HYDRA 1.8G PRO (SPECIAL EDITION) - RELEASED!

This release was called “Special Edition” because it received a record number of hours of development and debugging this year.

In addition to the special optimization for Ryzen 7 9800X3D, updated GPU diagnostics and improved "HYBRID OC", I am introducing a revolutionary step in testing the L1-L2-L3-DRAM memory subsystem called "MemBench". For those who haven't heard of it or don't know much about it, it is a test suite to evaluate real DRAM performance, not theoretical with ideal conditions (like AIDA). Membench is not a way to beat the competition, but a way for users to see real performance variation when timings, frequency and other parameters are changed.

What is the advantage of MemBench:

1. Realistic latency estimation (true chaotic access), eliminates hardware prefetchers.
2. Shows the latency since the "cold call", no asembellar optimizations.
3. Absence of complex instructions such as "prefetch" and "streaming store".
4. Sensitivity to cache bandwidth and cache size.
5. Excellent distinction between cache and memory latency.

So our MemBench is a test of real tasks. Games, work applications, anything. Is it a big difference, you may ask? Yes, the difference can be 10-30% compared to benchmarks.

I also want to demonstrate the result of Ryzen 7 9800X3D optimization without using PBO2 limits.

HYDRA 1.8E PRO - RELEASED!

This month I've been working on different areas such as "HYBRID OC" for X3D processors, improved "T-CONTROL" for gaming, and support for the new Ryzen G8000 processors.
In particular Curve Optiomizer for iGPUs that can be controlled from Windows. For other processors I will try to introduce this feature in the next update.

"DCFR" capabilities have been expanded and monitoring has been improved. For many processors it is now possible to manage additional settings from Windows.

"Dynamic VID for LT and MT" profiles allows "HYBRID OC" to control the processor voltage based on a user-specified allowable temperature (THM) within a certain range. That is, this feature will allow you to get a little more performance in some scenarios and a cooler processor in some labor-intensive scenarios.

Regarding the Ryzen 7 9800X3D - I couldn't make support in this update due to lack of availability. I ordered from Germany, but it's still in customs somewhere.

HYDRA 1.8C PRO (UPDATED T-CONTROL + POWERFUL CPU PROFILE CUSTOMIZATION) - RELEASED!

The first important feature of this update.

The imperfection of thread dispatching in Windows OS makes even successful processors collapse. Example 6-core APU AMD Ryzen 5 8600G. For load generation I chose CB23 in 6 threads mode and this is what I got. If threads are managed by Windows I got the result 8361, if threads are managed by HYDRA - 10147, which is 21% more. What is the difference? 4 fully loaded cores + 2 partially loaded cores for Windows dispatching, for HYDRA - all 6 physical cores. The same situation will be for any other processor, be it 8, 12 or 16 cores.

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, CB 23 6 threads, Windows dispatching - 8361

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, CB 23 6 threads, HYDRA dispatching

Also for the skeptics I made screenshots of what happens during the test itself to remove doubts in faking the results. Another important thing I am proud of is that 0-0.1% requires HYDRA for thread dispatching.

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, CB 23 6 threads, Windows dispatching

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, CB 23 6 threads, HYDRA dispatching

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, LinX 6 threads, Windows dispatching

AMD Ryzen 5 8600G stock, CB 23 6 threads, HYDRA dispatching

The last pictures perfectly show another improvement - the stability of the result due to minimal cotext switching.

The second important feature of this update.

For a better understanding of the possibilities, let's take a look at the example shown in the picture, in which modes each of the profiles works.

The first line is "LT" profile, which is responsible for processor management in tasks with low-thread load (up to 6 or 8 depending on the number of cores in CCD). It is in "H" mode (automatic frequency control by HYDRA) with respect to "VID" and "THM" values. That is, the limiting factor is either 1300mV or 75 degrees. There are no more limits (don't forget that the limiting factor of boost is always also dependent on "CO").

"MT" profile is designed to work with multithreaded load of different intensity. It is controlled in the same way as HYDRA since "H" mode is enabled, but with other limiting factors "VID" and "THM".

