I Want to hear YOUR Swapstick Together Suggestions!

April Fools is upon us, and as such, i wanna get some feedback/opinions on what would YOU like to see out of Swapstick Together for this year (potentially)

Anything that springs to mind! All ideas/suggestions are welcome!
Doesn't have to be anything overly specific, just a general topic or situation you'd be interested in seeing how the GANG would react in their Toony ways, OR maybe how a HUMAN Leo would interact/react to something...

Old Timers

Art's been a little slow lately, folks. I've been trying to focus on cleaning up my comic pages, but my progress on that has also come to a stop since i learned i was coloring them with RGB when printers use CMYK. I'm not sure how i'm going to deal with that, but in the meantime, i've just been doing some concept art stuff, as i often do when i'm a bit lost, art wise.

This is a fun page! not too crowded, plenty of fun poses and goofy faces. plus the Leo Skink! He looks so sleazy! You better believe it too me forever to get the design looking right. not to mention the patterns and what not? phew.

Personally, it's really fun to see them fluctuate between all these emotions in such a short span of time. they're both so scatter-brained after the kiss...

a natural concern that, maybe things are moving a little too fast. the thing about feelings is that, they don't wait for you to be ready for them! they strike when they please, and you just have to accommodate for them! the bastards...

ahem. but yes, the dialogue in this has gone through a little bit of an overhaul between the sketch and the final, which i feel better fits the tone i'm going for!

i decided to write off the original gag in that second-to-last panel, as it was an homage to the original comic, where Leo said that exact line (the one in the sketch page). i've tried to sprinkle in little call backs to the original comic here and there, but i think, ultimately, we can do without this one. it just felt a little too out of left field for me, and it "soured" the moment a bit t...

i've commented on it before, but i always felt that one panel just wasn't enough to really let the weight of a first kiss impact the reader. Sure, the previous page was a big flashy full page of glorious kissing, but, i think this additional page of, the slow transition between the complex emotions that flow through them as it happens, helps to show just how much one can feel in such a short, special moment!

Mini Comic - Flowers

A two parter! haven't had one of those since Christmas 2023!

i'm gonna level with you, gang. This month's been pretty rough on me, on the emotional side. i won't bore you with the details, but work has been pretty slow because of it. i'm still chugging away at stuff, it's just taking me a bit longer than i'd like.

still, i managed to get this Valentine's Day comic out a week in advance, and that's a small victory in my book!

Stevie's Late Night Stream

Trying out something a little different!

Something a little spicier to end off the first month of the new year! the backgrounds do feel a little emptier for a fuller piece like this, so i may tweak them in the future, as i so often do, but for now, enjoy a peek at Stevie's peep show

Getting that blacklight effect was also quite the fun experience, i hadn't really experimented with it before. It turned out relatively well, though again, i think there's much to be learned still.

Leo Mimicry Concept

I've had this gag idea for a little while now, where Leo is telling a story about something that had happened the other day, and as he's telling it, he'd morph into the shape of whoever was talking and even do his best impression of them.
i thought that was a cute little concept!

Do not readjust your set! As mentioned in the previous page, i split this sketch page into TWO pages, in order to give the Leo fumbling joke a bit more room to read, plus, to add more build up!

and honestly, i'm SO excited! i'm gonna do my best to remember to actually timelapse the following page, as it's going to be one big panel of their very first kiss, and that's a very crucial moment that i feel should add a little extra fanfare!

Something to note here, i've split this original sketch page into two pages! if you compare the finished product with the sketch, you'll see the top half matches, but that last panel is brand new.

I wanted to better flesh out Leo's stuttering and stumbling of his words for the kissing build up, as it all felt a bit cramped in just one page. i think this'll flow a little better and give the joke a little more room to breat...

Mini Comic - Year of the Snake

Wanted to stray away from the usual gag of "Chinese New Year Mini Comic where the joke is that Leo is now the animal" i decided to take this in a different direction!

Part of me wanted to have Magna wake up, ASSUME the snake in bed with her was Leo, only to reveal Indy Leo on the OTHER side of the bed with her, but i couldn't quite fit it narratively into the four panel format, so we ended up with this instead!

I'll take any and all opportunities to dress Leo up as an iconic chara...

Mini Comic - Well Scored Soundtrack

the first Mini Comic of the year! and of course, it's a Christmas themed one~

the holiday season is quite busy, so it's hard for me to get these out during the ACTUAL holiday season! but now that things have calmed down a bit, i finally managed to clean this one up!

just a little fun concept doodle to kick start the year!

Always fun to do a little character redesign exercise, and lemme tell ya, this was a doozey! some came a little easier than others, but someone like Jerry was REAL tough to get right, since Jenny has such a... jank to her aura, that i find really hard for me to replicate in any other form that isn't Jenny, but i think i did ok with him!

Magna, at heart, has always been the flirty one. Sure, Leo loves a big grandiose gesture where he professes his eternal love for his darling, but Magna's a little more to the point. she knows what she wants, and seeing that Leo likes a bit of teasing, she's happy to set off his tea kettle~

it's also good to shut down Leo whenever he gets a little TOO cocky for his britches. he DID say she could ask him anything~

Mini Comic - Twinsies

imagine being ass-out in this cold. brrrr! gives me the willies just thinkin' about it!

i love the thought of Max just taking off running as soon a the alarm goes off. Giving Stevie quite the ride while he's at it. i'm sure he wouldn't mind~

Slapstick Together Chapter 1 REBOOT (46/47)

and there we have it! it took a while, but with these last two pages, we're done with another chapter!

We're (give or take) half way through this comic! (not accounting the few extra pages i have to go back and re-draw in the new format and what not) and i'm still excited as i before to be working on it! That's certainly a good sign!

Ok. THAT took a while.

But we're so BACK, gang!

After taking a LONG break from page clean up, we're back on the saddle! Though let me give you a quick update on what happened!

The computer troubles i had that caused this break have, thankfully, mostly been resolved! The bad news is, i never did get my files back from my SSD, and although the majority of my work was saved, i did lose all of the raw files for the Judy's bar portion of the comic.

Mini Comic Halloween Parody - The Thing

i'm not really a horror guy, but every once in a while i get in the mood to watch a spooky movie or two. and as luck would have it, this year, i got my John Carpenter's The Thing brain worm actin' up again, just in time for Halloween too!
