Blue and gold is a classic color scheme, but as I played with it, I found my way into adding purples into the mix as well. Who doesn't love a little splash of purple every once in a while :)

Starting in Photoshop makes making big changes more comfortable, which can be really wonderful but also really difficult to make choices. I'm pushing toward a more colorful piece, but I want to build it up slowly.
Looking back through some of my favorite paintings in my collection, I'm noticing a trend where my best innovations emerge from a process where I am failing to make complete choices early on. Leaving room for inspiration to emerge from under the surface of the work feels a bit scary, but it also feels like the strongest option. Whether or not I like it, I have to trust the process.

This has been an amazingly fun piece to work on. I've been taking it really slow and working in a chat room with some new friends.
Once the colors came together with the hot pink highlights, everything has been fairly easy but it's also been extremely time consuming. I've already put in multiple 8 hour work days on this piece. That's usually more than enough to detail a painting but Samyaza always takes a few extra cycles.

After getting my day filled up with meetings and email, I decided to stick it out and work late last night. Working long days isn't sustainable, but there is something about the way the exhausted mind has an easier time finding that delicate path of least resistance through an idea. It's been nice!
