This is a pretty fun commission series, since it's such a unique challenge compared to what I usually draw. It's probably no surprise that I'm a Transformers fan, and the designs of these characters are a really good blend of classic transformers design and softer, more humanoid features. One of the more difficult parts of writing this story, which is supposed to be set in the 1920's, is trying to match the slang of the era without it just feeling goofy. The dialogue in this is definitely more "modern" overall, since that just reads better, but I try to at least avoid modern slang.

I'm never sure how much to write on these pages that are focused a lot on the writing and drama. I feel like there's a lot more I could say about them, but also I feel like these pages are more interesting to the reader if I don't just sit here and lay out all my motivations and reasoning.

This cover was a little tricky to settle on... mostly because the suggestion didn't really highlight any specific character. Normally I try to avoid single-panel pages... even when I do pages that are primarily meant to be pinups, I usually include at least a panel or two to show a different angle or to help move the narrative forward. But it's been a rough week, and I think I'm feeling better enough now to get back to my usual work load, but for today at least, I took it a little easy on myself.