"GAME" profile is responsible for CPU boost in games. It is enabled only in situations when video card usage triggers are triggered. For this example, I unchecked "Dynamic" mode, which tells this profile to keep the CPU frequency set in the same table (5400MHz). In this mode, the profile is not affected by any limiting factors.

Next are group profiles "USER#0-2," which are intended for user customization. I added several rendering applications to the "USER#0" profile by double-clicking on it (after double-clicking on it an auxiliary application selection window opens).

Next, I switched the control mode from "H" to "PBO" (yes yes yes, that "AMD PBO") and set its limits as "PPT" 120 watts and 75 degrees. So what is going to happen in the end?

If HYDRA sees any of the applications added to the "USER#0" profile running, it will reconfigure the CPU boost to the limits I specified in the table.

In the group profile USER#1 I added e.g. browsers to it and set its "PPT" limit to 60W. In the "USER#2" profile I added photoshop.

You may have also noticed that there are other columns in the tables that I didn't say anything about. These are "EDC" and "TDC". You can customize this as well, in my case the value 0 means that we ignore this limitation.

Also for each group profile "USER#0-2" you can use a timer, which is responsible for what period of the day a particular profile is valid.

________________________________________________________________________________

The biggest question is why all this if you can leave the processor alone after finding and applying "AMD CO"?

1. The "H" mode (HYDRA control) ignores all factory limits of AMD processor boost. That is, for example 7600X processor can boost not up to 5.5GHz but up to 5.8GHz or even higher (if a lucky copy) without danger of damage or overheating.

2. Dynamic frequency in games does not always have a positive effect on gaming comfort, it can create freezes and lags, so manual frequency locking through the profile can help you significantly.

3. You give an ultimatum to an application or group of applications how much CPU power they are allowed to spend. Tired of browsers heating up your CPU to 80 degrees? Limit them by profiling them.

In fact, there are many examples, but the most important thing is that you are completely free to do what you want.

HYDRA 1.8B PRO (HYBRID OC for ZEN 5 + new PROFILE CREATION) - RELEASED!

No big headlines. This month I have been working on making the previously submitted features work as intended. I have analyzed the information you have provided over the past few months and identified the key points that needed to be changed. As a result, I have redesigned the search for HOC CO values so that the temperature factor cannot affect the diagnostic stop. I also did a full synchronization between the HOC CO value search functions and the final phase of profile creation so that profiles would be created correctly at the very last moment. I also conducted new research that allowed me to identify effective tests for each generation of processors and eliminate ineffective tests, resulting in less time spent diagnosing processors.

What's the bottom line?

I strongly advise everyone to run a full CPU diagnostic with recreating profiles. This will significantly affect the stability and performance of HYBRID OC.

A nice bonus from this update is a new feature to verify AMD CO values without a full scan. It is located in the "TESTS" tab.

HYDRA 1.8A PRO (ZEN 5 full support) - RELEASED!

Rounding out this month is the second update, which focuses on Zen 5 support and improving a number of features for other generations of processors, graphics cards, and RAM. Zen 5 received the first adequate AMD CO search preset, perhaps even the resulting values may be a bit of an understatement. My further work with the new generation of processors will of course make adjustments.

I paid special attention to the system of storing intermediate diagnostic values (any), now data writing bypasses caching to improve survivability of files.

Added VBS (virtualization based security) control function - you can disable it in settings to improve performance in games.

HYDRA 1.7F PRO (SUPER ADMIN) - RELEASED!

Super Admin ?

With the release of Zen 5, the Super Administrator account made a lot of noise (for those who don't know - running games through it allows you to boost performance in games on all CPU generations). Now you have the opportunity to evaluate it. The settings page offers to activate it in different ways convenient for you.

But. The most important but is the security risks. In this mode, the user, and therefore all programs have full access to all resources, processes and services of the system. Using Super Administrator is at your own risk.

My opinion on this is that Super Administrator can be used, but there are a few important rules: disabled Internet access and you refuse to run third-party software will keep you out of any problems.

Also, please do not confuse the capabilities of Super Administrator from running the game with administrator rights. These are completely different things. The difference is limited security policies, no virtualization or registry file control, a different privilege policy, no user profile and bypassing security mechanisms.

