As is appropriate for a close-to-Christmas update, this one will largely focus on Beebot, who of course got his whole own story arc last year for the holidays. We'd have liked to do something similar again, but we've kind of committed to getting this story underway. It sets up really important stuff!

The pencils sort of give away the final panel joke. Because what else would Cassiopeia do when given a piece of paper? And don't say make a paper airplane, 'cause in zero gravity there's no point! You could just crumple the paper up into a ball and it would fly as well.

This page is gonna get its dialogue cut down a bit - if people are interested, I may post the initial version with the first pass of dialogue intact later. You can see how obstructive it looks with all these balloons everywhere.
It's got to really feel like the characters (except for Zeke and his magnetized feet) are floating around in the air on the spaceship, and that's a bit hard to get across with lots of words-words-words in balloons blocking their way.

I think this page is the first time we'll be featuring regular old dogs in the comic. Which makes me happy. I want dogs to be around for a long time to come. They're our BFF species, you know - we made them, and it was our first shot at crafting an animal, so hopefully there's a sense of responsibility there that'll continue.

I had written this as four equally-sized panels with each of their faces just kind of existing as movie introduction cards, like they were characters in the upcoming "job" and it did freeze-frames. A good tendency I have is to write five-panel pages. There are a lot of ways you can combine five panels, varying the sizes, leaving enough space for a big image, and establishing shot, enough chances to show the characters progress through a full set of interactions... point is, you can do lots of kinds of "shots" with five panels.
