Update to my reward tiers coming

Hey Patrons! Just letting you all know that I'm going to be doing a bit of a revamp to the old Patreon account here in the next day or two.

Since I really don't have time to do extensive reward art for the upper tiers, I'm going to fulfill those rewards and then cut out the $20 and $30 tiers altogether.

$1,$5, and $10 tiers will remain, and I'll give the new descriptions for those. Basically, $1 and $5 will remain mostly the same, and I'll show some extra cool stuff to those ...

Archie Sonic #291 page 1 pencils

Been busy drawing the new #1 for IDW, but for the rest of the month, I'll be showing off the last full issue of Archie's Sonic comic. You all probably know that this issue never got published (although I do believe it was pretty much finished with ink and color)

This issue was the 4th and last in the 25th anniversary celebration that saw the comics doing loose adaptations of Sonic 1, 2, CD and Knuckles. this issue is the Sonic and Knuckles game story. So, keep an eye out for the next 20 ...

Sonic test

Just fiddling around, getting the feel for working without ink outlines. This is one the big things using the iPad will allow me to do. I’ll work more on this kind of thing as time allows.

Cosmo #1 retailer variant cover colors

And here are the colors, also done MOSTLY on the iPad using Comic Draw. I did a few color holds and such in photoshop and placed the normal comic cover into Richard’s hands and such. There a few things that I’ve found it’s easier or quicker to do with photoshop until I gain some more finesse with the comic draw app. Overall a really fun project that I was happy to have the opportunity to do.

Cosmo #1 retailer variant cover inks

I did the pencils for this on the iPad,but actually printed them out and used a light box to do inks on physical paper because I knew Richard would want an original piece of art for his retailer cover.

Cosmo #1 retailer variant pencils

When I knew I’d be doing a #1 issue, I thought it would be a great chance to do a unique retailer variant cover for my longtime friend and patron, Richard Morgan of Richard’s Comics and Collectables in Greenville
, SC. He wanted to get him and his staff in on the fun so I came up with this based on Richard’s suggestion.

I penciled this with the iPad. It really feels natural penciling on it and it’s easy to make changes in a digital format.

Cosmo!

Since Archie’s new book Cosmo came out yesterday, I’ll be doing a lot of Cosmo art posts this month. Thanks to all my patrons for sticking with me over the last couple of months. I’ve been very busy and will be for some time to come, but stay tuned for lots more Cosmo artwork coming up!

Patreon's new payment system

In case you haven't heard, Patreon is supposed to be changing the way they charge patrons so they'll end up paying more. I don't like the idea and if you should decide not to continue supporting me through Patreon as a result of their changes, I will understand completely. If you want to voice your displeasure to Patreon, that might help them rethink their decision and go back to a system that we were all happy with.

As for my patreon page, I'm going to be reworking it most likely this w...

Checking in. (GASP!)

Hi patrons! I know I haven't done anything in the last month and a half. I've been busy with Cosmo for Archie along with day to day life. I probably won't have time for any webcomics or much new stuff for a while.

Pretty soon, I'll be putting up some more behind the scenes type production art and things, but I think overall, I'm going to be reducing the number of patron levels since I don't have time to do reward art. I'll let you all know in the next few days how that will work.

Inktober 5 “Long”

Fun fact: The lyrics for Sephiroth’s famous boss battle theme “One Winged Angel” are taken from various movements found in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Swaptember

Hey! Sorry about the slow month so far. It's been a bit busy with various things. I know many people do the Inktober thing, and some people do Swaptober instead. If you're not familiar with it, it's drawing characters gender-swapped. I plan on doing Inktober, so I'll be doing as many "Swaptember" drawings as I can this month.
Also, fun fact: this was one of the first things done on my new iPad Pro. (Thanks to Verizon for buying stuff in payments) it's a bit rough, but I'll be working on it.

Sonic #218 Cover

This was a fun one. Its tough to draw Sonic when he's curled up in a spin dash ball. I usually just go with a circle with some spikey bits sticking out. But I wanted to do an "iconic" sort of, in-your-face shot of Sonic comin' at ya in a ball (mostly)

I recall seeing this image on a t-shirt on the now defunct Official Sonic Merchandise website at one point. And someone at Momocon a couple years back had this shot of Sonic as part of a huge tattoo on his forearm. Awesome!

Sonic Universe #75 variant cover

This was my art for the one of the many variant covers to SU#75. I think this was the first time I did the "scan lines" on Metal Sonic's eyes like we see in the Sonic Heroes game. I thought it was a cool effect and I try to put it in all the time now.

Sonic Universe #71 Cover

Here's a fun cover I got to draw. This story arc was written by the talented Aleah Baker (Flynn?) with colors by the ever-amazing Ben Hunzeker. This one proved to be a little troublesome because I had gotten used to drawing Big the Cat much smaller than his official Sega model. They wanted me to size him up a bit, but it had already been inked and colored, so isolating Big and resizing him in Photoshop and cleaning up all the pixels around him that were part of the backgorund was pretty tricky.&...

Sonic Digest #2 Cover

I was HOPING to show you something new, but I realized that Matt Herms already put this up. This cover came out during some of the legal troubles over echidnas, so they dropped Knux off the printed version. Here's how the cover looks as it was originally drawn.

StH#242 Cover inks

This was a weird issue. A completely random Summer Olympics tie in that was out of continuity and fell in the middle of an ongoing story arc?

Fun fact: This was originally intended to be a promotional giveaway item at McDonald's restaurants. Would've been kinda cool to have (millions?) of kids see my comic book cover and immediately throw it in the trash when they were done running wild in the playplace. C'est la vie!

Sonic Worlds Unite Battles page 1

This was a fun 5 page project and different because I got to ink my own pencils. These were the only interior pages on Sonic that I inked myself, with the exception of a few patches for panels that needed to be changed quickly.

Also, the colors on this particular page were by me as well. I was going to do all the colors as well, but I'm not super quick at coloring and I didn't want to get behind on other pages, so I handed it over to the ever-reliable Matt Herms, who redid this page as w...
