The light dictated this location:
Because a large window provided a wonderful soft sidelight, I just needed an excuse to place her there.
The overhead wooden breams provided that, at least when I tied her to the ceiling.
From there on, it was a question of determining what background worked best.
I love the domestic feel of this: It’s a “place,” and it becomes believable. Perhaps in your (wet) dreams, but nonetheless.
By the way, binding someone allows them to p...

Last summer, I was shooting with Madam Sophie. I was conflicted with her tattoos (especially the large owl on her breast), which didn’t work well with the environment. So I had her curl up a bit, and suddenly, I got a flashback from the first Terminator movie where Arnold is transported back in time naked.
I used that to create something that worked with Sophie.
I later warmed up to the tattoos and figured out ways to use them.

I did a workshop with Wianamodel, The Endless Sinner, and Lou Lou models this summer.
In the afternoon, the participants were shooting around the house, and some found that shooting Wiana in this upper-floor window was a great idea.
I did a few shots myself using a Sigma 105mm, which is the longest lens I own.
But the background didn’t resonate much with me; I couldn't think of an apparent reason for Wiana being in that window.
And I didn’t want to take over the dire...

Allow me to extend a thousand thanks for following along here and supporting my photography!
This set is with the fantastic Minka Model on my Rococo couch. All except the last one was shot with a 24-70mm ƒ2.8 Signs Zoom lens. The last image I shot with my 50mm ƒ0.95
Everything was shot with various degrees of daylight streaming in through the windows, diffused with some LEE opal filter to soften the sun, and the results were beautiful.
You can see more in the BT...

I shot with Lena Dancer in October, and we were graced with one of the last warm days and beautiful skies, so of course, we made the most of that. This set is from some rolled-up bales where Lean is doing fantastic shapes.
Light clouds slightly diffused the sun, but the main challenge here was getting them to be of equal contrast: Some had a lot of native contrast, and some had much less due to more diffusion. The light cover on the bales reflects a lot of light, so there is also a grea...

Say hello to Miss Carter
I was lucky enough to have Daniella Carter fly over to visit for a couple of days Last month, where we had two days to shoot.
Just consider this as a tiny teaser for what’s to come, as there are some awesome images in the pipeline.
Shot with natural light from my two studio windows.

This is the first shot I did at my newly wallpapered part of the studio.
It’s challenging to shoot at as it’s too small; I will need to create a board/set-piece I can place next to it to make a corner.
I can’t remember what I used Lightwise; I think it was a 57” zeppelin deep umbrella with a soft grid. Or a reflective umbrella.

This is still one of the most memorable shots I’ve done last year, with Fatima Kojima at Arsenic’s villa in LA. Fatima is a somatic sex coach and a very erotic being, which I think shines through in these images.
We hadn’t discussed doing something erotic; it just happened: She started a little bit, and I responded enthusiastically, and then we just fed off each other.
From a technical point of view, it was a bit challenging because of the brutal sun streaming through the wi...

To elaborate on my post From Dec. 22: After leaving Kullaberg in the morning with Belzen, we drove back to my studio and shot for another 5-6 hours before I dropped her off at the airport.
As I said, the better you can utilize the time, the easier it is to justify the cost.
This is the last set ever shot at my Le Corbusier (knockoff) sofa, using natural light from two windows. I sold the couch a few days later.

In September last year, I was in LA and did a shoot with Kaylee Killion at the FD rental studios in this Moroccan-inspired studio.
This is simply a window light.
When you see this, I suppose it’s easy to understand why photographers would love to have a daylight studio, right?

Since Christmas is approaching, I thought showing some images involving “gift wrapping” would be appropriate.
This is daylight from two windows straight behind the camera and shot with my 50mm ƒ0.95 lens. I’m so in love with the bokeh and how the sharpness quickly disappears outside the focal area. This look is close to what you can get when shooting in large format (4x5”/8x10”), especially with older lenses near full aperture.

I enjoy cooking, but I decided to let Clara Sinclair take place in front of the stove in this particular set. She looks much better than I do while cooking.
This set was shot in a small summer cabin using available light.
Watch the BTS movie for specifics.

A couple of months ago, I brought Belzen to Sweden to shoot on the black rocks of Kullaberg.
White skin juxtaposed with dark rocks is an exquisite combination, making it easy for the model to stand out from the background.
A few people have asked how I can afford to do trips like this, so let me let you in on a bit of that:
First, I’m very privileged that many models like my images and want to shoot with me collaboratively.
And whether I do that or pay the model, get...

When we arrived at the Airbnb I had booked in Mallorca, I quickly noticed this pulley wheel above the old well and wanted to do something Shibari with it, but it had to be done in the morning because of the light.
In the morning, the house would shield the place from the direct sun so that the sky would serve as a massive softbox.
One of the last days, we finally had time in the morning and managed to shoot this fantastic set.
I do love to work with models who indulge in my ...

The excellent Ashleigh Rae in the control tower.
This is a different corner of the building, but I’m in love with the light and walls in this place.
Which of these do you prefer?
For me, the third one with the outstretched hand has something very enticing about it.

I had arranged to shoot with Dixie Model at an abandoned ferry quay. Among all the concrete structures, I had an association with an athlete doing gymnastics, so we set out to make some sets of the more, erm, sexy variants of gymnastics.

Who hasn’t dreamt of taking a (hot) shower with a model?
Well, Mynte invited me into the bathroom while she had one, which is the next closest thing.
I tried to keep this natural while she milled about doing her thing.
I had to shoot these through a mirror (while sitting on the toilet) as this was the only way to get a proper view without an extreme wide angle.
I do like the steaming up of the mirror, though; it seems very appropriate, considering the set.
For Ph...

I’ve been sitting on this set for a long time and started editing the images in Lightroom a few times. But I could never get it to work:
The challenge is they were shot in the open shade in Lanzarote with relatively soft light, but most of the light is from a blue sky, which is the opposing color to the model's skin tones. Adding to that misery, the rear wall was much lighter than the model, creating some flare and taking away more contrast.
And consequently, I had a tough time ...
