Church Light BTS movie

Here you can easily see the challenges with the light shooting this setup.

Church light

A few more images with Carillon doll from the abandoned church in Milan.
The light here was direct sunlight streaming through a window and hitting this small alcove. Or rather, as you can see in the BTS video, these were shot AFTER the sun had passed and before it became completely dark.

If you are on the Photographers Tier, check out the BTS movie to see how the light (really) was.

Posh light BTS

A btw movie with the fantastic Minka Model

Posh light

I finally had an opportunity to shoot with Minka Model last month, and all I can say is WOW. We were a near-perfect fit and created some stunning imagery.

I had just wallpapered my lounge area and bought some vintage props (like this €15 candlestick from FB Marketplace). So we had to shoot something with that.

The rest of the light is available light from a window but diffused a bit with some lee opal filter in front of the windows.

Walled garden

Rebecca Perry and I snuck into the garden of this little finca a couple of years ago while in Mallorca.

All natural light in the shade gives some beautiful light.

I seldom use reflectors or light when shooting outdoors; I use the environment to shape the light.

Loulou

This is Loulou on one of the same structures as yesterday’s post.

Can you tell from this image that Loulou does Yoga?

The Fortification

I shot with Gitte (G.Rasmussen_model) a few times 6-7 years ago before she slipped into the corporate world of TV production.
But about a month ago, she left all that behind and started to model again, and I’m happy to say I got another opportunity to shoot with her.

This is shot against one of the old F16 fighter Jet hangars on the former airbase next to my studio.

Do you like urban environments for nudes like this, or do you have a more puritanical "Nude-in-nature-only" st...

Loulou on the Beach

This is Loulou Models shot around my Mallorca workshop this summer.

She brought the necklace to have some images for a friend who makes them, so this is me making necklace promotion images for Instagram 😇.

We did shoot some less nude images, too, of course.

Direct sun, oil on the body, and roll in the sand.

I’m a sucker for the texture!

General rehearsal

Before going to Lanzarote and shooting my Art Nude on Location course, I needed a general rehearsal to determine if my equipment worked as it should (it didn’t).

And I had Ivalu help me with testing.
I had to figure out how to sync video when audio couldn’t pick up the same sound, which camera profile to use in hard sunlight, and ...

Dovile's Ottoman

This is Dovile and a set on my studio, Ottoman, used in various ways. It’s lit with a 57” Westcott Zeppelin with a soft grid.

Do check out the Discord Bonus material!

And the Behind the Scenes movie.
The movie perfectly shows how something you want to try but can't do can lead to something much better than the original idea.

Ashley in Sun

A couple more shots with the fantastic Ashleigh Rae.

It may be her first time shooting nudes, but as you can see, she is no stranger to projecting and posing—sunlight in the abandoned control tower close to my studio.

Krisowitz on gold

I recently had the pleasure of shooting with Krisowitz, another Danish model I’ve never previously shot with.

We’ve tried to arrange a shoot for some time, but life kept getting in the way.
We finally managed to get it to work.

As you can see, Krisowitz is not shy in any shape, matter or form, leaving many avenues open - and many more images to come with her.

These were lit with a 57” Zeppelin, and the background is wallpaper with gold sprinkled over a black ...

Criss-Cross

These are from my first shoot with Wiana Model, shortly after I acquired a Westcott focusable spotlight with various gobos.

This was one of my first attempts working with it.
And frankly, I couldn’t have asked for a better model, could I?

Now, the downside to this accessory (that nobody tells you): It needs a relatively long lens (110mm from memory, which means the lamp for a full figure is about 10m away from the model. The spot can only take lamps with about 5-600ws,...

Katya Clover in Sweden

A nice little Flashback to a trip with Katya Clover to Sweden.

It’s an open shadow, so the entire sky from one side works like a massive softbox.

She is an excellent model, by the way. It is super sweet and easy to work with.
As long as it’s not cold.

Loulou models is the boss

Louise projecting Summer and Boss Lady on the Watch Tower (Torre Volger on Mallorca).

Straight sun early morning, shot with a 16-24mm.

Slight cheat: I moved and elongated the contrail from where I had originally framed closer to her face. I love the contrail, just not exactly where it was.

Sacrificial Lamb?