Updated presets for CPU diagnostic (AMD CO search)

I did a massive retest to select only the most effective tests to find AMD CO. This release includes the long awaited preset update for Zen 3 as well as additional adjustments for Zen 4. I also managed to update the algorithm of fast AMD CO search, thanks to which you will save time and get accurate results. Enjoy.

Zen 5

Since my samples are stuck as always somewhere in customs support for monitoring and a number of features is coming gradually. In this update specifically reading timings and memory settings will work, as well as monitoring for CPUs with 1 CCD. The rest of the features will be supported on August 31st with HYDRA 1.8A release.

HYDRA 1.7E PRO (EASY DIAGNOSTIC) - RELEASED!

EASY DIAGNOSTIC?

I want to present you with an interface of what a simple diagnostic would look like. You select only the preset, on the pictures you can see the description of what will be used in the scanning process.

After the diagnostics is finished, AMD PBO 2 or RTX-TUNER / RX-TUNER will be automatically enabled and the application will be minimized. So everything will be done automatically for you.

On the pictures there is an icon with gears - this is the transition to the advanced mode.

If you don't want to go into the settings - EASY DIAGNOSTIC!
You want to get started with HYDRA, but the manual looks complicated - EASY DIAGNOSTIC! EASY DIAGNOSTIC is all about user comfort.
EASY DIAGNOSTIC is a set of settings that I consider optimal for a particular scenario.

CPU DIAGNOSTIC - WHAT'S NEW?

This month was eventful: 2 updates of Y-cruncher and 3 versions of AGESA; which in turn could not but affect AMD CO search algorithms. Y-cruncher updated the tests, which for example were written more than 10 years ago, as well as the compiler. As a result, I decided to perform a full retest to find effective tests and tests that should be excluded from the list when searching for AMD CO (and in the future HOC CO).

So in addition to changes in tests I added one more algorithm for AMD CO search, which unlike the standard one checks the stability of neighboring cores after decrease the value of a certain core. That is, it studies the influence of a core on the CCD as a whole. I'll tell you at once that it will take a lot of time to diagnose the processor. 7950X / 7950X3D for example took more than 4-6 hours.

As a result, I got very conservative results for both processors. Perhaps even too conservative, but again, it's up to you to decide.

HYDRA 1.7D PRO (BIG UPDATE) - RELEASED!

T-CONTROL (THREAD-CONTROL)

This month will emphasize this particular feature. The main innovation is real-time management of CPU cores/threads for an infinite number of user processes. You can for example do this for a game or a work application, or you can for example use only the first CCD for gaming and the second CCD for streaming. That is, maximum performance and maximum gaming comfort is always with you.

In addition to controlling user processes, there is automatic thread control for processes with high CPU utilization. What does it mean? For example, you have made manual profiles for some games, but forgot to make it for a new game.

What will happen? Automatics selects the optimal threads for this game with priority on a high performance CCD without using SMT. If there are not enough threads, the SMT of the performance CCD will be enabled. If again there are not enough threads - the second CCD will be connected.

That is T-CONTROL is the correct use of processor cores/threads to achieve the maximum result.

I also made sure that T-CONTROL filters the processes and in no case can affect any system process, and the previously imposed mask will not randomly come off if the process decides to fix it.

GPU DIAGNOSTIC (speed increased up to 5x for AMD and up to 1.6x for NVIDIA)

I started preparing a material about overclocking video cards with HYDRA and did a comparative testing of video cards with and without waterblocks. Thanks to this I managed to find controversial points and unpredictable behavior of algorithms. Now everything should be as intended in 70% of situations. The higher percentage I can't offer due to factory defect / other user problems like "stuffy" case.

For example, the picture shows the cooling problem of my 7900 XTX, because of which it is constantly in throttle and therefore it is out of the question to pass the diagnostics correctly.
As a result, alternative methods like limiting the power package or limiting the frequency did not allow the video card to run without throttling. The loss was about 600MHz.

Video card diagnostics worked as it should only when the cooling system was replaced.
Be prepared for this, that your hardware requires upgrades.

