Holy crap ya'll....I was watching the Swan Lake Odette solo recently with Misty Copeland of all people. I've never been a fan of her dancing or her style but wow....this was perhaps the most glaringly flawed performance by a professional I have seen. Her posture, her sloppy footwork, poor technique. Bambi

I just saw the third act of Bambi randomly...which terrified me as a child far more than the death of the mother, for whatever reason. Haven't seen any of this film in over 25 years likely, but I'm realizing how much Fox and the Hound copied many elements of the big climax with the hunters.

Are ya'll following this stuff as closely as I am? Wild case man. Very wild. And get's weirder and weirder by the day. What is most interesting to me are their Instagram accounts. Social media tells you everything. Clearly those accounts are being used still every single day. Comments disabled, adding followers, etc.. But how? And where? I have this weird thing about cases where people disappear. But this one is one of the more strange ones I've seen in a while.

I am heartbroken over this. I even had a weird feeling a week ago, so I watched his final standup routine that he did in the spring of 2020. Norm was the most brilliant man in the business. It finally Happened...Burnout ><

All those times I said I was gonna take a break but never really did I suppose were just trial runs. This week my body just said nope, you're done. Take a breather. So I apologize there's no topic video this week. I've been dealing with a lot in my personal life...and it's one of those things where I just needed a week to really reflect and deal with it. Boy Meets World

A Movie I Had Never Seen Until Yesterday

I admit I never saw Nicolas Refn's DRIVE (2011) for one very good reason: My younger brother was a huge fan of it when we were teens and naturally...I had to ignore it completely purely out of spite. You know...like big sister's do. He even has a replica version of the scorpion silk jacket. But I finally watched it last night. Have some initial reactions that have been marinating the last 24 hours. Surprisingly, I actually saw ONLY GOD FORGIVES (2013) a couple years ago. So...strange reversal...

FIGHT CLUB

Ya'll....I've dated a lot of men in my time. Thinking back on it....almost all of them were obsessed, or still obsessed with Fight Club and Tyler Durden. I guess I can understand when you're a teen or whatever. But why are so many grown men still so enamored with it? Beyond just the patriarchal commentary as it existed in the 90s.

I literally just finished watching Leos Carax's new film, Annette. I have a lot of feelings bouncing around after the initial viewing. And I'm slowly trying to bring them into focus. Has anyone seen it yet? Would love to hear your opinion. I'm personally quite torn on it, at the moment.

De Palma vs. Hawks

I'm reviewing the Scarface remake as you might have guessed. By any chance, has anyone seen the original film by Howard Hawks? Part of me prefers aspects of the original more, actually. I wondered what your thoughts were, if you have any.

Trilogy

I've been on a Brian De Palma kick lately. I decided to work on a review for Blow Out, which I'm excited about. That film, and The Conversation, which coincidentally I rewatched a couple of weeks ago, are both heavily influenced by the film Blow Up, by Antonioni. Blow Up of course is one of my favorite films of all time. But that trilogy inspiration reminds me quite a bit of Persona, 3 Women, and Mulholland Drive.
