It was a lovely sunny morning and i wanted to flex my comic muscles with a little intro to a few commoners at the Bed n Breakfast that my chickadee oc Breadbowl works at!
Davide is reassuring Gio, saying they can ask Breadbowl (Santino) if he's seen the toy truck when they go back to the BnB for lunchtime.
I'm enjoying my time off from commission work :^} keep an eye out for more of these little comics soon!

Good day and happy April, patrons! So happy to see you all here for another month!
The past few weeks I've been wrapping up my comission work and preparing for many big changes. I'm gonna be starting my plush business this month and I couldn't be more excited! I think it'll be really good for me! :^} I'm starting to see myself get better at it and it's been a lot of fun. I hope that it'll give me a lot more free time for comics, so that's a plus!
Speaking of comics, I've put my gay little foot down and decided I'm gonna have to start a story during Spring. I'm working harder and harder to get cracking, but I'm still quite nervous, though I feel like I'm truly ready.
You'll of course be the first ones to hear about it! Whichever one it may be >:^)
I know the past few months have been a little slow but I promise it'll all come to fruition soon. My comics are my vitality and I know once I have a more secure line of work set up I'll be feelin good and itching to draw some pages!
I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of them. I'm so pumped :"^} I can't wait to give more updates later this month!

Henry has been one of the most challenging designs I've made for a comic!!! He seems really simple but trying to convey strong emotions through a subtle person and sea beast eyes has proven a difficult task @_@ I've been learning from animation techniques and using my own expressions and emotions to try and carve Henry from the inside out in these two sketches of him connecting with Delmar. Needs some more work ofc! But that's why it's a test! >:^)

Spent the past two days finishing up Henry. After 4 years of drafting he's finally where I want him, design and personality!
He's a young man of few words, quiet, keeps to himself, knows he doesn't belong with other humans and not with the sea beasts. He holds great respect for the ocean and the creatures in it, even if they do not trust him yet.
By eating pieces of fallen stars that sparingly wash ashore of his beach, he's slowly attaining the power of the ancient sea beasts that rest deep below the ocean. After years of feeling like an outsider for what he can't control, he's disconnected himself from humanity and has no desire to return.

Hey hi and welcome to my first check-in :^} these will be a new thing around here to replace the moodboard posts, I feel these are a little more interesting both to make and (hopefully) to read!
These past few weeks have been artistically difficult. I’ve been struggling with balancing work with time to myself, and as many of you know I’ve been suffering major burnouts. While I’m finding healthy and happy ways to get my commission work done slow and steady, I’m having a really hard time with my comics and “drawing for myself” in general. I hope in the coming weeks I can get things feeling more balanced. I have a few things planned to try and get myself out of this depression.
I’ve been looking around for hobbies to pass the time. Nothing’s clicked yet, but hopefully soon! I’ve been playing a little more Pokemon SoulSilver than usual, and I’ve certainly spent my whole collecting budget for the month. The hunt continues for something to lovingly pass the time!!! If I pick anything new up I’ll be sure to share next time >:^)
Comic-wise I’m frustrated I haven’t done much on my one-month-comic-plan. I knew it was a long shot for me when I started. I’m starting to pinpoint a lot of my issues with making comics these days and doing my best to find out how to make them feel natural and fun for me. To start, I’m going to try and get to know my characters a little better and try to draw them doing anything besides just standing around!!
Hoping to mainly tackle Henry, Shift, and Mint this time. They all suffer from the "too shy to have a personality" issue. Wish me luck in fleshing these pals out!

A fine Fri' morn to you, Patrons!
Time for the final steps of my backpack badges!
Applying vinyl on these was a challenge due to their size. When i apply my vinyl (it comes in sheets) I try to lay it as flat as possible over as much of the image as I can, with some extra room. The bigger your image is, the harder vinyl is to apply by hand. My vinyl buckled in some places and ended too short of the finished pic, leaving some gnarly creases and slashes. Most air bubbles can be rubbed out, though. I've mentioned my use of a tonehera deleter before, but I'd much more recommend a bone folder (rounded, won't scrape up the vinyl) or even a thick popsicle stick.
DEFINITELY DO THIS STEP IF YOU APPLY VINYL BY HAND! Tiny air pockets get cramped between the drawing and the vinyl, and with a simple rub the colors pop far more. It'll result in a glossier badge with bolder colors.
I get my vinyl from etsy, there's dozens of types! Looking up "transparent adhesive vinyl" usually does the trick. Look for self-adhesive, not heat-adhesive.
Once the vinyl was on everything, I put some over the front side of the arms (on the back I used some extra scrap vinyl because you won't typically see behind the paws. Mostly to keep the paper underneath from being damaged). I carefully cut out the arms, and I cut out the figures as well. I left a bit of a boarder on the figures so hanging them up would be easier and they'd be less likely to snag.
I put a bit of hot glue on the elbows and lined them up into position. Once it dried, I carefully wiggled on the backpack and presto!
The boarder had to be thinned around a few parts so everything fit snugly.
IF YOU'RE MAKING BADGES INVEST IN A SLOT HOLE PUNCH! it will save your art and your hands and your time!!! I can't believe how long I waited to get myself one. I'm also doing a fun side project where I'm saving all the badge slot clips I make in 2021, and at the end of the year I'll count em up! :^}

