Working on this kind of projects where the same colours are repeated in the same quantities on every model, I imagine the process more like painting a single big miniature instead of multiple figures; this help a lot in keeping the planning of the main steps essential and consistent, focusing the attention on the general flow and the look of the unit. This mindset also alleviates a bit the boredom of the assembly line painting!&n...
Modern boxed games like Cursed City contain as many models as a full army and the task of painting everything can be intimidating... BUT, there are ways to speed up (a lot!) the process and make it extremely enjoyable without giving up a bit of visual quality and "wow" effect 😉. And of course you can use these ideas to paint proper armies!
(No, playing with grey plastic is not an option in my world 😂)

Time for homework!!! You have maximum 4 hours to complete the job, a limited palette
(I suggest you the classic Cyan, Magenta and Yellow or the Zorn palette if you don't want to worry about colour harmonies!) and an artwork to translate in 3D: do you accept the challenge? 😁

I kept the original size of the frame in the airbrushing stage so you can see better where the airbrush is and how it's moving ;)

White is universally known as a tricky colour to paint, but when you are conscious of its behaviour in art and real life (with a bit of help from physics, physiology and psychology), it becomes probably one of the easiest to tones to use 😁

I have a lot of extra footage from the brush work stage of this project and as always I was able to put on YT only a fraction of the hours spent adding details.
"Sadly" YouTube videos need a lot of synthesis and concision to please the algorithm and reach the mainstream flow and even if I totally recognize the teaching value of a clear, short message, trying to condensate hours of meticulous work in 12-15 minutes sometimes can be really frustrating XD.
From now on I want to share ...
The underground setting of the new Warcry boxset and the background and style of the two new warbands really pushes on the theme of extreme lights and shadows and here's my speed painting take on the Khainite Shadowstalkers;
