Meeting a Living, Successful Artist

The Tom Sachs Experience. I'd mentioned before that I had the opportunity to have a book signed by one of my favorite living artists. Here, a little more about that. If you've never seen his work, I highly recommend checking it out!

In the cold November rain

I got a final coat of green on my wood mountain. I left it drying outside, where I’d painted it.

I didn’t give it another thought until the following morning as I sipped some coffee and planned my next steps for this project. That’s when I realized I’d left it outside all night. In cold, heavy rains.

It’s been two days of careful drying in the hopes that it would not warp. Scraping and sanding away the paint that had bubbled, and finally re painting. Just to get it exa...

Hidden in Plain Sight

On YouTube today, I released a video about an art installation in Times Square. It's in plain sight, but unless you know what to look for, it may be unnoticed. Can you hear it?

Tuesday Update: all about last week

I am thrilled to be able to begin to edit and share all my adventures In New York City! This update is a brief show of some of what I got up to last week. You'll have to forgive my overuse of the word AMAZING! But truly, it was! With renewed energy and inspiration, I'm off and running!

Work in Progress

With renewed inspiration, I'm back to work! I was inspired in so many ways with my recent vacation. But I've got to get some projects off my plate before beginning new ones! Today, I'm working again on a piece that has taken me months to progress. With all the handwritten elements complete (yay!), it's time for a clear coat. While the ink in my pen is semi-permanent, I've found that when it's applied to a wooden surface coated in gesso, it's still prone to some smearing. Wet or oily fingers s...

Looking at the city

I'm still thinking about all of the wonderful things that I saw on my recent trip. The things that I saw will inspire me for some time to come. Here are some photos of just a few of the interesting places that I went.

Walking in New York: 46th Street

A walk through the city streets. The accompanying music lends to a dreamy feeling. It did feel a bit like a dream.  The sights and smells and feeling of a place that never sleeps.

A Journey Unfolds: New York City

Yup. That's Times Square! Thanks for your patience while I've been away from my computer.

I spent  a few days in the Big Apple. Experiencing and seeing all that I could in a short time. I went to the Met, Central Park, and so many places. The sights, smells and sounds are still fresh in my mind. I ate bagels and pizza and sat in cafes that felt like they were from bygone eras. I'm inspired by all the art I saw, the buildings, the bustling nature of the city, and so much more....

The Phone Call

An older piece, that I really like! There are so many new supporters here, so I really don't want anyone to miss some of the things I've created that I'm proud of!

This piece reflects moments of dread in life. The phone call of the bad news, for example. It's no accident that I'm perusing the pages of a meditation magazine. There are tools available that help alleviate the anxiety brought on by life, but it's hard to focus under stress.

I hope you enjoy this visual narrativ...

Arm Day

So many things that I want to address with this video! So much of what you see here is experimental, and expands my horizons as an artist.

I think it's interesting/ funny/ironic that physical fitness has become a series of things we do. Reps of a given motion that increase or maximize an aesthetic. To think that not long ago, human kind looked a certain way out of necessity of survival....

Additionally, this is an experiment in perspective. The fisheye lens is capable of enc...

Tuesday Update: Creative Problems

Necessity is the mother of innovation. I was thinking of that saying today as I came up against a unique problem. A problem specific to my process of creation.

As you know, I've been working on a piece of art that is largely based on the process of writing words. I've been writing with my fountain pen, a little at a time. As I near the end of the writing aspect of this conceptual piece, I was unprepared for a problem that arose. I think I've come up with a creative solution!

I'll ...

Throwback Thursday

Going through old files, and came across this fun freedom walk from the last election year! I thought that after this past Tuesday, I was done voting this year. As it turns out, I'll be voting again in December due to a race in my state being too close to call.

I hope you enjoy this throwback!

ATL

Join me for a walk in downtown Atlanta! This is Broad Street. If you're a fan of Marvel entertainment, you may remember it as Tokyo Street from Avengers: End Game or from an episode of Ms. Marvel where it serves as the Farmers' Market. (Among other movies). I was inspired by the "Run Devil Run" sign just as much as Paul McCartney was for his 1999 album (and cover art) of the same name!

In addition to the sights, I hope you enjoy my original musical composition!
