Journeys - 9

Gnomeregan is a strange place, not that it's a surprise to anyone who's met a gnome.
Beta's still on holiday, so any mistakes are entirely my fault.

Since we're in Gnomeregan, have an attached image for Frazzle. Decent gnomes can now be generated – and it even gets the three fingers right.

Late is becoming unfortunately normal. I should probably change my blurbs since they're clearly inaccurate...

Also, unbeta'd; Trestira is away till the 25th and I'm an awful self-proofreader at the best of times.

I will make one update a week. Whether I get a second out will, for the moment, be dependant on whether I have the chapters ready beforehand – building a buffer is important both for stability and quality.

Somehow, some way, the first five paragraphs of the second scene took longer than the entire rest of the chapter combined. Nothing worked to start it.

"Clara, where the bloody hell did you go..." I grumbled as I rubbed at my tired eyes, hoping that the effort might make her easier to pick out. It didn't help that I'd barely slept last night after o...

Depression sucks

Depression sucks. This is something anyone, anywhere, who has dealt with it in any capacity understands intimately.

I'm away from what was ruining my life, safe in a new home, and happy. I have money, I have my mother, I eat well and don't have any reason to be afraid of anything.

So, what happens? I spend most of the week listless and empty because... depression sucks.

No reason or excuse. Just depression sucks.

Still on meds, this low was just 'everything is empty an...

Sorry for the delay, lack of sleep delayed it at first, then the Thornspeakers decided they really needed two chapters so my attempts to fit it all into one... failed. We'll get to see Ulfar next weekend – along with seeing where Jaina's at in an interlude.

Oh, and the attached image is a new Gwen generation – more or less her dress in this chapter.

We were just finishing up our meal at the Snug Harbour – Klinar had chosen to treat me, and it was at least decent – and dealing with Taelia and Finnall's combined desire for more stories when Cyrus returned. He wasn't alone, however; not only did he have Lord Waycrest with him, but half a dozen marines escorting Lady Katherine.

Their reception was utterly unlike our own when we came in. The pub was fairly cosmopolitan, with a smattering of accents f...

Journeys - 4 (Expanded/Edited)

Ended up not liking Journeys 4 in hindsight, mostly just how it started, so I went back over it. Part of the reason for today's delay.
And probably tomorrow's as well.

First scene is entirely new, second and third have only minor continuity edits. Nothing changes about the scope or result of the chapter as a whole – just flow.

I nodded stiffly to the marine that had been escorting me and took a deep breath as I eyed up the ornate door before me. I didn't want to have this meeting, if I hadn't run into Katherine last night – seen her alongside Finnall and Klinar – I wouldn't have agreed to it at all. Not without Darius here as well as Vivi.

Without any of the hesitation I felt, my escort knocked heavily on the door. "Lord Admiral, I have brought Witch Arevin as ordered."

Daelin Proudmoore's words hung in the air like bared fangs, his spiteful declaration that  we were little more than unwelcome intruders in his eyes cast back as echoes by the grand audience chamber we stood in. Not one of the Kul Tiran nobles were surprised by his outburst, not a single one of his guards – not even our escort, Cyrus Crestfall – reacted at all. His wife stood placidly at his side, her hands clasped before her – every last one of them uni...

"There's no wind anymore, so why are there waves?" Trix asked curiously, looking out across the glistening reflections of the moon and stars that lay upon the open ocean as she hung up her sodden shift on the railing of the ship. "Even if I can't see them I can feel them. They're there, under the surface."

We'd spent much of these last two days sitting on the prow of the ship, experiencing the waves – more literally for Trix, as she was l...

A/N: Sorry about the repost, but in order to get back into things I needed to re-do this chapter. The ending segment is entirely new and what was causing hangups on writing the next one; I struggled, hard, with the transition to being on the ship.

Quick Update

In the new house! No more hotel rooms!

Sitting on the floor using mobile internet and my mother's laptop, but that'll be remedied within a week. All's gone well and things are moving on from where they were; still alive, and honestly itching to write after being stuck without the ability for so long.

And, uh, I forgot the month of May existed in my last post. When I said June I meant May. April to settle in, get back in the swing of things, and - with luck -...

Housing Update

Good news, albeit news that means the haitus is going to continue longer than I'd like.

Firestly, the time I've spent in temporary accomodation – a rather nice hotel, if I'm honest – has been the least stressful month of my life in... years. The lack of any kind of proper setup to do writing is annoying, but it is what it is.