HYDRA 1.7A PRO (NEW HYBRID OC) - RELEASED!

Hey, everybody!

#1

The complexity of the interface and multiple HYBRID OC profiles is one factor that may prevent the user from easily tuning CPU performance or discourage the use of HYDRA. Also multiple profiles is a complex branching structure that may not always be optimal or even stable for unique user workloads. Added to this is the paradox of CPU frequency loss due to suboptimal temperature as HYBRID OC profiles run at the same voltage.

All these nuances have been bothering me for a long time. Until today.

HYDRA 1.7A PRO is the first unique build that introduces a simpler HYBRID OC interface and truly dynamic profiles. There are now only two main profiles: “LT” is responsible for low-threaded load and “MT” is responsible for multi-threaded load.

In turn, the “MT” profile is now able to regulate its own voltage(!) in relation to the load and target temperature, which the user sets himself (column labeled “THM”). The operating voltage range ranges from -75mV to +50mV with respect to the VID value, which can be found in the "Profile's Table".

That is, we have an analog of AMD boost, but with full user control and absence of any frequency limits. You may say that AMD CO is a panacea, solves all problems and in general I am doing nonsense.

Almost, but it's not :) Why?

When we look for AMD CO stability we rely on what happens to the core with maximum voltage and maximum temperature in different tests. But at the same moment the found AMD CO value has no idea how the core behaves in low voltage or low temperature mode.

There is some formula in the processor's brains to build a curve for such conditions, but it still remains theoretical and still this curve will depend only on the behavior of the core at the maximum boost point.

In simple words - our CPU doesn't know where the frequency limit is for low voltage and low temperature.

That's why HYDRA has HOC CO LT (analogous to AMD CO) and HOC CO MT - 2 ecosystems based on practical research (diagnostics). This allows HYDRA to maximize performance across the full range of multi-threaded workloads and of course in single-threaded workloads.

#2

I would also like to mention an easier way to configure a user profile ("I want my photoshop to run at this frequency and voltage") using a new window.

#3

Everything is set up before you. I have tried to make sure that most of the settings are now stored under the hood.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

CPU/GPU PROFILE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION?

- NO.

ONLINE-GUIDE (1.6A) :

LINK

CHANGELOG:

* Dynamic VID for "MT" profile (important note, the dynamic VID for the "MT" profile can operate between -75mV and +50mV).
* Removed intermediate "HYBRID OC" profiles as their functionality is now accounted for in the "MT" profile.
* Added "TEL" and "Vdroop" info for Zen 4.
* New "HYBRID OC" profiles + reworked "HYBRID OC" algorithms. The stability of "HYBRID OC" has been significantly improved.
* New "CUSTOM" profile tab.
* "CUSTOM#1", "CUSTOM#2", and "MT HEAVY" are devoid of the dynamic boost feature because I can't predict user load.
* Improved user comfort, many times fewer settings that can be distracting.
* New "Profile Creation" (2 min only).
* Improved CPU diagnostic (HOC only).
* Fixed minor bugs when working with "HOC CO" table.
* HYDRA's protection system now does not interfere with AMD CO's search process.
* HYDRA background activity has been slightly reduced.

KNOWN ISSUES:

* False positive of antivirus (like always).

HYDRA 1.6F PRO (NEW SEARCH CURVE OPIMIZER VALUES) - RELEASED!

Hey, everybody!

This month, despite the huge power problems, I managed to realize 75% of the plan. This was a research of the behavior of cores under complex load to find the optimal CO. The results had a serious impact on the configuration files for the processor tests. In this update I added 3 basic tests for L1-L3 cache and FPU, which should have a positive impact on accuracy. I also paid special attention to the bugs you wrote about and those that were found during code refactoring. Added PBO presets for CPU diagnostics, added extra tests for verification stage and added support for some NVIDIA graphics cards (previously users could not use GPU diagnostics and RTX-TUNER). We simplified the HYBRID OC power-on operation and also restored full functionality of this feature after sleep. Support for Intel + NVIDIA systems has been restored.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

CPU/GPU PROFILE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION?

HYDRA 1.6E PRO (NEW SEARCH CURVE OPIMIZER VALUES) - RELEASED!

