After understanding how popular Lost mines of Phandelver is, I started going back through the adventure and realised there are a couple of locations that I think everyone could get some mileage from. I think the encounter with the banshee, Agatha, in her twisted root home was a cool place to start, and I thought could stand in as an interesting location in a lot of different campaigns. As I'm trying to finish up the catalogue website, I might try and do a couple more wilderness travel locatio...

Even though I have now been making my D&D artwork for over 4 years I often still have to pinch myself that this is my reality. I still have a hard time telling new people what I do for a job, because it always starts with a sigh of joyful gratitude that I get to make my art for a job.
And that is the reality because of...

I have not finished all the Chapter 2 locations in Wild Beyond the Witchlight yet, but I think the winter winds and rain had inspired me recently to paint something a little more cold and thematic, so I jumped ahead to the third chapter, Yon, the mountainous region. The region is dotted with lightning rods that sit atop some of the mountain peaks, so I wanted to hint to that.
I am also making good progress on the website catalogue, so that should be finished in January and make se...

I had a few good recommendations of common shops or interiors last time, but I already knew that I wanted to do a common general store next. Something that you would find in almost any town that an adventuring party would visit. You've got to buy your equipment somewhere don't you? I tried to keep it as generic as possible, because who knows what your specific store might sell.
I have a couple more ideas after this one of more interesting shop locations, but I also want some more recomm...

After doing all the travel landscapes, that I think are useful for a lot of folks, I wanted to start on another series of common shop locations that almost always come up throughout an adventure. So, what better place to start than the local blacksmith! I think some of these locations will be interiors of a shop and some might be an exterior of the shop, like this one is. But, it will depend on the type of shop of course.
I already have a couple of ideas of common shops that playe...

I wanted to share this little alternate image I made last night for my own world The Westlands. This scene will be in the story as the main character comes to meet with his contact only to find his friends inn burning to the ground. I have had this scene in mind for a while and since I have done quite a few buildings I already like, I thought "why not just set fire to one of them".
So even though this is using the Blue Water Inn from Curse of Strahd, it's not directly anything to do wit...

I have had the urge to paint some kind of lake scene for a while and as soon as I read the description for this location in Wild Beyond the Witchlight, I immediately thought of a place I have hiked to a few times in Vancouver, Canada. It really is the place of the fey out there sometimes, and this seemed to fit perfectly. The book describes the island as maybe a quarter of the size that I depicted it, but I liked the real life location too much, that I had to stick to that.
As always, l...

I wanted to do more of the feywild locations in Thither, the second chapter in Wild Beyond the Witchlight, but I felt most inspired by the final location in the chapter, Loomlurch. It describes the fallen tree as a giant oak, but looking at the map provided, it doesn't really look like an oak to me, and the only larger than life fallen tree I have seen in person was a Redwood in California. Some, of the ancient fallen trees there are actually giant and even on their side, several times taller...
