So, I've been experimenting with some ideas I've had for videos!

In this post you'll get the PNGs for my little persona which you can use if you like, I did so here with this photo! It's supposed to evoke the image of a desktop pet, a BonziBuddy or a Clippy type of character and the channel is going to be themed around old computer tech.

"Cat Girl" News...

So if you're wondering why I haven't made new Cat Girl updates recently even though my contract job has ended, well...

That is because I've been spending a few months working on my pitch! That's right, I am PITCHING Cat Girl! Some close friends already know but the news was bound to get out eventually so I'm pleased to announce this. I don't know what will come of it or if it will get picked up, but I've had a blast reworking the story to be even better and more true to my vision.

I Was A Teenage Homestuck

So back in the 2010s I was a huge fan of Homestuck, I did cosplay, fanart, fanfiction and even roleplayed as the characters. I'm doing a video where I will touch on my personal story regarding Homestuck from which this illustration was derived.

Here's a bag that I've been working on since I think 2021? I wanted to do this bag justice for a while and my prototypes were hand-made with my own vinyl that easily peeled off. Now I'm going to get it professionally manufactured. However, in order to be able to do that I need to save about $400. So hopefully these come to a store near you soon!

I Fucking Quit (zine)

This is my newest zine and zines will be a much more regular thing from now on, I'm in fact already working on another one as we speak.

A little story behind this zine:

For about 2 years now, 3 years if you count the time that I was substituting, I've been working towards education and being an art teacher. I was able to secure a spot working on my alternative certification and it came with a paid internship as a teacher for a school year. I had other opportunities to full-time substitute at a school I really liked in order to do this and I picked a district in my area and a school which I was confident I could drive to.

It has been a trying experience and one which has put me off of teaching for the foreseeable future.

Maybe someday I'll talk in specifics but for now, I just want to say that I've found out through trial and error that school just isn't for me.

No education is wasted however because I do still love to explain and give tutorials!

But as it stands, I still have to finish out my contract year as best as I can.

$100 - Comic Tutorial, where I go through my process making comics in either a blog post or video format

$500 - Merch Expansion, now that I'm comfortably making enough to offset the cost, I can start producing more merchandise for the work I make and producing all-new merch in the form of general designs such as t-shirts, lanyards and more; high-tier patrons will receive new products at a discount or even free-of-charge

$1000 - Videomaking, where I can begin to make videos online of my work, including sketchbook videos, art videos, production videos, livestreams, and Q&As on a regular basis now that I am funded within my goal

SKETCHES- ep 13

EP 13 Thumbnails

Thumbnails are an important part of my process, they didn't use to be back when I was in early community college I would frequently just sketch stuff willy-nilly without planning it out at all. I will tell you, you can get by fine with that but your compositions will be vastly limited. 

Even comics need thumbnails.

A thumbnail sketch is a sketch that is small, like the nail on your thumb! What its purpose is is that it helps you to see the placement of things all together, you're forced to think of the overall position/composition relative to everything else and in this sense, it's very important as a planning step.

If you’re seeing some of the stuff I’ve been working on, don’t be afraid!! I’m still working on Cat Girl, the only reason I’ve been delayed on the recent chapter is because

1. It’s a little longer than usual

2. I just recently had a surgery

Cat Girl will still be continuing as usual, I’m just sharing some development of other comics I’d like to work on at some point in the future, not that I’m discontinuing anything!

Working on a new zine! Here's some preliminary layout pages that I have. 

I like to work in a combination of digital and traditional media for the most control, so I scan in a lot of assets and then rework them digitally. 

This zine is going to be a really fun one but I'm still going to cover/touch on some dark stuff too-- Taking a trip down memory lane of 00s and 10s internet, alternative subcultures that arose from it, childhood being online and the results of that.

Experimenting and a Zine

So I’m making a zine and experimenting with my art a lot more, trying to get out of my comfort zone and do some painterly abstract things.

This year’s been kinda difficult but I’m trying to keep up with everything I need to do. I am considering pivoting to a different platform or trying new things for Patreon that stick better than what I’m doing right now. I don’t know.
