Miss Birdette

I was doing a workshop with Nausicaa Yami, and she has this gorgeous set of Honey Birdette lingerie. I don’t usually shoot lingerie, as it feels too much like my old advertising days when I shot lingerie catalogs. But in this case, I had to make an exception.

And a couple of videos.

Nothing I could do naked in the same setting would be any more sexy than with this set on.

If you want to see sexy, I must admit I couldn't restrain myself: I had to do video in Slo-motion.

Dixie's Rope

Unlike yesterday's post, I find THIS with Dixie model erotic, at least the two images with the rope. Because here I’m playing on submission, which has a sexual connotation.

The lighting here is a 57” Zeppelin with a diffuser and a soft grid to limit the light and keep it away from the background.

Durga

To me, there is an almost Indian feel to this image. Perhaps it’s the arms or the general shape, but she feels like a goddess. Maybe a goddess of fertility?

Touching on sexuality again, I don’t think this is sexual or erotic.

It’s explicit, but is a vulva inherently sexual?

And looking at the image, your eyes are not led to the vulva but somewhat away and toward the face. Mine is, anyway.

The model is Pretzelle.

Turkish bath

This ancient Turkish Bath in Mallorca is a museum of sorts.

When we arrived by the opening hour, 30 people were queued to enter. We needed the place for ourselves (at least 30-40 seconds at a time, and since I brought three models, I had two lookouts.

And let me put it this way: When paying the admission, I asked if I could photograph there, and they said yes. I was perhaps not very specific, however ;) But from my point of view, I had asked and was granted permission, so the wors...

Las Grietas Crawl

This is an extra sequence from my Art Nude On Location - Mastering Natural Light with Wianamodel. I excluded this from the movie as it was too explicit for the educational content. I didn’t want to skew the video in a (too sexual direction.

But as photos, and excluded from the package, I love these.

Double right

AN old image with Faith Starr.

I love photographing models with expressive hands, and Faith has that in spades, and she is such a good mover.

She stopped nude modeling not long after we shot these - for family reasons; I hope she starts again at some point.

The endless Siren

The Endless Sinner (of course) posing as a siren on the edge of a rock (waiting to lure some ships in. It didn't work, however.

No, seriously, shooting something like this where the model is posing on a ledge with a 40m/125’ drop, you had better be sure the model has a good balance, is capable, and knows what she is doing.

The main problem here was light: It works for the body but not well for the face. I do like the background, however.

But I’ll give (almost) everything...

Dovile at the bunker

BTS of shooting Dovile at the bunker.

This BTS says a lot about her personality doesn't it?

Dovile at the bunker

I’ve wanted to shoot with Dovile for some time, but we never aligned the calendars.

I find Dovile intriguing: Unlike most other models I’ve shot from a facial point of view, she has a unique personality that took me a long time to figure out.

Frankly, I don’t think I got many perfect images (defined as images that show her personality as I perceive it). Somehow, most of the environments I tried out didn’t work out; they didn’t align with her. So I guess I’ll have to sh...

Depani on the runway

Few of my models can resist a naked scooter-run on the old airfield, never mind the occasional cyclist or runner.

Depani in the control tower

Depani Malika lives about 1500km/1000 miles from me, so when she said she’d be in Copenhagen, I jumped at the chance to shoot. This set's light is pure window light, and a black flag is on the right side to keep the light directional.

She’s a total sweetheart, by the way.

Steel door sculpture

Dulce Mara contacted me and offered to shoot, but she said it had to be within the next four days as she was leaving for Iceland.

We made a 2-hour session midday in overcast weather; this is the first of the images. Lighting is a silver reflector directing light into a corner of a tunnel.
It's hard to explain, but by placing her in a tunnel, I could get some direction to the light by using the silver reflector because of the size of the silver reflector (1x2m or 3x6’ approx. The l...

The magic bus

Sometime during Covid, I shot Poppyseed in Sweden.

