Bag Tag - Design Feedback... Feedback

Dear Insane Children,

Thank you! For all the feedback on the Cheshire Kitten Adoption Certificate

In this post I'll explain why I've rejected all your comments! Yay!

Er, yeah, seriously... Here goes!

First, Priscilla asked why we didn't include the "don't insert the earring into your orifices" warning. If you don't understand this reference then you clearly didn't watch last week's 2019-07-27 02:11:35 +0000 UTC View Post

Cheshire Kitten Adoption Certificate (Tag)

Dear Insane Children,

Above I've shared a draft of what the Cheshire Kitten Adoption Certificate tag might look like. And I would like your feedback on the design, contents, and placement. Here's the idea so far...

  • This tag will measure 10x10cm
  • It will be placed inside the Cheshire Cat Nylon Bag below the snap-pocket.
  • It will be made from a white nylon material with black print... similar to this:

Non-Euclidean Worlds

Dear Insane Children,

A recent concept image from Jennifer for a Croquet Coaster found in the Circus Domain got me thinking about Escher-esque design concepts. There are a number of game developers implementing non-euclidean geometry in game engines and this is work I think we can continue when we start dev work on Alice: Asylum.

Posted above is a video which illustrates the implementation of this sort of thinking within a 3D-engine. Can you imagine th...

Got TONS done during this Stream-Free week. Really appreciate everyone's understanding and patience while we took a break from YouTube/Discord stuff and focused on business development tasks related to Alice: Asylum, Pirate Jam 2020, and Mysterious. Yay!

But I wanted to quickly share an update related to the Cheshire Kitten Collector Set. <...

Down The Rabbit Hole (of BD)

Dear Insane Children,

Last week I took multiple people + Lulu to the hospital (multiple times) (different hospitals) plus tried to stay on top of the usual business of updates, design work, streaming, etc. All of which meant a pretty insane week with not a lot of time left for all the things on my to-do list.

This week I'd like to devote some time to catching up on everything so...

Happiness in Contradiction

Dear Insane Children,

Apologies for being quiet lately - I've been playing hospital ambulance driver and nurse for a sick doggo and a pregnant wife. Everyone is doing alright now but Lulu required a bit of minor surgery and Yan's hospital visits are now becoming weekly. Only 8 weeks left until the arrival of Freedom Gas McGee (we really need to come up with a better name). And Lulu's recovering nicely. She's a tough little doggy...

Illusion and Dissonance

Dear Insane Children,

Our team of artists and designers, powered by your support, continue cranking out some really amazing ideas. The main effort these days is focused on the events that lead us into the story of Alice: Asylum... The Fire, Alice's confrontation with Chaos, and her transition into the Stage of Denial.

With Denial we're brainstorming another theatrical presentation (like the one you saw in Alice: Madness Returns) which makes sense when you think about w...

Botanical Mechanical Livestream

Dear Insane Children,

It's been a whirlwind of days - showing off the highlights of China and Shanghai. Seeing it fresh through the eyes of uninitiated American tourists... I can't help but be impressed by all the progress and development made since when I first arrived in Asia 15 years ago. But enough about that...  After a week of carting my parents around the local wonders of Shanghai and surrounding provinces, I'm finally getting back to the care and feeding of our Asylum...

Exploring, Shock, and Family

Dear Insane Children,

American here with a long-overdue update. First, an apology for the delay since my last post. As many of you know, my mother, step-father, and Yan's mom are all visiting Shanghai these days. This is my mother's first visit to China since I left the US 15 years ago. And we've taken them all around the city and surrounding area to view the sights and eat lots of yummy food. They are having a blast but I hardly have any time in the day for work or updates. ...

Memory is a Fairytale

Dear Insane Children,

Do you know how memory works? Many people believe they remember things like a video recording - each moment captured frame by frame, filled with sound, sight, and emotion. And that events can be recalled, even years later, full of detail and meaning.

But the reality is that you don't so much "recall" the memory of events as you "retell" them like a narrator. And with each retelling your brain makes small edits - changing events, filling in blanks,...

Dinah in the Living Room with the Oil Lamp

Dear Insane Children,

A bit of murder scene reconstruction going on with our art team. They're trying to define the setting, characters, set pieces, and timeline for "Slumber" - the period of time prior to the fire (Pryor Fire).

Jen  sends along a 3D mock-up and says, "Alice 's room is the furthest away from where the fire started, hence she was able to jump out the window. The parents and sister were trapped by proximity, the multiple doors would have delayed the...

Slumber Before the Fire

Dear Insane Children,

It is the nature of Chaos to arrive when we least expect it. Order and calm are the natural origin of Chaos. And Chaos is the precursor to order. Like sleep turns to waking and waking to sleep. Somewhere in the divide is Slumber - that space where time passes without awareness, without concern.

We drive to work without being aware of the actions we perform or the route we take. Until one day there's an instantaneous explosion of glass and steel. O...