Hey, everybody!

As promised earlier this month I've expanded memory chip support for DRAM diagnostics, and new speed options have been added.

The second very important new feature was the update of CPU diagnostics - AMD CO (Curve Opptimizer) search. New algorithm, new rules and new complex tests for verification stage. Since not all processors have identical behavior in the same load there are 2 presets. The default is set to my recommendation, but you are free to break it. I have also added a setting for verification of obtained COs during diagnostics - you choose the number of cycles (by default my recommendation is as usual).

I also ask you to note that 1.6E requires a new APP PACK, since Ycruncher and Prime95 have been updated by the developers - I can't ignore it.

I want to say what I didn't have time to finalize: "CCD HOC CO" diagnostics and "Profile Creation". I'm working on it.

Work has been done to improve the stability of the application and fix a number of minor bugs.

HYDRA 1.6D PRO (EXTENDED DRAM TUNER) - RELEASED!

Hey, everyone! :)

This update is intended to make it easier to configure RAM. The tuner is able to select the optimal timings with respect to the rules and chip vendor. It is able to perform undervolting of a number of components and all this in automatic mode. Disadvantage? It is a long process and the better the memory chips the longer it takes. Built-in hints and assistant system will make the tuning process as comfortable and interesting as possible.

I would like to say a couple of words that the DRAM diagnostic module is just starting to develop. Support for new features and chip vendors will be added. Also I do not forget about other directions, for example, next month I will work on improving processor diagnostics (particularly X3D) and T-CONTROL.

! ! ! ! Before you start tuning DRAM, pay attention to the requirements:
DDR5 - reset all BIOS settings to default values and set REFI 65528.
DDR4 - reset all BIOS settings to default values and set the desired MEM VDDIO value (DRAM voltage).

CPU/GPU PROFILE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION?

- YES. JUST REPLACE .ini files (HYDRA folder).

DRAM TUNER - NEWS

Hi everyone!
I want to share news about the development of a RAM tuner.

At the moment it can:

1) Adjust user timings settings so that there are no inadequate values.
2) Tune timings individually for each type of chips taking into account all formulas and regularities.
3) Optionally do undervolting(!).

To test the most unpredictable situations, I took memory kits that were sold out on ebay (about 16 kits). They have no physical damage, but have binning issues.

Some kits marked "4800 only" were able to run 6000CL30 1260mV.

I will say for myself - memory overclocking is a complex process and not always predictable even for a professional. HYDRA diagnostics can replace any tips of popular youtuber and make your overclocking experience easier and more exciting.

For example, this kit failed to work stably with EXPO (6000 30-36-36-76 1.4). During diagnostics the culprits were found - RCD and RP below 37 always gave rare errors at any voltage.

HYDRA will get an update with new features at the end of the month. For DDR4 as well.

HYDRA 1.6B PRO - RELEASED! (QUALITY UPDATE)

Hey, guys!

We continue to move forward on our spaceship into uncharted regions. This month I've been working on improving the quality of the product after implementing new GPU diagnostics. This update has some serious innovations for RX graphics cards - automatically finding both core frequency and core voltages at the same time (this has never been done before). I haven't forgotten about Nvidia graphics card owners - improved algorithms and special attention is paid to RTX 4000 series graphics cards. Faster, more accurate.

Presets for GPU diagnostics have been added. Why? For example, you are a beginner or don't know the purpose of some settings - choose a preset (several types of undervolting and several types of overclocking) and press the start button. Everything is simple.

Added GPU and CPU samples quality evaluation (verdict at the end of diagnostics). I know you are wondering if you have won the lottery with the purchase of this or that product - now this information is available to you.

And much more.

P.s. The picture is humorous, no one sold a cat’s kidney to then buy an RTX 4090, of course :D

HYDRA 1.5C PRO - RELEASED!

Hello everyone!
This update is not as much a volume update as it is a quality update. This month you wrote quite a lot of feedback about CPU diagnostics and I decided to redo it for the fourth time. It adds a number of tests (Y-cruncher), which more effectively check the operation of the core caches and also create a load to which the processor cannot adapt (previously you may have seen that some tests do not see errors in unstable CO). Algorithm of testing has been changed, the emphasis is on the number of various tests rather than long single-type tests.

