I had the concept in mind for this image of Willow months ago but I kept -urging off actually doing it because I knew it would be a little challenging with the two versions of the arms and getting the lighting right. Overall, I’d say Mission Accomplished; I have one more Naughty Pixie I’d like to do a pinup of before I start really playing around with comic ideas. Stick around!

Here’s just about what the first stage or so of my page set-up looks like: layouts set, my color palette ready, my thumbnail minimized so I can reference my initial art set-up (along with the script, notated separately). All done with these pages! Here’s a little showcase of how I’m shading this shot. I wanted to do my primary shading the way I usually do, darkening folds and creases and muscle tone and so on. Then, in order to really drive home the effect of seeing a floor-facing body from below, I did a second shading layer by copy and pasting the flats for this shot, alpha locking and darkening the entire figure, and then setting the layer to multiply and reducing it down. Took me a minute to get back here, but production is moving again! There were some definite anatomy challenges, especially on page six with that panel 3 doggy-style shot of Catwoman. I think the post title says it all!if you pay attention, you can see I’ve been working on my rendering of body fluids and there’s a definite progression just from page 3 to page 4 alone. First page is done, hard at work on the next! I’m trying a new process of not-inking to save some time and see if it helps overall texture and quality. I knocked out all the storyboard thumbnails for this short comic today so I’m going to be working on this in tandem with knocking out FIRST LESSON pages (call it another challenge to my skills 😎).
