The Body-Snatchifiers, Pt. 1
This CASSIOPEIA QUINN UPDATE shows us that there are two kinds of readers: The kind who stick to heavy, leather-bound tomes... and the kind who can check this comic out on their tablet.

Psu: There has got to be a more comfortable way to fall out of a zoom tube...
Gunwild: I assume it was less comfy a landing than usual because they had to flush some people out midway through transit. Maybe that's what the purple sign thing on it means... or "Watch out for a purple Vanaa moving at dangerously high speeds."
Psu: Sorry to get side tracked, but back on the writing this was a surprisingly happy ending in spite of what happen...

For the next chapter, I'm planning on doing the lines a little differently. We're going to lose something of the sharpness because I'm switching to a "pencil" method. I may swap that out or swap to a different pen but for at least the first few pages I'm going to see if I can shave a little time on the production without losing any of the quality. If you wanna see a comparison of what it looked like the last time I used pencil, you can look at the Beebot Storyline from last Christmas. I'm not su...

Psu: Good colors, I really liked the overall calmness of this page.
Gunwild:I think it's probably the coolest reveal I'll manage in this series... luckily I planned out this lil' twist before we did page one of it. I always like when people use their treacherous sneaky machination powers for good.
Psu: Yeah, I remember we talked a lot about how it was Ison who could actually percieve this and not Madison. Madison is a good and honorable ...

This Cassiopeia Quinn update presupposes that biting your tongue makes your aim better.
Seems legit!
Up next is a big fancy cover for a new storyline. It's kind of cool the way the shadowy figure's legs guide the eye up towards Cassiopeia's face. But oh, no! She's going to shoot that perfectly innocent floating chapter title!

It's good to feel comfortable with your coworkers like this. Especially if you're comfortable enough to tell them about your favorite webcomic, Cassiopeia Quinn!
Not gonna lie, this is gonna be a sad one. On the plus side, I think it makes a good use of its seven panels, with the cuts showing a similar space but depicting different actions, and thereby effectively implying the passage of time. So, uh, cheer up, Kettlehead! At least there's technical competence afoot!

Gunwild: Things to call attention to here: One, I love the Vanaa spacesuits. Two, it's very nice of the Vanaa to put out that planet they set on fire even though it was uninhabited. Probably they appreciated it nice and liquidy.
Psu: I remember strugglign to get this page out but it has a load of things I'm happy with. Among them are the things Gunwild has just mentioned. The different Vanaa ships that look like Vanaa ships of different makes and models makes ...

Gunwild: It'd be in bad taste to pat ourselves on the back, here. I'm only happy that at least a few hundred people felt enough connection to this comic we did on the event of Leonard Nimoy's death that they shared it around, in the hopes it would help others too.
Psu: Look, if you're going to interrupt your comic with a side strip, it either better be very funny or very poignant.
Gunwild: I hope this was at least a bit of ea...

Howdy folks (especially you new patrons)! It's always a treat to reward you guys for your contributions and patience with a new pinup... so here it is! Mercy was runner-up last month, so Psu thought she had some attention coming. Agree? Disagree? Have ideas? Let us know with comments!
This pinup is shaping up nicely, sure, but what happened to Mercy's clothes? Only Psu knows for sure... maybe her outfit was made of the same stuff Empowered wears. Also note that this one's getting colors before the inks are really nailed down, partly because what colors the "target" was wearing weren't planned out ahead of time and needed to be decided right on the canvas.

After some accidental delays, this page is almost done, down to the colors and even most of the shading. As you can tell, necessary but labor-intensive stuff like the pattern on Talps's outfit and the "shine" on Prince Gleb's fancy outfit are the things that get added last.

Gunwild: One thing we used to see in sci-fi stuff a lot is people kind of "swimming" to navigate in zero gravity. I'm glad that's mostly gone now.
Psu: This is a ridiculous page. I think I remember reading the script and thinking, this is a ridiculous page.
Gunwild: Well, yeah, but that doesn't mean it's BAD...
Psu: There's a world on fire in the background, with a horizon looking out into space. A bunch of the cha...