The second important innovation is HYDRA CORE CURVE BUILDER - create your own curve for Nvidia graphics card in a few clicks.

Third - there are no limits for RTX/GTX-TUNER now (except for voltages).

______________________________________________________

CPU PROFILE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION?

- YES.

ONLINE-GUIDE (1.3A) :

LINK

CHANGELOG:

* "APP PACK" has been updated to the latest versions. Critical for HYDRA version 1.5.
* HYDRA CORE CURVE BUILDER for Nvidia graphics cards. The user selects the number of points and offset/voltage values through which the curve will be drawn. No analogs from third-party software.
* No limitations in GTX/RTX-TUNER. For users who want to use extreme overclocking.
* Nvidia GPUs. The operating voltages range for the curve is increased to 1.1 volts.
* Increased error finding penalty values for GPU diagnostics. As a result, it should affect the stability of the final curve.
* CPU diagnostics written from scratch ("PHOENIX" also). Added a number of Y-cruncher tests to check the stability of the cache and cores under certain conditions. The testing algorithm has been changed.
* "HYDRA CPU DIAGNOSTIC CENTER" interface has been restructured to improve the user comfort and key settings are now defined by the application itself to avoid incorrect settings.
* "HYDRA CPU DIAGNOSTIC CENTER" has added the ability to quickly re-diagnose the "HOC CO", just enable the "Use my HOC" option.
* "HYDRA CPU DIAGNOSTIC CENTER" added the ability to enable critical WHEA event checking to improve the accuracy of CO value retrieval.
* "HYDRA CPU DIAGNOSTIC CENTER" will allow the Zen 4 user to select a preset for testing. The difference is that the Super Heavy preset includes the AVX2 instruction set (for some reason they are more resource intensive for Zen 4 than AVX512).
* "HYDRA CPU DIAGNOSTIC CENTER" has been given the ability to synchronize custom "AMD CO" values with starting values by clicking on the button with the icon of two arrows pointing at each other.
* Fixed a bug where "HYBRID OC" did not want to automatically power on after a system reboot.
* Changed basic trigger settings for "HYBRID OC" (settings tab). Faster detection of running game and less suboptimal profile switching.
* Improved overall application stability, improved exception handling and added support for CPU engineering samples.
* Fixed bug in multi-GPU systems when GPU diagnostics load the wrong GPU.
* Fixed a bug for GTX 1000 family graphics cards where custom frequency values for the curve did not match reality.

KNOWN ISSUES:

* False positive of antivirus (like always).
* Resetting the PBO2 default values may set incorrect values.

About the "good life" and the free extra version of HYDRA PRO.

Once again I notice angry messages in the chat that HYDRA developer lives perfectly well and doesn't develop anything. I don't see the point in justifying myself, but I want to tell you briefly what my life consists of now and what the project is.

1. There is war in my country, there is war in my frontline city. 2 days ago several shahid drones exploded 350 meters away from me. 3 days ago S300 missiles fired from Belgorod flew into the city in the middle of the night. People are dying every day. We have an air alert every hour or every half hour and a recommendation to go to a shelter. We don't have clubs, theaters, we don't have concerts or matches. Of entertainment we have a park with trees that is not lighted in the evening and grocery stores. Some coffee shops are open in the middle of the day. In the city they check documents and in some places there are checkpoints. Personal privacy is extremely limited. There is a curfew in the evening. I don't think you can call it the wonderful life that Discord-revolutionaries write about.

2. The project already contains more than 100,000 lines of ungenerated code. I haven't counted the number of research hours for a long time, but I can say with certainty that if we have electricity (it is often turned off) 3 test benches work 16-18 hours a day for more than 4 years. 1 person who develops, the same person conducts research, this person writes documentation and this person conducts earlier testing. This person communicates with you in chat when physically there is such an opportunity. Of course I am helped by guys with hearts of gold, who have a signature in Discord CPU/GPU GURU, bow down to them.

