Study: Character Design

My husband and I started a new universe for one of our RP character pairs recently (Amber and Jason, for those in the know) and I decided I wanted to do a lovely painting of them. Amber is a dryad and Jason is... I don't know yet! A bad boy, I guess!

So first things first, I need to break down everything I want to study before I tackle the painting. And before I can do that, I need to pin down... character design. So that's where I started.

Quick Tip: Putting Characters in Perspective

I was working on the next page and it occurred to me that I know a quick little tip that makes all the difference!

Hey artists, have you ever been drawing a scene, and some characters are closer to the camera than others, and for some reason no matter how you draw it, it looks like someone is really short or small or something?

Here's a rule of thumb that may not always work, but it works well enough:

Make sure their eyes are always on the same horizontal line.

Hey y'all! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news -- I have to put the free TfT code on hold while I figure out some bugs with it. Even though I marked it to one use per customer, some folks were figuring out how to get around that restriction and getting multiple TfTs for free. Which, as much as I'd like to offer that, I DO have to pay the artists and writers for those! So alas, just one free one per person.

I'll do some investigating and let you know when the code is renewed.