Gunwild: Hey everybody, see that Vanaa clutching his head in the lower left of the first panel...?
Psu: Any chance I get to reference THAT Superman cover I will take it. This is another one of those wildly weird pages that are just natural to our comic. I know we spent a lot of time thinking up ways to mess with the unusual biology of our aliens.
Gunwild: Psu's talkin' about Action Comics #1. It's got a guy doing that with his hands and ...

Something is afoot... er... well, Vanaa don't have feet. But anyway, this is gonna be a bit of a downer one. Still, stay with us, because this is the part of a story where you can learn what the heroes are made of because there are obstacles worthy of them.
Note the teeny tiny Talps in the second panel, watching from up high. I didn't catch that in the first pass, I admit it. It was just gonna go directly to that shot with Krad being a jerk in it.
The course of goo love never did run smo...

How do you take your tea, anyway?
Manga is full of panels like number three there, where an object is centered on while two people are talking in a room. It allows for variety in the images on the page, but also mimics how your attention might go in a real conversation. You know, when you're not super comfortable meeting the other person's eyes, so you focus on your coffee or a lamp or something...

Gunwild: Now, in the Mass Effect series of video games, they mention that they use prototype oscillating shields to help knock aside projectiles and debris and stuff, but it's only in a document hidden in some side room. And I was like "Maybe it would help to just speed your regular-shielded ship...?"
Gunwild: So it's actually a pretty solid sci-fi concept about deflecting things using energy shields rather than just absorbing them... but as with everything ou...

Looks like we might be starting a Very Special Episode of Cassiopeia Quinn...
Gunwild: The to/from card joke is so small I wonder if anyone missed it?
Psu: Oh my god this is so dorky and sweet it actually hurt my insides to see it again.
Gunwild: Do you remember that "gloob" considerably predates the first use of the Vanaa in the comic?
Psu: Actually I don't, what did we use it in?

What kind of future weird vegetables are those, anyway? They look like... rutabega? Radishes? Turnips? Perhaps they're a science-y hybrid with the best qualities of all three. Still don't know what you would call that, though!
Is this a Cassiopeia Quinn update, or a backdoor pilot for a goofy situation comedy? You be the judge.
Psu getting home from that eclipse-viewing trip made us so happy that we discarded the thing we had planned. Or put it off, anyway. Instead we wrote this one in a chat together. So, there actually wasn't a script this time, just me pitching dialogue and it getting sketched around live. Unusual! Hopefully when you read it you'll like it, but the faces are actually pretty good already...

Gunwild: Happy Love Day!
Psu: I love this strip but in retrospect, it's one of those that really gets in the way of the flow of a story. Probably in a collected version, I'd separate these out of the flow of the chapter. Otherwise this is a nice bit of silly cuteness. And I think we do another one. Which I suppose kinda gets in the way of a space ship flying vertically to chase another tiny one...
Gunwild: Look, we gotta play to our stre...

This next pinup will be a special public service announcement about how you should eat your vegetables! Of course, they'll be space vegetables you can't actually buy in a store, but that's not the point!

Why look at the stars? All we ever see of them is their old photographs. Read this Cassiopeia Quinn update instead!
As Psu is going on a trip to see that there full eclipse, we decided to insert a faster-to-draw page here with some lighter stuff. Normally that'd mean we think up a squarish 4koma, but we wanted it to be about the two guards who Mercy so recently spaced. Some people were concerned about them.
Art-wise, this won't be as quick a job as a 4koma would be, but Psu gets to do backgrounds that are starfields, which is a particular strength. Hopefully that'll save a night or two of work but still be ...

Gunwild: Panel 2's Maddy is one of my favorite poses in the comic. But the whole last panel is among my favorite images.
Psu: I'm not sure about the syntax on Dogz_=_no
Psu: There's a lot of this page that's a heck of a lot of fun. The gravity, Cassiopeia being smug and sexy, a dumb cat joke, Skwidj being absolutely adorable. The blue line of the tiny space ship giving me an easy visual to show movement of a space ship that's mostly off ...
