Restoring OST

Ok I've finally decided to cross my heart and take in some extra megabytes but restore some of the tracks to their original/uncut versions. Here's Cold Rock in all of it's 11 minute glory. 

Raw Whisper is also significantly extended, and as a general rule I've removed the silence periods in between loops for some of the tracks, and for the shorter ones like Industro I did some improvisations to fill in more play time.

Diving Into Episode 2

Well, here it is. Map11's first sketch. That bit of color is just there to get an idea, I won't color the whole thing because I find it too spoiler-ish in case you're wondering.

Hedon on GoG?

Ok, so one of the things I wanted to do after releasing1.4.0 is attempt to get Hedon on the GoG store. A lot of people have been asking for this, and now with this update I feel more confident that it will be accepted there.

Submitting it was a fairly simple process, but this isn't Steam, so rejection is a thing to potentially consider. Don't get your hopes up, yet, I'll keep you posted.

Phew. Another milestone reached! Thanks again for the support, and enjoy the new stuff!
Next stop - commencing Episode 2. After I'll get feedback and fix whatever turns out to be broken with 1.4.0 of course, but still, moving onward!

Shield Bash

Some of the testers have told me that the Hatchet and Shield becomes a bit redundant when getting the stronger Bearzerk weapons, so I decided to further this weapon combo's personality by allowing the player to perform shield bashes while blocking with the alt fire.

This will cause a strong pushback as well as a reliable attack that can keep the player protected to anything coming from the front.

BTW, update will release this Sunday on Steam. Keep an eye out!

Enter hGZDoom

Okay okay, don't get overexcited, this isn't that big of a deal.

So I decided I wanted to stop depending on GZDoom so much, and I hired Rachael from the ZDoom community to make me a Hedon specific engine fork.

Due to the nature of the license of the engine, I also had to essentially come up with a new name and logo, and I went for something that would reflect that this is just a minor fork and it's still 99.9% GZDoom. So what does it do then?

New Lancer Attacks

Gave the Lancer a force-pull like attack (same as the Force Pike's alt fire) and a Lightning Spark blast for close range.

Steam Vanity Stuff Update

Okay, so Steam achievements look like alien to me code wise. I have no idea if they would work with GZDoom or how the hell could I implement them if they did.

However, Hedon was finally greenlit by Steam to allow trading cards, badges, custom backgrounds and emoticons, which I worked on adding today. Nothing too new, I mostly used the artwork laying around, but still, it's a nice touch community-wise. They will be available once with 1.4.0!

1.4.0 Update Reveal - Bearzerk Difficulty

This is what I've been working on lately, and I think it's finally time to show you guys what's coming up! Aside from few bugfixes and the sprite updates for the weapons, I've been planning to add a 6th "fun" difficulty called "Bearzerk" where the player is limited to martial weapons only (i.e. no more guns).


So far, the difficulty aims to bring the spawn numbers of Brutalizing with the weaker enemy stats of HeadOn in a difficulty that significantly alters the way combat flow...

Crushbow Animation Update

So yeah, a lot of people have been complaining about Zan keeping her hand on the charging handle, so I just decided to revamp the animation, and put her hand away when she's not loading in a bolt.

Anyway, this made the fire rate sliiiighly slower, so I decided to counter buff it by giving the Fire Bolts (primary fire) a bit more explosion radius and damage. I think the Crushbow is in a pretty good spot now balance wise.

Crylance & Sentry HUD Sprites Update

I really like how the Crylance update went, it definitely look more like a hi tech alien weapon than a wimpy wrench. Gave it more screen size, enlarged the front blades and improved the alt fire charge-up animation, definitely feels a lot better now.

Fragfire Gun Brush-up

Basically updated the new hand sprite on each of the gun's frames and smoothed out the jaggy edges for the holding frame.

Remade the Axe sprites, replacing the crappy jagged ones with some proper hi res graphics.

Weapons Update P1 : New Fist Graphics

Phew, back in business at last!
A lot of people have remarked that the weapon sprites and fists look pretty iffy, so I decided to make an update to adjust and polish them all. First will be the fists, as you can see them here. They're bigger and the gloves are less black, so I can give them a bit more definition and make them work better in contrast with holding weapons.

Reward Adjustment

Hey guys, just letting you know that I swapped the beta access to the Initiate tier (from Warlock) and the game key reward to Warlock (from Initiate). The reason is that Steam doesn't allow the distribution of keys at a lower price than on their store, and I would rather reward keys than .zips.
This also means more people who support Hedon will have access to future beta builds before anyone else, and be able to contribute with feedback first hand.