The development of the project has not stopped in any direction, but in some directions I'm really stalling because I can't find the right approach that will satisfy the majority rather than a certain percentage of the public. After a short break and some ideas from @Veii, I started a new research that should be a new generation of CPU diagnostics. The first test version will already be available at the end of the month, as usual. The second main focus is to work on the accuracy of GPU diagnostics.

3. To summarize the previous two points, I am at least offended to see rudeness or reports of "cheating". I hate to see accusations against guys who wear the CPU/GPU GURU labels. I think it's fair to apply the indefinite ban feature to sources of conflict.

4. It's no secret that AMD or NVIDIA don't like this project, as it may affect interest in new products and reduce their future profits or just show some incompetence in terms of factory optimization. Therefore, I am currently an independent developer, and your donations are the engine of further development. I also managed to buy a 2 kW solar power plant with your donations. I will say one thing, independence is very expensive.

5. Free PRO version. I would like to thank the users who have been subscribers or are subscribers now, who have been helpful or patient - the PRO version will be available at the end of September (possibly October). The time frame will vary depending on how successful the research I'm working on now is.

Thank you!

Zen 4 diagnostic - your thoughts?

I think many of you have encountered the problem when the values after diagnostics for CO are positive, not even 0.

Here is my example, the core has already a value of +2. So the factory values are unstable?

Let's get to the bottom of this.

Prime95 is currently being used to diagnose the processor. I am neither its developer nor co-author. I and other well-known enthusiasts in the process of research have set up settings that effectively find errors. As it happens, the current load level created by Prime95 in AVX mode demonstrates even the instability of the stock processor, and temperatures are at the threshold of 95 degrees.

AVX in Prime95 turns out to be even heavier than AVX512. SSE = AVX2. There are 3 outcomes of this event:

1) Wait for Prime95 author to make adjustments to the code of his product or AMD to make throttling adjustments for such scenarios. I don't believe any of them will do anything.

2) Continue to use this approach and get information that some cores are unstable even in stock, but in this case even a super mega heavy stress test will be passed.

3) Refuse to use AVX for Zen 4 in Prime95. Test with SSE and get results that will satisfy stability in 3D Mark, Games, Cinebench R23 and so on. The problem with this approach is that users who are used to testing in mega-heavy super-stress tests will get instability, and as a consequence a flurry of indignation in all forums and chats.

What to do in this case?

Note 1.
Fortunately Zen 3 is past such a problem, Prime 95 generates the appropriate load. The problem only exists for Zen 4.
Note 2. OCCT I do not consider it because the problem is similar there + error detection as such is absent (except of course for scenarios of super mega load activation which will prove that CO 0 is unstable).

__________________________________________________________________

Alternative. At the moment I'm doing research that might be a solution to the Zen 4 diagnostic problem. No details yet, but keep your fingers crossed for me.

HYDRA CORE CURVE CONTROL - HOW TO USE

Q: - How to change the offset value for all points at the same time?

A: - For simultaneous offset increase or offset decrease the user has access to 2 keys, the icons on which indicate in which direction the offset will be changed. The step is 10MHz. Very useful function if you have detected instability after diagnostics. Try 1 or 2 steps down.

Q: - I want to set a voltage limit (or undervolting) for the curve, how do I do this quickly?

A: - You will only need 2 clicks. First click - select the value on the table that should be the limit, in my case it is 850mV. The second click on the button with the scissors icon - it will automatically "cut off" the part of the curve that the video card will not use. This key is your friend also if you need undervolting.

Q: - I want to set the offset for all points of the curve at the same time, but I don't want to use the step up or step down tool (down and up arrow icon buttons), how do I do it?

A: - You will need 2 actions. The first is to enter the desired value in any cell of the table and select it. Second - click on the synchronization button (pictogram with two arrows pointing at each other).

Q: - I want to "reset" all offsets, i.e. return the curve to the factory state, how to do it?

A: - Just click on the button with the eraser icon.

Q: - Is it possible to combine the offset synchronization function (sync button) and then use the curve trimming function (cut button)?

A: - Yes, you are completely free to experiment.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

NOTE 1.
If you are satisfied with the changes, click on the button with a tick icon, if you do not want to apply the changes - click on the button with a cross icon.

