It's Friday the 13th! What better way to commemorate the day but with a walk through Camp Crystal Lake? This filming location was used for "Jason Lives!" Part 6 in the Friday the 13th series. Originally posted back in February!

If there had been a psycho-killer lurking about, I would have been in trouble! It seems that the secret formula for certain doom in 80s horror always starts with boobs!

Stranger Things...For Lunch!

It's no secret that I love the 80s, so it seems a natural conclusion that I enjoy Stranger Things a series set in the 1980s. I went out and did some filming today at a location that you may recognize if you're a fan of the show! More to come about that soon!

Steamy Shower Scene

Forever in pursuit of interesting angles and locations for filming, I tried something a little steamy! I have a ridiculous lighted "disco" shower head, the steam aspect was not anticipated. Although, looking back on it, I should have known!

I began a painting in gouache today! It’s for another NFT project, and a good cause! Ok Not To Be Ok is a woman-led NFT collection normalizing vulnerability and creating a community of right-minded women who take time for their mental health, before getting ready to take on the world again. I Built a Bike!

With summer quickly approaching, it's time to get outdoors! More physical activity and new adventures are a must. Join me as I assemble my new fixie bike, then take it for its first ride down beautiful trails!

I've never built a bicycle before. But I've ridden them often! As a kid, I was on my bike constantly! It was pale blue with a white banana seat. I think it originally had tassels on the handles, but they didn't last long. I customized it with stickers of rainbows and swans. I had ...

Or, rather: completed! Pink polka dots on a metallic turquoise "M".  After removing the tape to reveal the black underpainting, I attached the t.v. letters with screws. It's now hanging on the wall!

Summer weather brings the original Malibu Strings!

I continue working on the letters for the logo! This process entailed a primary coat of flat black paint, then taping off the edges with painter’s tape, a coat of white gesso, a custom mixed yellow in acrylic, then a spray clear coat! I’ve peeled back a bit of the tape to reveal a clean black edge.

Alley Walk

Scenes of the cityscape interspersed with a walk down a quiet alley! It's both relaxing and reminiscent: like memory replaying both backwards and forward.

It's that amazing time of year when I ring in summer with the didgeridoo!

The NASA sign is complete! I hung it on the wall to provide an idea of the size. It’s 14.5” by 43”.

This project allowed me to challenge myself in new ways. While painting the world as I see it is my usual creative outlet, this tapped into other skills for creative expression! Cutting the letters out of plywood was challenging and satisfying! It feels good to use a jigsaw and get satisfactory results. I didn’t use my usual acrylics for the colors. My NASA letters have been cut out of half inch plywood (the same wood I salvaged for the Adidas project). They’re approximately 11” tall. After a bit of sanding and refining, I painted them bright red! They will be mounted to another piece of plywood, on a different day!

After having the satisfaction of finishing the sweatshirt project, I've begun the next one! I'm loving the NASA font, and in keeping with the recent exploration of pop art, I'm off and running with another logo!

Red Curtain Shoot: How I take photos of myself

Apps that make life easier! But there was a bit of a learning curve in getting all the components in communication via Bluetooth!  No more running into a pose while my camera counts down on a timer! Taking photos of my self, by my self. Here's how I did it.

Red Curtain Photo Shoot

My hair is the longest it's ever been!  I've been meaning to do a photo shoot highlighting that for a while now. This shoot will provide photos for inspiration and reference of future projects! These images are, at present, completely unaltered and unedited. I may alter them digitally, and/or use them as references for paintings! I included a photo with my phone to illustrate the use of an app that allows me to take the photos remotely!

This piece is complete, including the final touch: a hanging wire on the back! “ Dada Is…”!

Slow Going!

With newly found materials and a vision, I begin hand cutting pieces of plywood! Building materials and art supplies are generally pretty expensive, but when I find a pile of plywood (illegally dumped), I feel good about salvaging and repurposing. The process is "slow going" using a hand saw, but I can make art out of the trash!
