This is the "fun" part.
Thousands of layers of white until it's actually opaque. This part takes forever, because I have to wait between to let the layers dry and it really takes 5 or 6 layers to build it up nicely. (So not thousands but you get what I mean).
The photo is cleaning it up a bit,but in person you can definitely see orange thru all the white at this stage ❤️

Here's a fresh page of neon orange Eddys.
I do the inks free-hand with a huge brush tip marker, then go over the parts I'me going to do in color with acrylic (or metal leaf!)
Then go back over the whole thing and re-ink where necessary.
It's tricky! But fun :3

When I was working on a Fistful of Ed, I was obsessed with getting the acting to feel "right".
How do I retain Double Dee's personality while seeing him seemingly "explode".
For this scene, I wanted Double Dee to feel angry and betrayed but still controlled. Here his pointing is pretty restrained from the get-go.

Here's a page of Sadie Expressions and a Concept for how she evolves thru the episode.
No marker was used in the making of this drawing it's all cross hatching.
Originally, Sadie was going to become a Crystal Gem, trained by Amethyst. Greg would be trained by Garnet and Connie would be trained by Pearl. It was, at the time, significant that Sadie poofed a gem by herself.

Here's another alternative page from "An Indirect Kiss".
It's from the first version where I drew Amethyst broken apart with her limbs completely detached.
Rebecca was deeply disturbed by this , so we put yards of connective coiled flesh between the limbs instead.

I redesigned my Lapis & Peridot Bracelet. Rethinking it, I didn't want to confuse people by bringing up a fusion that never made it to air.
This version features little lapis stones interspersed w/peridot stones. Separate but Together.

These are some of my thumbnail storyboards for the Steven Universe episode The Return.
I still remember the intensity of writing this episode. I put myself fully in the "human" frame of mind, seeing and hearing all of this for the first time. Knowing what it meant to the gems, they really expected to die defending Steven and The Earth. I love working with high stakes like this, where it feels like all hell is breaking loose.

I had some larger stickersbmade from last month's design.
They glow in the dark & measure 2.5" x 4"
I've mounted this one onto a backing board I painted. I thought it might be a cute way to sell larger stickers as gifts.
The sticker itself is still useable (it's only lightly mounted with magic tape) and I plan to hide little things painted underneath for when it is removed

Here are the digital thumbnails I pitched while we were working on The Return for Steven Universe.
Doom and loss in the air. Being a fan of horror, I love these kinds of scenes and strived to make it as moody as possible.
The green color in the air throughout this episode was inspired by my experience being in Wisconsin during a tornado warning. I was telling the crew and Rebecca that the sky turned neon lime green and it was absolutely horrifying ha ha ha
