I’m back in Sydney for at least the next few months, and the feeling of properly packing my suitcase away is a great relief. I’ve been on the road more or less since LaserFraser was four and a half months old, and now she’s a whole one.

The clocks have changed in Australia, taking us towards The Difficult Time for inter-timezone work/communication.

One of the nice things about being in Florence is it’s such a walkable city. But today was an absolute hect of a day, and I didn’t end up leaving the house at all. It was raining, which made that a technically acceptable choice, but I always feel a bit trapped and thwarted when I don’t get out into the fresh air at all.

On one hand, a guy in my apartment building was singing opera to himself last night, so that was pretty great. So, I’ve been in Florence for um… three days? Trying to simultaneously plan the shape of next year and also completely relax my brain and not think about logistics for five minutes.
Part of me thinks my hindbrain will figure out what it wants to do if I just let front brain drift a bit (apart from weekly Gargle and News Quiz writing, of course). Part of me thinks I should get out my post it notes and system cards and start mapping out plans.

It was quite funny yesterday (though I was immensely stressed out). Things I was worried about:

Hallo! I am trying to wrangle them to send out Comp tickets to your emails -they’ve sold out and not put an allocation aside so I’m trying to figure out what they’ll allow. Update: apparently it’s a matter of licensing laws etc, so it’s tricky.

Last night, the notorious last Monday of the fringe was so lovely. I was expecting a tiny tiny quiet audience of exhausted festival goers who had run, long ago, out of laughter to give. Monday’s a whimper to go out on, rather than a bang.

This week I did ACMS a couple of times and the Assembly Best of The Fest last night (all shows starting at midnight). I’d put off doing late shows to this last week of the festival because I was trying to keep my powder dry, but doing three in a row was deeply stupid.
