type of effect does heat have on the thin barrels?
How exactly true is the famous 1984 documentary, "Red Dawn" with a group of high school students defending themselves with hunting rifles and shotguns against the Russians? We find out.

Made famous from it's use in the various James Bond films, the Walther Arms, Inc. PPK is a pistol which may not be appear as an optimal choice in terms of modern handgun options; specifically when considering capacity or weight....But let's see how it preforms on the practical accuracy course!

The M16A1 was the first to be a new symbol of the American serviceman. Lightweight, nimble and fired the new 5.56 caliber cartridge in the 1960's. Nowadays, there are many competitors who use the derivations of the M16A1 as a competition rifle, but exactly how was this firearm when compared to the M14 on the distance course? We clock this Brownells reproduction of the old Colt M16A1 to find out.
The M16A1 was designed as a 300m weapon with limited adjustments on the sta...

We hear it over and over about how "easy" it is to use a shotgun for many scenarios. Is that true? Are shotguns really a beginner's firearm, or is it a multi-tool that requires some more training behind it?

The Dirt Squirrel, the Walmart brand version of the Honey Badger by Q.
This nimble firearm with a PSA 8in FN CHF barrel shoots suppressed and unsuppressed 300blackout. No change in parts necessary.
Clears targets up to 300m with confidence, and greatly outperforms it's SMG counterparts... but how does it compare to the real Honey Badger by Q? Find out with us.

Post-war Great Britain saw a drastic change in firearm laws, and one of the ways to own an SMLE No.1 Lee Enfield would be to purchase a BSA converted .410 shotgun. The base of the .303 British was actually nearly identical to the .410 shell.
Unlike the Ishapore versions of No.1 shotguns in .410, this BSA conversion actually feeds from the magazine (not always reliable, and can only hold 3 shells).
That said, the .410 SMLE shotgun is still in curre...

How does the Dragunov SVD stack up against western DMR type rifles? How does the Russian and the Chinese variants differ from each other? There are many speculations on the internet about which one is better and how the two are the same.
Henry takes a near mint Chinese NDM-86 (Type 85 SVD clone) to the DMR course with some very surprising results and findings. Bottom line, if you are in combat are you come up against a hostile combatant using one of these... well... bru...

The MP5 is one of the most iconic sub-guns on the planet, and we were excited to get the chance to take this one out for a spin on the PA close range course. In the 1960's, Swiss competition shooters took the military K31 and put diopter sights on them for their fixed range match shooting. This unleashed a whole new era of iron-sight precision from the venerable K31.
No other nation has military issued ammunition with match-grade quality like the S...

About 1,100 Zfk 31/42 rifles exist in the world, and 2,300 of these side-scope snipers were manufactured. This was in an era when sniper rifles with optics were still being developed. Optical quality was finally starting to give marksmen an edge (not always), and militaries were eager to develop optic-enabled rifles for their marksmen.
From the design, we can see that the Swiss wanted to come up with a solution that the marksman could keep a low silhouette, coul...
