UPDATE 10/11 - Patreon has informed me of a way to identify the capped pledges. There is a piece of text in the pledge manager that has it hidden under a roll over.
Thanks to this, I'm able to identify that out of the 1150 Angelarium members, only 18 of them account for the majority of the problem, so I'm moving this conversation privately to them.

For starters, Please do not cap your monthly pledge. Many of you have made pledges with a monthly cap equal to your individual pledge and that's about to cause a problem.
I scheduled Barbiel, Angel of Scorpio to be be posted on the last hour of the of month, right before the payments for Patreon process. However, it appears something went wrong and no one was charged in September.

Hello darkness my old friend.
When I finally get around to learning how to paint traditionally, I'll learn how to make expressive marks look complete and intentional instead of just muddy and messy. That will mean that around this point, the painting will not only be done, but totally avoid getting over worked.

As this piece comes together, it's starting to become obvious that it's taking a darker tone than the previous Zodiac Angels. There is a part of me that's concerned about how well it will fit with the music that will accompany it, but I think that will probably work out. Starting on each new piece, I have a collection of ideas I want to include. Some of them appeared in earlier, exploratory work and some of them appeared first in the sketch I ultimately choose to work from.

Taking a week away from this piece, I got some fresh perspective on the details. The solar system Zuriel is holding in its hands got bigger in order to overlap parts of the arms in order to create more depth and layering inside the image.

Adding color to this one was real smooth. With the goal of this piece to strongly appeal to my own tastes, since it's sort of a aesthetic self portrait, I just leaned into a lot of color tropes that I'm always afraid of over using. Right now, I love painting gold. Same for bouncing blues against reds. Spending today tightening up all the issues I've been having with this painting has been both difficult and a relief. It reminds me why I sometimes have a hard time getting to work. I gave up on trying to record the complete painting process because I feel like these issues are best resolved when I feel safe and unobserved. I was considering doing something really sparse with the color, but I've enjoyed playing around with more chromatic palettes for this series, so I'm going to keep rolling with that for the time being. I knew early on that I wanted to create a celestial maiden with a twist. In place of giving her wings, I'm playing off the Greek roots by merging the depiction of the virgin goddess Astraea with the lascivious symbol of the swan. Locked together, the two opposites create the form of a classical Angel.