Secondly, we have a house! Albeit not yet; moving in on the 25th of March. I'd hoped to resume updates in April but that was when I thought we'd be in by...

Update

Really, I should have been doing these monthly. Or at least trying to keep in contact.

To say that the situation has not improved would be an understatement; my grandmother, in no uncertain terms, chose the man who threatened me over me. This is the last night we'll be here in this house as, with his return now that his bail conditions are gone, we're being evicted tomorrow.

No place to go, beyond a friend who offered me their couch, so we'll be in emergency accomodation before th...

Friday Update

Sadly, I did not manage to complete any chapters like I'd hoped. Or even get much in the way of any writing done.

To make a painfully long story short, my mother and I are looking at moving out at last, and will, hopefully, see me somewhere that I am no longer so stressed before christmas. Here's hoping.

The process of moving is, in of itself, going to be distruptive. But I rather doubt it can be any more disruptive than the rest of my life has been lately – who knows, the new l...

No chapters

Sorry, there won't be any chapters this weekend.

There isn't anything particularly new causing difficulties, but I simply didn't get any writing done and can't keep forcing them through at the last minute.

I desperately wanted to keep up with the schedule, but it's slowly fallen apart and it's time I admit that and that I'm harming myself by trying to keep up.

Hopefully chapters will resume next weekend. In either case, I'll inform you all by friday.

I hummed lightly as I ran my fingers through my hedge's leaves, brushing against branches and feeling them curl at my touch, trying to latch on and bind me – before they realised who I was. Just a little more vicious than yesterday, and with a few blackwald thornvines sprouting in the gloom beneath to make a nasty surprise for anyone unwanted who intruded while I was away.

"Another pass, I think." I mumbled as I reached the riverside, doing much the same to the reeds that decorated th...

Sorry for the extended delay, Sunday decided to be headache day. This is the first half of the chapter with the rest coming later today when I finish my sleep. In the meantime you get to enjoy the puppy-fluff.

Beta'd version will come with the rest of the chapter.

Next week will be the planned arc-end half-break, so only one chapter on Patreon, which is part of why I'm determined to finish this one fully today.

Resistance - 6 - Final

"That was Tortolla. That was Tortolla the Wise, Eldest of All." Anessa whispered, still dumbfounded and occasionally reaching up to touch her forehead in disbelief. Amusing as it was to see the girl so awed, Aderic was simply glad that the girl was capable enough to keep her hippogriff on task, following Caedan and Featherstorm over the slopes and valleys of Mount Hyjal as they moved to their next destination. "I must counsel against this." Archdruid Staghelm said, and though he spoke to Malfurion foremost, his gaze was firmly fixed upon Jaina; narrowed glowing eyes pierced into her with thinly veiled anger. He knew that the suggestion had come from her, though not how or why she had said it. "We have prepared for the coming battle. Even our allies, who defile our sacred mountain with their preparations, are ready to stand against the demons. You would plan for our defeat before t...

Seeing the men – and women – he wanted to talk to, Jack sidled up to the table with his drink and slipped into one of two spare seats. The old Hanging Barrel was busier than usual, what with the soldiers still hanging about with coin to spend, but there was plenty of space for the guildmasters to have their table. "So, what'd'you think about this whole 'commons' thing the king promised?" He asked as Julie gave him a side-eyed glare; the seamstress was a cold vindictive bitch, but at least...

Status update

So, after the stress of the public release and the response to it, my general life problems – being threatened with eviction by my grandmother over the police prosecuting my aunt's boyfriend for threatening to stab me – things didn't go so great this last week.

And then I caught something. Yesterday, Saturday, was one long coughing fit with a headache that felt like my brain was three sizes too big for my skull.

I'll get a chapter up later today, and hopefully one tomorrow. ...

Tommen put a hand over his eyes, shielding them from the sun, as he leaned on his shepherd’s crook. Hard to tell if he were seeing things in the endless green hills that went out west – he'd almost thought somebody were comin' down, but Old Jon's wagon got hit by bandits out of Alterac a couple weeks back. Not that he were sorry about that; couldn't have happened to a better guy.

The wind shifted and stilled amongst the tall trees – what masts they would make, should they take seeds home to the valley and grow them there – and Brelan held up a hand. "Halt!" He called out, bringing the column of tired sailors behind him to a stop. Some collapsed to their knees, and even some of his brothers began to lean upon their staves, but no matter that his eyes were weary and his muscles ached under the weight of his adorned raiment he could not show a lack of conviction; he ...
