The Linux Dabbler, aka Mike, posted a video yesterday detailing a process where you could use a few terminal commands to display your keybindings. He got the idea from AwesomeWM, and then wrote a script for his spectrwm install.
It's awesome.
So I thought I'd steal the idea and do something for DWM. I didn't think it deserved it own video, so I just decided to share it here for my patrons.
Wh...

First, thanks everyone for your support! You have no idea what it means. I'm honestly still shocked at how the last month has gone.
I've promised early access to most of my videos, that is still in the plans. I'm behind in actually getting it done though, as I'm still working out how I want to go about it. I'm aiming for the end of the month.
For my VIP Patrons, I'm still thinking about how I want to do the AMA. Eventually, I'll do something like DT does with his patrons whe...

I published a video this week about Linux being too hard to install, and one of the comments there got me thinking: Do we really want Linux to go mainstream?
I think the answer has to be no, in general, mostly, kinda. What we want is for Linux to be more popular with developers so that software is made to support it. Or more specifically, so that software is built to support all platforms.
As they say, apps are where it's at.
On the other hand, I don't think tha...

Browsing r/unixporn has made me think about something. A lot of the rices you see there don't have bars/panels. I look at these setups and I just can't get my head around them. Now, for aesthetics, they look great. Getting that little bit of extra real estate makes a ton of sense, but functionally, I can't wrap my head around it.
The other day I set up bswpm from scratch, and as it doesn't come with a bar, I spent a half hour or so without a bar while I played with lemonbar. It dr...

Starting the second week of March, most videos will be available a day early for tier 2 and 3 patrons. The only exceptions to this will likely be news videos, vids that I shoot the day off and are time sensitive.
In other news, polls will be available to all patrons as well. This seems to make more sense in the long run.

I briefly used Ubuntu on hardware the other day. I like the design they've gone with and it is one of the most stable distros out there, but man, the software selection outside of the snap store is horrible.
Termite, the best terminal emulator ever imho, is not on Ubuntu and won't build.
Picom, which is necessary for so much, isn't there either. I mean how is it not? Maybe there's a ppa that I missed with it, but I couldn't find it.
And that's the point. If your ...

Starting in March, all videos that go up on YouTube will be here on Patreon a day early for tier 2 and tier 3 patrons.
March will also see the first polls go up. These will help choose future topics for videos on the channel.
If there is anything else that I can add, let me know. Still quite new to this patreon stuff.

Martin is off this week with RL stuff, so there might not be a pod today. I think Ricky and I have one that was never published so that might show up here if I can find it.

If you need help, there is no better distribution to use than Ubuntu. Despite the strength of the Arch Wiki, Ubuntu has the best community mostly due to their willingness to help each other.
