Just a little heads-up regarding the Comic Clean-up!

I'm pausing the clean up process for the Slapstick Together Reboot Comic pages for a couple days! Here's why:

a few days back i e-mailed the company that (for the time being) will be handling the printing process of the comic once i'm done cleaning it up, because i had some concerns regarding whether or not my pages were too small, among other concerns.

They got back to me the other day, and agreed to take in some of the currently finished pages to go through them and see if eve...

Phew! that took a while!
it always takes a while to get the feel and palette of a new scene like this right, but i'm quite happy with it! i used the same tones from the original comic and played around with them a bit, since i really like those sorta soft browns to show the outside of Magna's apartment!

and Leo's car! oh my goodness, Leo's car. the DEBUT of the Leomobile! had to find some nice colors for it too! i wanted it to stand out a bit, without making it look like too much o...

Mini Comic - Cartoon Car Tunes

it's always the more mediocre jokes that take the longest to draw!
seriously, this took me all week to draw, and i worked on it pretty actively! but because there's so much change from panel to panel, it really put my wrist to work!

and don't get me wrong, this was a blast to draw! but the whole joke isn't anything all THAT hilarious, personally. i do enjoy having the girls interacting with Leo's cartooniness, and when i realized i could call it "Cartoon Car Tunes" i just HAD to wor...

i really thought the pages with the no shading and no background would be easier to make, but BOY was i wrong! Having to draw in a smaller canvas than the one i originally sketched in has proven to give me some trouble when it comes to smaller panels (like the last one), but i'm gonna truck on through to try and make the best of it!

not wanting to keep these TOO simple, i did my best to still convey a bit of depth to Leo's void with some gradients. i think it turned out alright!

Sorry this one took a bit longer! To be completely honest with y'all, despite enjoying Valentine's Day, is DOES kinda kick my ass emotionally, so even though i've still been drawing all week, it's taken me a lot longer to actually finish things up, but i'm gettin' back on my feet, don't you worry!

Mini Comic - Down to clown

a bit of a spicier Valentine's Day comic, but hey, gotta mix it up a bit!

i tried my absolute best to give Magna a believable, cheap and hastily thrown together, yet still cute and sexy clown costume, and i think i did pretty well!

Standard page cleaning for this one!

Some dialogue tweaks, cut off the repeating "a date?" gag and went with something a little nicer, in my opinion! Leo's flattered that Magna would be so willing to go on a date with him, despite him being a toon. he's head over heels!

decided not to show Magna's phone number this time around. in the original comic, i gave her the same number that Jennifer gives Marty in Back to the Future, as a little Easter Egg! turns out, that wasn't even HE...

So! as it turns out, i made this looping animation WAY too long and high def, so i couldn't turn it fully into a GIF for use on my social media. which, quite honestly, kinda sucks, cuz i put a fair bit of work into this

Promo Progress (Final Bits (Hopefully))

i'm SO close to being done with this silly little promo, but i wanted to have these little "loop breaker" bits in between the main loop to, as the name suggests, break it up a little and keep it interesting for anyone who sticks around and stares at it for long enough!

i SHOULD have it done by this week if all goes to plan. so hopefully i can share the full thing with you guys very soon!

Here's a fun little concept i tinkered with the other day!

When developing the extended friend groups, i always imagined the girls being
Magna's friends from back in their schooldays.
and as i watched The Simpsons, Season 13 Episode 5, "The Blunder Years", i got the urge to design the younger versions of our dorky group! Just for fun!

I imagine we'll be seeing some more of young Magna once Leo comes to meet her parents (through old photo albums and what not) but maybe lat...

pretty much stuck to the script while cleaning this page up, aside from a few dialogue touch ups!

still absolute LOVE the "filling up your crash landing hole" gag panel, hehehe

BUT, i did add (in the second panel) a little bit of the pick-up line card peeking into the frame to somewhat sneakily imply Magna was trying to use a pick up line on him!

if you've read the sketch pages (spoilers) she brings it up towards the end of the comic!

there's meant to be a Chapter separation piece that goes between this page and the previous one, but i'm gonna save those for later since i'm planning on making them more refined pieces!

so! aside from a bit of dialogue tweaking, the main "difference" i guess would be that big panel being all, artsy wishy wooshy with the colori...

i'd love to keep that tradition of doing a "Leo turns into every Chinese New Year animal" comic
it'll be a challenge to come up with an original joke for each, but dang it, i'm gonna try it!

either way, this is still a big of a riff on my Year of the Rabbit mini comic. similar premise at least! Magna in bed, finds out it's the New Years, and Leo comically shows up as that animal

i'll likely change the formula as the years progress, but, for this one, i wanted to keep it SORTA...

Possibly my most "cold opening" comic to date! i can just HEAR the Slapstick Together theme song (whatever that may be) begin to play as soon as the comic ends, to start a fresh new episode, that has little to do with this gag

i had one too many trips to the dentist this year to NOT make a comic about it, and this joke was wafting around in my head for a few months, so i'm glad to have it down on paper! even if it is a bit more outlandish than my usual stuff. gotta stretch those artist...

not too much too say about this one, originally i was going to have that middle panel be a bit more open concept, but it felt unnecessarily fancy, so i just turned it into a normal panel.

i did change the dialogue around a bit though! i figured i'd have Magna remark about the giant Leo-shaped hole that our toon boy left behind, since it made sense for her to point it out, and at the same time, i get to drip feed some toon lore to the reader! any phys...