It’s all-natural light on an old car cemetery called Kyrkö Mosse.

Sweden was one of the few countries that, during COVID-19, didn’t close down society but instead tried to isolate the weaker in culture. You can find countless reports on the effect of community, but my overall impression is that the long-term effect is a tie, but the mental impact on society was much lower in Sweden.

Is assumption the mother of all fuck-ups?

Here’s an old image with Rebecca Perry shot using daylight from a window.

When I first shot this, I was hell-bent on not sexualizing women, so I created a fake bush to make it more “palatable.“ I now think I had a misplaced intent of protecting models/women who are perfectly capable of defending themselves.

If they have a problem as models with people seeing their labia, they would probably not be clean-shaven at a photo shoot.

I just made another version of the ...

Madam Sophie premiere

I shot Madam Sophie in July when she passed through Denmark. I knew she had abundant tattoos and was bald, but I wasn’t sure what to do with that.

The challenge with tattoos is either you have to be able to see a substantial part of them if they are prominent, or try to hide them as they will take too much attention,

It was the hiding strategy in the first image, but the picture didn’t work once I started editing it. Looking at her head, I realized it would be perfect for a Ha...

Self indulgence

Wiana Model from one of the sets we did on Lanzarote that were never meant to make it on the Art Nude on Location course.

What are your thoughts about the image?

Sigrige going native

This is Sigrige. I booked her and two other models for a workshop eight years ago. After the workshop, we worked out way back to Copenhagen over three days and shot many places on the way back. All are shot using only available light.

Rubia mood

Some time ago, I had access to this excellent daylight studio atop the building where I rented my office. And one day, Rubia Siri dropped by, and we shot these (and many others.)

Light is sunlight streaming through the large studio windows.

Which of these is your favorite and why?

I’m a sucker for the second, mainly because of the body chain between her buttocks.

September on Patreon

Hello hello, Thomas Holm here with a quick overview of what’s in store on my Patreon for September.

I'll kick off the month with Madam Sophie, Rebecca Perry, Poppyseed, Dulce Mara, Depani Malika, Dovile, and the endless Sinner models spanning six countries.

Then we go dark with Faith Starr, Wiana Model, Endless Sinner in a Turkish bath, Pretzelle doing her Indian goddess personification, Dixie model in ropes, and Nausicaa Yami in a sexy A.F. set from Lanzarote (image ...

The seven year lakes

I was visiting a customer in the western parts of Jutland and picked up Sabrina, and we drove to a nearby place and shot these sets.

All of these were shot with my old Sony NEX-7 APS-C (crop sensor.)

The last three were shot with my first vintage Lens, A Jena Biogon. I still love this lens's look (and bokeh), even though I don’t use it anymore.

Wall Bronzing

A year before Corona, I had one of the more frustrating trips I ever had traveling around with a model:

Sylph Sia was in Denmark, and we had arranged to shoot for 3-4 days. I picked her up after a shoot near Copenhagen and drove for 5 hours to get to Bulbjerg, where we shot this set during sunset. No complaints there.

But the following days were the most frustrating weather with super high winds AND fog, making it very hard to shoot anything meaningful over the following days.

Playboy in Riga

I shot this old set in Riga in 2015 with a former Playboy model who no longer models, so I’ll let her remain anonymous.

I usually have a rule that says I want the light to come from ONE direction. The exception is if you can see where the light is coming from, as here, sitting in an alcove with the light on three sides. It works fine here, but I would never do something like this in a studio.

A day at the beach

The day before this summer's workshop in Mallorca started Modeling with Louise, The Endless Sinner, and Wiana Model, and I went to a nude beach and just fooled around. I shot all these with a Lomo Petzval 56mm ƒ2.8. The lens has a manual focus knot on the side and is super hard to work, but I love the results.

These are all unedited - it’s just the girls and myself naked on a nude beach having fun.