Part tuh-woo! I went ahead and chose black colored pencil to line my badges (oops... 9-Spot joins the party?). Most of my pens either bled or didn't give me the right look. Colored pencil had just the right amount of freedom and forgiveness!
I erased most of my base pencil until there were faint guidelines. Then once I had my lineart, I got to coloring with watercolors. This took about 2 hours to fill in both badges completely on one side.
When I was finished, I took a break to let them dry and I went over a few spots with some more black colored pencil. Afterwards, I made large cuts to free them from their notebook prison and I traced the pattern on the other side with my lightboard. (Highly recommend finding even a small one to use for art! It's a handy tool!)
Once both were front-n-back complete, I moved onto the paws.
Next time I'll discuss the final steps with vinyl (most tricky!) Hope you're enjoying it so far ;^}

Hello Patron Peepz! Welcome to the first badge make-along/tutorial! I'm putting together a new type of badge today, I expect to hit many-a roadblock. I'll be sharing a new step each day till it's done.
Starting off I have a prototype made of some ranfom scrap paper, my specific badge requires being a certain size (a lot bigger than I thought) to hold up the little dolly backpacks I got. When I got the shape right I traced my prototype onto my final paper and sketched out my character (my victim is Cookie!!)
Figuring out what medium to use for traditional work can be hard, especially for two-sided badges like this.
I think I'm going to go for watercolors and crayola markers since they don't bleed through the paper. On regular traditional badges with colorful backing, such as my bite badge, I tend to go with any pens I like, bleed or not. MAKE SURE TO TEST YOUR MATERIALS BEFORE STARTING! you don't wanna start all over, that'd be rough!
For two-sided traditional badges, most papers can handle tombow calligraphy pens, ballpoint pens, crayola markers, crayon pencils, colored pencils, and SOMETIMES watercolor (thick mixed media paper does best, bristol is another great paper for badges, but it's extremely smooth and watercolor doesnt quite "stick" to it.)
Avoid sharpies/similar permanent line pens, felt-tip pens (on bristol is fine), and alcahol markers like copics. These boyz bleed like nobody's business!

OOPS! I went a little batty this morning and decided hey.... I bet I could finish a short comic in 4 weeks!!!! Why the heck not?
For the next 4 weeks I'll spend an hour a day working on a story concept I came up with last year about a loser named Coriander who's trying to break out of his shell and find love. He works at a diner called The Pudgy Budgie, where he meets a regular named Emilio.
The pics are mostly from last year, but the plan pages are from today! Updates and early reads will be coming till I'm all done, yahoo!

Happy 2 am, Patroneezes! Here's the main "message" for M13-711 - I'll work the plot around this. It feels good so far!

Next I'll be working on more characters for this story since oops... I only have 2 so far. Sleep first, though!
I'll have some more interesting stuff / lore to share about this story soon, but for now have this wip that I'm chipping away at! The final piece will be available to the public but you're gonna get all the sexy sexy secrets...

Good morn! This was a fun experiment - I wrote out all the settings/places/locations I could imagine going through my 2000's-based story, and then I went back and added sparkwords in black. It helped a ton to get some new ideas for the plotline and for fun scenes!

New character concept! Pryce is a penguin and Mint's best friend. He's a bargain bin hunter and a realist. He's the only one of Mint's buddies who really wants to "hang out" with him anymore.
He'll have a toyhouse page soon!
Kintal's weirdly goofy, parental energy was leftover from a long-ago plotline. He's more of a foolish pirate-type now! More to come soon.
I'll have to rework this scene a smidge, I made it a few weeks ago - since then, the polls have spoken! Henry will know some French! Good for him!