This is from my Mallorca summer workshop with Wianamodel, and The Endless Sinner and Loulou models. We were working in a derelict church ruin.

One of the models had found a large slab of bricks and wanted to make a sacrificial scene. It didn’t work with the light, but then I found this low wall with a view, and I set up a scene, and the models played along.

To me, these are erotic. It’s not that they are that explicit, but they seem to create a story and some great expressions...

Real life Jenga

Dixie and I tried to play full-size jenga.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t move any of the blocks, and since she was starting, we had to call it a draw ;)

So we just took pictures instead.

These are leftovers from a decommissioned ferry harbor with train tracks.

Decommissioned as they built a bridge instead of the ferry.

It's a great photo location, though.

Herodiade in the sun

Another “straight sun” on the fantastic Herodiade.

One thing to take away from this image is how effective shadows can be in creating an environment of what is essentially a white wall. It’s something that I actively seek out when I shoot: Can I find a way where shadows can play an active role in creating an image? If so, it will likely become more unique as nobody else can recreate it unless they are in the same place at the same time of day in the same weather - with the same mo...

Mini Moria

Belzen model, the Danish model whose rear-end I introduced you to at the beginning of the month, from a small cave in Sweden.
All natural light comes in directly behind the camera.

Hit the “Belzen” tag below to see the other image of her - again.

It actually began to rain while we shot this set, but luckily, there was no wind, and it was not that cold.
Still, we had to shelter for 10-15 minutes to avoid getting completely wet.

Unbearable lightness

The fantastic Dulce Mara in my studio Backyard. It’s really full sun, but the walkway in this particular place is shaded by leaves on the trees, so I’m left with the beautiful soft light from the sky.

Tan Shadows

A walk on the dark side with Wiana Model from shooting Art nude on Location. I still have so much stuff to show from our six days creating all the instruction videos.

These are shot near midday (you can tell by the shadows). But when you have places with shadows, you can turn a disadvantage into uniqueness.

I love black and white, a...

Dark Abstractions

The Gorgeous Nausicaa Yami frolicking in black sand on a beach.

This is all figure work: creating shapes.

I’ve noticed a tendency in many similar images:
You have a model that makes (beautiful) shapes, but the model is disconnected from the environment.

There is no connection between the model and the surroundings. This is a typical issue for photographers shooting nudes on location if they have not carefully thought about what makes an image good (hint boobs are gener...

Water is life

The Endless Sinner in Mallorca. She has such a stunning fashion model look in these.

It’s a plain sun shot at 1/4000 sec ƒ 3.2 with a 24-70mm zoom. Except for the nipples, these could easily be in a fashion magazine.

Cat People

I published some images of Madam Sophie last month, and like those, especially the sitting image, it is also unconventional and deviates a bit from my regular work.

See, the challenge is when you have constraints like massive tattoos, my usual way of approaching a body somewhat goes down the drain, and I have to invent workarounds, like extreme low angle and super wide angle.

This was shot at 26mm at 1/20 sec ƒ 4.5 (resting the camera on the floor). Both are shot in almost the sa...

Ashleigh Rae

I always love to be the first ever to shoot nudes of a model, and this is one of those rare occasions.
The circumstances were not normal, however:
Ashleigh Rae is a full-time commercial model and doesn’t shoot nudes because of her commercial modeling job where corporate clients would not hire her if nudes were floating around.

So obviously, she placed a lot of trust in my hands shooting this (and many more to come). So yes, these are implied (with booty), but there are so...

Exposition

As I’ve explained before, I love to shoot erotic images if and when the model likes to do so. Luckily, Wiana Model is one of the models usually keen when we work together, and this set is no excuse. Unfortunately, These have to be censored to comply with Patreon Guidelines.

But do check out Discord for some bonus material (Photographers and Vault tiers only).

These are lit with a 57” zeppeliner - more details in the Multicam BTS video from the shoot.

The Asylum

This is a little “catch-up” series with Carillon Doll shot at an abandoned church in Milan.

It’s all-natural light.

I loved working with her, but I will never recommend her to anyone:

After this, we set up another shoot in Copenhagen, but she canceled a week before (allegedly) due to COVID-19.

Then we rearranged a trip to Lanzarote with a workshop and 1:1 shooting afterward.

Two weeks before, she informed me she had booked some other days than arran...
