Hey,

There I am, with the super loud jacket, standing next to my childhood art idol, Brom.

This was taken last weekend in San Antonio at the Alamo City Comicon. It was my last convention appearance of the year and the end of a spectacular, if exhausting run of events. Remiel, Angel of Visions

The shepherd of good graces. A shining light in the distance, calling us
 forwards into the future. The greener pastures beyond the next hill are

Staying with the golden hues from the concept, the obvious path forwards for the color was to play off the gold's compliment with rich blue tones. That manifested in the dark blues throughout the shadows.

The sketch I did for this piece was more detailed than I usually make. With the concept already in place, little needed to get done in the way of finding the imagery I was going to use. Getting to this point in the piece was more a matter of following the imagery that I had in my mind rather finding something on the page. Angelarium at Dragoncon 2016

These last 10 days have been all about Dragoncon. Prep, travel, sales, more travel and then unpacking. Somewhere in the middle, I bought that cool jacket!

Here's a detail crop of where I'm at right now.I've been fiddling with the gesture as well as the colors and textures in the scene. Despite making very few changes to the overall structure, these little tweaks really take up a lot of time and effort for me. Making sure all the subtleties are just where I want them is a large part about what's so enjoyable about painting for me.  Even if spending hours on them earned me no extra money, I would still want to work this way.