NOTE 2. In order for the adapter(s) settings to be applied, make sure the "profile-switching" feature is active and highlighted (on/off icon). If it is not active, click this button.

If there are settings in the system that differ from the settings saved in the file, you will see an highlighted button with a floppy disk icon. To change the button-status it is enough to click on it.

To the right of the button to enable "profile-switching", there will be information about which profile is currently active.

HYDRA 1.5A PRO - RELEASED!

Hi everyone!

I think many people noticed that the project now has version 1.5. Yes it is. In addition to new features, attention was paid to long internal testing and improving the comfort of user interaction with the application.

I will not be afraid of these words, but this version is a significant evolutionary step in terms of stability and quality of work of a number of functions.

And now let's get a bit more detailed.

____________________________________________________________

The new feature is NVIDIA graphics card diagnostics. Allows the user to find a new volt-frequency curve relative to the given parameters, that will improve the performance of the graphics card. Acutal for both GTX 1000 users and RTX 4000 owners.

Results.

The process is fully automatic and the results will be saved to the "Global" profile.
Note that to the left of the status there is a button to activate settings regarding profiles.
You can see or change the found curve by clicking on the "CHANGE" button (Core Curve Control section).

The user has a powerful mechanism to control and modify the volt-frequency curve.

T-CONTROL is an updated version of Overriding best cores, which allows HYDRA to rationally manage the allocation of CPU threads (and SMT) to the most active application thereby increasing performance.

A tangible result is achieved in systems with more than 8 processor cores. T-CONTROL also allows to improve gaming comfort.

New page for tests.

HYDRA 1.3G PRO (major DCFR update) - RELEASED!

The last few weeks have been very eventful - particularly the dying Zen 4 for a number of reasons. Along with this for example ASUS has released 4 versions of BIOS. The other players in the market have the same thing. This mess created a lot of problems for testing and I decided to shift my efforts to finalizing the well-known DRAM Calculator for Ryzen (DCFR). A huge number of presets were added and also an assistant was developed to help you set up DRAM on your own without knowledge of all the subtleties and rules of timing settings. This assistant is not over yet and in the next update will also receive a very interesting ability (I'll tell you later). Also, speaking of future updates - I will continue to add new presets and tweak existing ones. Of course, this is not all and the next month will be very full of new features.

TO USE THE AUTOMATIC UNDERVOLTING/OVERCLOCKING FUNCTIONS, INSTALL
MSI KOMBUSTOR IN THE ROOT FOLDER OF THE APPLICATION!!!

CPU PROFILE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION?

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1_j6vB61koOVwEHLrvqt7lh1RYw4XRuoTIeEDtYmnFj0/edit?usp=sharing

CHANGELOG:

* CHECK TIMINGS (DCFR tab) function that allows you to check the set timings or the timings you plan to change for JEDEC rules and optimal overclocking. The color indication will allow you to visually determine which timings are optimal (green), sub-optimal (yellow) or critically (red) wrong. In the next update it is planned that this assistant in addition to the color indication will tell you what value should be set. Works for DDR4 in the range of 3600-3800 and DDR5 in the range of 5600-6200 MT/s.
* DDR5. All presets got another important information field - CPU VDDIO/MC. This is one of the most critical voltages for memory stabilization.
* DDR5. Added normal and fast presets for Hynix A-die.
* DDR5. Added normal and fast presets for Samsung B-die.
* DDR4. Added fast presets for Samsung B-die.
* DDR4. Added normal and fast presets for Hynix CJR and DJR.
* DDR4. Due to the fact that the timing of RCDRD significantly depends on the luck of the sample, I made a note in the presets (in brackets) that maybe if it is not stable you should use a higher value.
* A number of edits and innovations to existing presets.

KNOWN ISSUES:

* Zen 3 APUs refuse to change CO during CPU diagnostics.
* The active iGPU in Zen 4 can cause problems with RX-TUNER or GPU diagnostics.
* The found COs for some processors can be 2-4 steps more optimistic than in reality. Additional testing algorithms are being developed.
* Some DRAM presets require additional testing.
